  1. i doubt i have seen it anywhere else. I am sure you will find something else that you will love. It has happened to us many times too. Dont worry, keep looking! :thumbs up:
  2. A few days later, one of the many online orders came in. Till today so happy to use it. freaking big and heavy a foldable gold mad-men bar cart! bottom is real wood. edges have a hammered pattern. it can be used to display items or serve drinks to friends. (the background is not my home)
  3. for some flat, do take note of the MAIN GAS pipes. In the previous post you can see where the gas pipe is in the kitchen. Below is a close up pic. You cant hack it away and will have to box it up. So some kitchens might have a box up that suddenly protrudes. We were not prepared of this but our contractor boxed it up for us since there wasnt suppose to be any hidden costs. phew~~
  4. meanwhile this wall is erected because we are going to do a sliding door that opens left and right. water-proofing the kitchen. testing with water if there is any leakage. its very very sticky.
  5. some random pics from lorgans. Went to a few carpenters but none of them could custom the design i wanted for my study table. Only lorgan could do it for me. Price is ex but its what i always wanted- to have a mid century work desk. And he promised to do it with real teak and not laminates. My wife allowed me to splurge on it since its where i am going to spend a lot of time.
  6. val, make sure u buy 3 pairs for the sofa! It needs to be able to take the weight in the middle, esp if guests come and all sit and squeeze on the sofa. You got to check if the underneath has space for u to screw it in. I popped my head under some of the ikea cupboards and some didnt have space to screw or some was just using chipboard for the base which is very weak. The karlstad series is nice except the legs. Replace with real nice legs and ppl will think your sofa is 2-3k kind Good idea about the study table. the numerar top is a very good solid top. the ikea staff said only need to use olive oil for oiling. dun need to buy from them. Or best is just get Pledge spray. Can polish a lot of your surfaces for 1 item. Going for the 1.2m or 1.8m long one?
  7. for those who dont-want-to-buy-ikea-but-argh-its-cheapest-out-there! you can use hairpin legs to make it not ikea-ish. below are all ikea products
  8. suddenly remembered some things i wanted to do but didnt have time. can share the idea with the rest of u. Its not really my idea, just inspired while surfing. with hair pin legs, u can do a lot. you can order it from ebay. there is some sites that also just sell such legs. u just need to screw to a table top or any solid tops. this one below is harder. saw it around for $150-200 ish.
  9. thanks topsy turvy! got to save the money...then for other items that i cant find cheaper alternatives, bo pian have to buy it. Actually dont need to pay extra to carpenters to buy bedside tables. Can also go NLB annual sale and buy those hardcover books and make beside table or coffee table. And its your own personalized table. For the top, can go ikea and buy their solid wooden top.
  10. hi, dropping by to say hi. good info on the vacuum. Learnt a bit more about such vacuums.
  11. big wide kitchen sink (rubine 810-83U)) from poh joo. $332. Anywhere cheaper?
  12. helloooo, thanks for support. This diywas not a killer...still got another one made me lose weight. I see you also got try to save costs here and there. Managed to save lots? Love the sunlight into the art room hwaiting~!
  13. sinks + basin + wc I will need the forumers to help double check my prices for future purchases. While i did my walks around jalan besar, balestier and geylang, i find that all these shops will sell some items much cheaper than others while other items will be expensive. Considering proximity and pricing, I decided to buy from Poh Joo and Poh Seng separate items. Royal franco's item arent that cheap. arino-great simple design ($350) and wash basin-keeping it large and simple from poh seng ($115).
  14. doing some measurements for my toilet door. We will not be using pd door or glass door. Will be using nyatoh door. pics for this much much later on.
  15. using cement screed wall for some walls in the flat. the texture is seriously amazing!
  16. Thanks choco... the flat was done months ago. Now got time to share the experience. Yah pls do go get it...the boxes are at a quiet corner. And i find it cheap as compared to buying from stores like cat socrates that mark up such boxes by alot.
  17. cement screeding for the floor. Kitchen + MBR + parts of living room will be cement floor.
  18. Dont worry about the rough edges. There will another layer of plastering and it will smoothen the edges. Then you will need to scrap all over again. At least now u got some depression in the wall to follow. Make SURE you do the process fast because plaster dries really fast. Alternatively: There are other ways to do this ... and it would be to have many long rectangular thin rods that you push into the cement while its wet. Then after plastering, you pull it out. I m not sure of the outcome though. And think its wasting more money to buy thin rods.
  19. so using a scraper... you need to scrap out this design ----------------------------------------------------------- |aaaa|aaaa |aaaa |aaaa |aaaa |aaaa | ----------------------------------------------------------- |aaaa|aaaa |aaaa |aaaa |aaaa |aaaa | ----------------------------------------------------------- |aaaa|aaaa |aaaa |aaaa |aaaa |aaaa | ----------------------------------------------------------- |aaaa|aaaa |aaaa |aaaa |aaaa |aaaa | ----------------------------------------------------------- |aaaa|aaaa |aaaa |aaaa |aaaa |aaaa | -----------------------------------------------------------
  20. while the cement still havent dried, i tied a thread to 2 screws and screwed them into the wet cement. This is to give me a horizontal line to follow. I dont want to be using a spirit level while i am going to dig the design out later. In the below pic u can see the threads. In the below pic u can see more horizontal lines drawn. Initially i thought wet cement was going to be goooo-ey but it was really super hard to scrap. Not only that, it was difficult to keep the digging a NEAT horizontal line because some parts of the cement+ sand will drop out.
  21. DIY brick wall Got to say this first...the result will have a raw feel and not the clean straight lines craftstones can give. We just dont see the need to do brick wall and pay 1-2k for extra bricks. I hope that maybe this idea can help you save the extra money. I first told Alan about my idea and he was very chill about it. He said its our home and so we can do what we want with it. So i asked him to give me a call when his workers were about to do the plastering for our kitchen wall. I rushed from work because cement dries really fast.
