yup! this console is 2.1m and will give us more room to play with when arranging the AV decks around. sadly however, the center drawer piece is not movable like their other variant which cost even more due to a class top and with shorter dimensions at 1.8m.

the overall layout is quite well planned indeed, just that initally have some difficulties with the 2 slanted walls. yup, it was from a SOBF excercise end of last year. actually we got our keys very very early... but sat on it for quite some time as were busy with work and stuffs. only started looking for IDs from May onwards which lasted almost 2months till we finalised in late July, early Aug. Reno work officially started in begining of Sept due to the lunar 7th month.

well, to keep this thread going, i would also like to share my experiences from reading all the post and replies here. it seems to me that alot of posters in this thread have a very few or low post counts, some even solely created for the purpose of voicing their unhappiness, therefore am not sue if its genuine comments and reviews or just thread bashing. nonetheless, i've just placed order for one of their tv-consoles and dining tables and hopefully they do come through for me from their end of the bargain. will update again when i take delivery of my items in Nov later this year. cheers! we also went to TFM to have a look see look see and saw this tv console at Species which caught our eyes as it comes in Piano White finishing, and have not seen something of similar. it will fit nicely below our living room wall feature which is suspended across the diagonal wall. TV Console Dining Table something similar to this design but is made entirely of wood instead of steel and glass and finished in piano white, length wise is catered for 4 to 6 seater. its comes with 2x chairs same as the picture above together with a 2 seater bench. anyway heard that they do not have good reviews or comments on RT, hopefully they will deliver and pull through on their end.

Hdb Floorplans: The Best (And Worst) Layouts In Public Housing
MeRfMeRf replied to PublicLife's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat
Hey Public Life, here is my contribution to your efforts in compliation of various layouts. I think mine is rather a love or hate kind, its rather unique in the sense you seldom fine such designs but then again its kinda headache to plan as well. Cheers! MeRf -
when shopping today for sanitary wares at Genova and gotten a set of fixtures for my toilet so far. they had a few packages for WC+Basin+Tap+Bidet but we opt for their Caprio WC so had to top up. the ever popular Arino Caprio WC for MBR toilet square mixer tap for common toilet pedestral basin for common toilet square rain shower with mixer for MBR toilet

thanks prody! love ya feature wall in your MBR toilet too as well as the laminates! really brings out the detail of the toilet. a handful of IDs we went too suggested using our BD2 as WIW and Study, but due to cost concerns we had to abandon the idea, maybe in our next reno, we will def do more major works and reno. we decided to keep the store as theres alot of barang barang that me and my WTB would have to keep somewhere, thus leaving it behind untouched. saw ya post on choosing floor laminates as well, we choose a rather light/white laminate for the living area to suit the theme of white+grey+wood so i guess having dirt trapped inbetween cant be helped. will be updating some pics later on in my t-blog as we went shopping today for sanitary wares, as well as tv console & dining table.

Hi Prody & Dreaming, have just went through all 3 pages and simply love the reno and ideas! i especially dig the brick wall as well as the choice of laminates used in the carpentry for MBR & MBR toilet! your toliet does look abit cramped just like my MBR toilet but i simply laud your efforts in going for functionality over looks! will be following ya t-blog all the way! Cheers! MeRf

contractor says estimated cost between 600-800 for the whole setup for 1x wall hung toliet and yup gerberit flushes, WC can be any other brands thou. *cross-fingers* liao... Tiling & Wet Works anyway just to update on my reno progress, the workers have finished the tiling works. Foyer/Dining Area noticed we used a brick-wall pattern over the usual tile end to end to create more uniqueness to the flooring, this pattern goes all the way into the kitchen as well. the tile works stopped short halfway as the rest of the living room area we will install laminate flooring.
-
1 of the contractor i got in touch with ask me to do those wall hung toilets, which is to extend a hollow block wall behind the hanging WC to hide the water tank frame and sewage or "manhole" within. Problem is cost as well as HDB regulation also forbids such designs unless do anything but don't get caught lor...
-
well theres both pros and cons definitely, i cant hack and remove the old toilet tiles and have to live with the unsightly waste pipes located at the rear of the WC. see pics below... the drainage pipes instead of going downwards goes back in to the sidewall, so have to get a P-Trap WC and i can't conceal the pipes due to HDB's regulations, if not would have done those hanging WCs found in commercial and private homes. hmm maybe paint the pipes to match the colour of the tiles?
-
not really alot as im only tiling the dining+foyer, kitchen as well as the 2 toilets. the bathroom tiles are a tad bit tricky as i initally dint know they are actually prefabricated toilets before confirming my purchase, due to its prefab nature, i cant hack the existing tiles as the HDB branch office does not approve of it for fear of damaging the steel box frame surrounding the toilet, so i got my ID to do an overlay instead. hey jon, as mentioned in my reply above, due to the fact that the toilets are prefab, thus all the configuration of piping has already been done and concealed within the walls of the toilet and i cant make any changes unless i do not want it concealed. the flat is already 13years old and i believe this was one of HDB's guinea pig projects for new building technologies.

Hacking & Removal... Since our flat is rather free of old fixtures and we were not intending to hack any walls, the H&R was a rather simple one with spot hacking done to the foyer/dining & kitchen, removal of toilet fixtures, the louver windows in the living area, doors for storeroom and toilets. Spot Hacking in Foyer/Dining Spot Hacking in Kitchen
-
i totally agree, having a bare unit can save $ on the hacking and removal of unwanted fixtures and stuffs. my ID is very into Loft/Industrial themes and he did suggest using cement screed, but i was afraid of high maintenance as they tend to crack after long periods due to weather expansion and contraction. so the next best thing was to apply losta grey and white themes to the house's design and introduction of wood grains/patterns. i think you made a good choice on the ID too as it all boils down to being comfortable the designs and ideas proposed.
-
hi ejzaka, your reno progress looks good! like ya toliet tiles! esp the spotted one for the feature wall. cant wait to see your finished flat! Cheers!
-
As the flat is rather bare with no existing fixtures nor flooring, the works require would be rather major. Thus after discussing with the ID and budget constraints, here are the things we will be doing up. We are going to just renovate the kitchen, living room, storeroom, both common and MBR toliets and MBR, leaving the other 2 bedrooms untouched other then new electrical and painting works. We have also chosen the all the tiles needed for the Dining+Kitchen and both toliets from Hafary. Dining+Kitchen Common Toliet (Lowest = Floor, Middle = Walls & Top = Shower Wall Feature MBR Toliet (Lowest = Floor, Middle = Feature Walls & Top = Other walls

my sentiments exactly bro, the most painful thing about meeting all this IDs is to repeat what i've said to the previous IDs hope you dint go through more then 5 to find your ideal ID to do up ya place?
-
we went to see about 5, in the end its either... like the ideals proposed by not the price like the price but no creativity juices from the ID or too expensive and no brainer designs with shoddy workmanship after the process we gave up finding anymore and decided the ID friend as he was rather creative, giving us ideals and his pricing thou not the cheapest but still within our means.
