  1. Thanks, sleek We have benefited a great deal from reading the experience and info shared by other RT forumers hence we feel that we should reciprocate and do likewise share ours too
  2. Hi May! Thanks to your recommendation of Andrew, so far so good, I like his attitude And really appreciate your genrousity in showing us your house despite the last-min request. Your house is simply beautiful I am this will be seconded by all the RT forumers who will be going for your housewarming tomorrow
  3. Hello fellow RT forumers, this is "THE wife" reporting in Yah, like Seth said, it was really a draining and tedious process from house search till confirming the reno contractor...I barely have 4 hours' sleep every night since weeks ago But I must say, it can be quite fun & engaging, and I never realised I have such good endurance in "shopping" (looking at lights, kitchen/toilet accessories, furniture, home appliances, etc), especially under the hot sun! Well, posting of this T-blog will mean the beginning of another round of hectic journey...of the reno, sourcing & purchase of white goods, furniture, and LIGHTS!!! which Seth & I found sooooooo difficult to find our "love-at-first-sight" Well, wish us luck! Hope everything will go super shun-shun!
  4. Marshy..sayang...and don't too upset 'cos I believe MOST ppl have around 1.6-2m wardrobe shared by 2 or more persons, e.g. ME! will be having approx. AT MOST a 1.7m x 1.2m wardrobe size to be shared with my hubby and also used as storage space for stuff like luggages, iron board, bed sheets/pillow cases, etc etc etc. But I think it's ok ah
  5. Nice wardrobe! I like the bright colour; can really cheers one up and bring some "life" to the room From the pic, I also see a glimpse of your ceiling fan. Looks nice leh. What brand/model, from where and how much did it cost you hah? Oops...sorry for the series of questions Can't wait to see photos of your lights and digital clock And CONGRATS!Wish you 入屋大吉! Okok, I know you don't understand Chinese. Hmm..in short, those four Chinese characters simply meant Auspiciousness, Prosperity & Blessings upon your shift-in!
  6. Sounds great But is the door part of the original structure that comes with your BTO? Or is from the ID? If from ID, how much did it cost you?
  7. Yah, my hubby met him but he was not free thus referred my hubby to his staff/assistant, who doesn't seem experienced leh Will be meeting again this Sat for 2nd apointment cos he doesnt wanna provide quote over email but preferred to discuss face-to-face. Whether or the deal materializes ultimately, thanks for the contacts!
  8. Is it solid wood with laminate? So does that mean it's veneer door? Me really a super duper green horn in all these reno stuff Hence trying to read & ask as much as I can to understand and hopefuul can apply to my reno lor... Definitely need help from the guru-formuers e.g. you lor
  9. Hey footprint, I like your common toilet PD door Is it opaque black or translucent one? And hor, pardon my "sua-ku-ness" but is PD door = 2 panels slide to 1 panel then swing open type of door hah? Is it filmsy like the normal toiler bi-fold doors?
  10. Wah...May can conduct courses on A LOT of things le.. tile testing for tile selection lah, Deh-ism and now tile testing for hollowness! May can be the veteran for reno...reno guru! Yah, nice door. What kinda door (material) is that?
  11. Hahahaa...May always so excited when talking about her MBR toilet But it is indeed a very bold & excitable toilet lor footprint, yours also not bad woh...can see cannot see, so enticing
  12. Hey May, feel really happy & relieved for you that the reno is going to be over and you can finally have your own HOME-SWEET-HOME in 3 more days! But you better rest enough & eat regularly ah...also must take extra care of your sensitive nose lor... Me & my hubby also got super sensitive nose hence I can fully empathise your misery Hope you have resolved the MBR bathroom seater issue?
  13. Is this DIY by yourself??? I will be so impressed if it is Is that your study table or tv console?? I am still thinking whether it is more cost effective to build a customised tv console thru carpentry or just buy from furniture shop
  14. Err...can plaster ceiling meh? I read on HDB reno guidelines & regulations that ceilings cannot be plastered woh... My new house is on the top floor thus also very worried about leakage (from water tank) as it's a 33-year-old flat le and previous owner is the first generation owner who has not done any reno/upgrade since they shifted in in 1978, and I did see yellow spots/stains on the ceiling (like yours) during the viewing But csingeu, don't worry lah, since HDB said they will investigate and do a water test on your neighbour upstairs, at least if there is really leakage from the unit above you, they are liable to ensure they rectify the water leakage issue so you dont have to worry about future possible leaking
  15. Hi neubie! Nice reno & layout you have there for your 3-room flat I have just started sourcing & researching on info/tips/lobangs for the reno of my 3-room unit, which I think it's a bit late cos my 2nd appointment is on 18 May 2011 and I hope to be able to finish reno and move in before mid July...finger crossed I have similar fllor plan as yours and I also wanted to extend my LR to have part of the kitchen area to be converted into a cosy dining area, with an open or semi-open concept kitchen too May I check with you for the levelling of the kitchen floor to the LR floor, do you have a beakdown of how much that costs?
  16. Hi footprint, great lights you have there! May I know the name of the shop in Jln Besar where you bought the lights? Also, I have read some other forumers who "complained" that Ideal House is not as good as they thought & over-hyped by the t-blogers here...maybe due to too ovedrwhelming projects... Is that true? I mean as the current customer, what are your comments/review of their service, workmanship, quote, quality of work? I am looking for ID/Contractor for my new place
  17. Hi May, thanks for the ID contacts! And yah boy, your fridge is HUGE! Everything is BIG in your houdse leh...super huge bed (2 x King size bed = super huge lor ), huge wardrobe, huge bedroom and now huge fridge...you sure know how to pamper yourself and enjoy life Well, I presume there is no reno work over wkend? Hope you can take the opportunity to have a good rest and/or shop for items for your new home Waiting with much anticipation for your next update/pics
  18. LOL! Yah..I must admit there were nights that I actually dozed off while reading Not that the chit-chats were boring but I was really tired/drained lately with only less than 5 hrs sleep every night for the past few weeks Besides May's, I have also started reading idealistics' t-blog and OMG...so angry for him One thing about reading these t-blogs you do not only get lots of info, tips, advices, contacts, lobangs etc, I (personally lah) feel that I will also become very "involved" in the progress as in I will feel happy when things turn out shun-shun for the t-blogers or sad/angry when the other way round...do you all think so?? Or is it me only??? Thanks in advance, May! Look forward to more pics & updates on your reno progress! Reading your t-blog has become my "everyday-must-do" things le
  19. OMG! OMG! idealistic! Yur ID/Contractor is totally incorrigible leh!!! The never ending and never informed beforehand top-ups were all so unreasonable!!! And how can he dare to ask you for the top-up for the TV console when his carpentry work is not reflecting the 3D? Shouldn't the end product of the reno/carpentry work be the same or at least 90% close to the 3Ds?!! And the diff tone in flooring after so much assurance...and the amateur plastering and painting job...etc etc etc...and now the cabinet!! And still can give you 1001 excuses!!! OMG! I feel so angry for you lor! And you are SUPER nice and amicable lor...saint ah... If it's me I would be **** pissed and would definitely and and at him and with him !!! I seriously hope I won't get such a "beyond words can described" ID/Contract for my new home
  20. Dont wish to miss out any good info and "amusements" (e.g. the "scary talk") mah plus it's so entertaining & addictive that I just read on w/o realsing the time If I did not remember wrongly, you have very good ID, tilers and electrician (pricing wise)...could you be so kind to send me their contacts and quotes please?
  21. Hi May and everyone who has been active and super regular here! I am VERY new to RT; just joined less than a mth ago I think and realised I am VERY late in getting started for my new place seeing that almost eveyone here started researching and sourcing mths and even years ahead! Anyway, May, I have been a silent & avid reader of your T-blog, and spent the past few nights reading from page 1 and finally catched up! LOL Really enjoyed reading...very informative, amusing and entertaining And kudos to your capability, determination, resourcefulness and assertiveness in your OMO reno project, with such effectiveness & efficiency too!
