  1. WOW! 23ft! That is a record man! I think all husbands who are undergoing/going to have reno are now perspiring with fear Can't wait to see your HUMONGOUS WIW!
  2. Yah, a beautiful & unique art can be a real centre piece to the whole place. I am sure yours would be super swee with your good taste I remembered you posted some metal art that you found (or bought???) online and I love those pieces they are simply beautiful & characteristic! Too bad they are too ex; me no budget for such luxuries now
  3. Yah, if it's not becos of the $20K COV we will have to end up having bread & maggie mee everyday for a year after paying for the reno WOW! Nancy Drew! That's really childhood reminiscence man! That means your wifey and I are of the same era YES! That's the one I was referring to..IRC! LOL! Don't worry, May, age is never a problem if one ages with grace; we grace together lor. LOL! Yah, the arrangement of the laundry drying area is usually easily forgotten. Lucky Seth remembered on our last visit to the unit with the contractor. And we were debating how it should be, parrerel with and right in front of the kitchen windows, which is a bit narrow & cramp, or perpendicular to the windows in the centre, which might block the ceiling light..headache... Any suggestion from experience??? WOW! Got remote control somemore! Must have cost a bomb! Thanks, Marshy, for PMing Seth the contact & cost. Yah lah, what to do? When one is playing Mr./Ms Nice, the other will have to be the devil lor, otherwise both will be shortchanged and chopped into pieces Anyway I was never the sweetie cutie pie type, more known as chilli paddi since young...even now, when I see young punks stucking their fat a.s.s. on the reserved seats in MRT when there is obviously an elderly or pregnant lady, I will tap on that young punk (don't care even if he/she is pretending to be sleeping!) and demand him/her to give away the seat to the needy! So since this spitfire is in me, let me be the devil's advocate ba! Hahaha...
  4. Hi csingeu, thanks for visiting our blog Really honoured to have regulars like you, Marshy, May, Ely, Kobelala, sleek, friends78, RB, footprint and hafiizh, commenting on our blog Seth & I have more or less decided to get the Philips downlights unless we found/read evidential info on the disadvantage of it...you know of any??? Yah, I remembered during the 1st viewing I was controlling my urge to laugh when I see the retro interior decor of the unit, hence I ended smiling thru'out the viewing. LOL! But you are right, altho have to spend a great deal (to us lah) on the reno but at least it will something we both wanted and chosen Seth should be going to take some photos (of the "hacked" condition) this afternoon so...stay tuned for the photos! No problem, Kobelala, feel free to come hi-jack with all sorts of funny & hilarious topics But I think nothing compares to the Sai Discussion Board in your t-blog! LOL! Oh boy...ICQ! I think this term is alien to the youngsters man! I remember there's another type of Internet communicator before ICQ but cannot recall the name...anybody can remember?
  5. Congratulations! RB! Your boy shares the same birthday as my mum's; it's her b/day today too
  6. Gee..RB, that is so true! Women in general are creature of emotion while men usually focus only on solutions hence or allegations of not understanding each other arise OMG! Kobelala..Kobelala... you sure made me laughed aloud in front of my PC/monitor..HAHAHAAA.... This whole thread on SAI/SEE/S H I T (gee...all starts with "S' hor??? LOL ) is so hilarious! I really cannot stop laughing leh! But informative also on the selection of WC Hmm...must consider carefully before Seth & I purchase our WCs
  7. Don't worry lah, csingeu, I am sure problems will eventually be solved. If need be, use RT as your "bargaining chips". Tell your contractor/ID, "Wah...like that how to help you market your firm on RT? I plan to post nice pics and recommend you somemore"
  8. Oh no...did I just trap myself into a conspiracy?!??! LOL Thanks for your invite, sure look forward to it!
  9. COngrats, sleek! Glad to see you starting your t-blog too, will definitely follow your blog And WOW! Your place huge! The kitchen is pretty big (long) too. Good if you cook regularly The house condition looks as good as new too, can save quite a fair bit on reno
  10. Err...Ely, can Seth & I come along too if our time permits? Would love to have an eye widening experience i.e. to see those interesting stuff you bought online
  11. I guess you are right...but think better go at least on the 3rd day of hacking ba..in case they miss out any walls/areas that need to be hacked or worse hacked the wrong walls/areas! Thanks for the lighting recommendation too. Will go down if time permits..cos we still have lots of stuff haven't managed/bought. I have thought about it le...worst case scenario just buy the "most satisfying (but not the "dream" piece) pendant light we have seen so far lor...
  12. Yah, I agree with May, must make them work things out for you! Even if it means the contractor has to buy from other suppliers/contractors at a high cost, he has to resolve it and bear the cost too. Don't let this pass. Imagine that "out-of-sort" piece is gonna be there permanently shouting at you "hey, I am different" until you change the whole flooring Hmm...I think I better ask my contractor to keep spare tiles for every piece of design we have...
  13. Hmm...today is the first day of reno..hacking... wonder how's things over our lair now Actually felt like popping by after work but too late le + feeling very tired and I guess it will be a more "fruitful" trip if I go after 2-3 days of hacking ba Gee...feel so apprehensive...not just becos reno started today but also the lighting... Seth & I still haven’t found our “love-at-first-sight” centre piece pendant lamp… Went to more than 10 lighting shops in Balestier and Jln Besar but still searching… Any recommendation?
  14. You are right! Complete overhaul & EVERYTHING GOES except the main door & grille, of which we are waiting for the HIP to opt in as ours is a fire-rated door...too ex to change Believe it or not, we have dated for coming to 7 years le but I have NEVER tried his cooking and now he's offering to cook for another woman! LOL But for May, it's ok lah Yah, Seth needs a lot of privacy and we have been looking for corner units for months but no luck hence were so happy when we found this, with relatively low COV somemore
  15. No prob, sleek I find that t-blog is a good platform for not just reno experience/info exchange but also chatting of any topics under the sun that forumers enjoy sharing; that's the fun part mah Our unit also had history of leakage but HDB & Town Council said the leakage has been rectified le & it's ok now woh...they better be right otherwise I will make sure I bring this case right up to the MP!
  16. Wow...mae, so nice of you to help csingeu to post the reno pics Thinks csingeu must be super touched, especially when he is so tied-up with school, exams, work, wedding... The window/grille thingie sure sounds scary leh... my unit is directly accessible from the lift and we are installing alum grille...oh no... Maybe can putt a pad lock on the grille? Dunno leh...aesthetic, safety, cost...really gotta weigh
  17. Wah...I better clarify myself here man... I never suan Seth leh... he is the one who always suan me and mock at me Sleek, I think I saw your boy in photos of friends78 housewarming I think...yah, he is cute lor! And a lady-killer-to-be in 10+ years
  18. Hi CutieCat, like your nice vibrant colour theme Orange, yellow, red are the primary colours and also colours known for stimulating appetite; are you a gourmet? I am an extreme, love bright lour cheery colours but am also a minimalist who adores combination of black, white, red and silver
  19. quote name='sethho' timestamp='1306123461' post='640080'] Presenting the original pics taken (and orientated correctly) by Ader Hehee...Seth is in charge "frontier work" starting the t-blog, posting pics with commentaries/intro/info, while I am the "backend support" drawing floor plan & layout, taking & editing photos Sorry for the amateur photography and lighting was bad that day (rainy day) when we went for the final inspection and phototaking thus the poor lighting in the photos :s
  20. Hey hafiizh, thx for visiting our t-blog Hmm...is this (the "bat cave sliding pole") some sort of "every man's fantasy"?? Like the secret/hidden doorway to May's MBR Hi marshy, thx for dropping by our t-blog. Hope you will visit regularly and give us your comments/advice/opinions Hi Jaskel, thx for your time in meeting Seth & I despite your busy schedule with projects and own reno
  21. Yeah, finally...but started by my hubby LOL Like my hubby said, will try our best to update (diligently) our t-blog with photos of reno progress, bought & intended purchases, and any other experience and lobangs to share with fellow forumers
  22. Hahahaa...May, your T-blog is definitely the most happening blog with most participants Well, that's becos you are so warm, friendly and generous Loved the pics that supersimon took; simply breathtaking. Your place is super swee in real but the pics brought out aesthetic visual effects that are not so apparent in real view. Thumbs-up for supersimon's photography skills It's a pity hubby & I couldn't attend your housewarming; knew it woud be super fun especially when so many RT forumers attended And csingeu...u so quiet in real person becos gorgeous wife there hah? Just teasing, actually I am also like that, quieter in real person, unless I have warmed up to & feel comfortable with the person(s) Anyway, May, LOVE YOUR HOUSE!
  23. Congrats, footprint! So happy for you that your reno is finally completed and you have settled in with your first meal even! It seems only yesterday that I started reading your blog and wah-lah, it's completed le! I have MIA from reading the T-blogs for awhile cos busy sourcing for IDs/contractors and stuff for my reno. Thanks for the recommendation of Rick. Hubby & I like him but alas, his quote (as an ID firm) is too dear for our tight budget thus signed with May's contractor instead. But I must say, Rick is really very sincere & kind lor...even tho we didnt sign with him, he asked us to feel free to approach him for reno advice if we need..so touched...
  24. Oh yes, it's your house warming today..or rather yesterday! I bet everyone must be like when they see your island, WIW and that "secret passage door" to your room
  25. Well, before we see the professional 2D/3D drawings from Andrew, here is a preliminary preview to our new floor layout after all the hacking and reconstructing. Created using a free online floor planner hence design is limited to whatever colours & pictures are available but generally the new layout is something like this lah
