  1. these are the missing part of my house... guest room, i call it, the very ikea room! in white... and remember i have a 'foyer' in my bedroom? left is study and right is platform to my bed... there you are... left pix: cd towers from ikea, new addon, i bought 5 of them and put behind study area curtain, this also means, i cant buy more books liao!!! did not take close up pix of my study table becos... friends laugh, the ugliest thing in your house is your study table... typical office table, why dont buy new one? reason, it has been with me since the first day i start my own business... close to 7years liao, still strong and sturdy, got sentimental value mah, ugly but durable... anyway, ikea's white table after put my destop computer and 20" sony crt monitor will warp... this table will not.. middle pix: left of 'foyer' is my study lor, when i use it, open curtain, when not in use, close curtain... the cupboard is where i put my 'ici' for the face... skincare/cosmetics, am still looking for a nice mirror to complete the look... last pix: right of 'foyer' is my platform, behind string curtain is cozy corner where i can sit down and chi-chat with friends, or when we want to have girls talk... then my bed lor...
  2. haiz... already said this reno is turning my life upside down, i become so touchy now, just a little irriatation is enuf to make me fight!!! i am a hammer and see every problem as nail... i truly need to relax a bit and cool down... back to my bubbly self... i used to call up friends for lunch, now i stop doing so and enjoy going on my own, as i dont wish to talk about my reno and my house problem... xian xian xian being single and partake in this reno is not easy, not to mention have to deal with those dilinquent workers... i'm a shorty standing 1.52m, but chilli padi of 'superior quality'... learned lots of stuff from this reno, there are many things which i will never do until this reno, such as, sewing curtains, sorcing lights, curtains, wall paper oversea alone at deserted place which even my local friends were impressed, repair computer (just repaired my mac!!) fix furniture, diy my walls and paint... etc as the paint is of lousy quality, the one next to bathroom actually started to peel off... this one i never mentioned... but its true, water bubles appeared... tell id also no use? probem stilll there, so i have no choice, but to go diy shop, bought a waterproofing layer... paint the wall (off white), then repaint with the paint again... i would say, this product works! few days ago, i wash bathroom and accidently splash water onto the wall, water bubbles appeared again! i used cloth to press it... this time, the paint donest come off! but... the wall beside bathroom is susa.. other places touch water ok, only this wall, touch wateronly got bubbles... xian xian xian the one on the right is waht i used for the wall.. i would say my house is ok... still missing things floor lamp for bedside cozy corner, table lamp for livingrm, table clock for dinning... am going to for holiday with friends end of the month and at the same time, trying to find time.... shopping again! oversea shopping is always cheaper. as for the curtain, sorry, squaretile, cant tell you the price, if not pi-chia all curtain supplier's lobang liao. i didnt buy in spore... i go direct to wholesale/export centre where people will not go kind... my curtain quality is the same quality as what spore curtain maker says... from italy. the purple curtain is block out curtain, to keep aircon from running to kitchen. and it truly works!
  3. hi mist, box up is behind my vanity mah this is pix of bathroom, first pix is how i dismantle the cover, using hammer and this tool lor , 2nd is to show when i close my door, ventilation is still good, 3rd pix: i always keep my bathroom door open, so that i have dry bathroom, i truly hate those wet and moist bathroom.. yee... till now, am happy with the result, bathroom is always dry... !! this was the box up before cover panel installed (view from my bedroom), i have no choice now but to dismantle this cover so that inside can be kept dried... and always try to keep the window closed, so that pigeon/birds will not build their nest inside... to think of that, it might b a good thing? next time friends come, i just need to catch some pigeon and throw them into my oven and then we will have roast peigeon for dinner! when i dismantled this afternoon, i can smell the moist! yucks! but unable to touch it leh... but its definitely moist inside as for the kerb, was in my quotation. told id this problem about 1 mth ago, he claimed i want this kind of kerb! but i never say i want this kind... he most probably forgot about the kerb thing. so he said will put a rubber kind of thing at the bottom of the glass door, but till now. never come and install...
  4. hi lin_stapler, thanks, will go find the stuff. neighbour MaCe ah... dont want to friend you liao lah ... my box up how to put fan.... but hoh, i managed to dismantle the cover, so now i will expose the box up after each bath lor... you say lah... i busy or not, after bathe much mop floor and then also must open box up... why i so pai-mia ??? kiam-cai (salted veg.) mia man! lucky i dont have kiam-cai face !! !
  5. as i said, i'm the most unlucky house owner... my bathrom is problematic liao... found ants crawling here and there in the bathroom , so i stood and observed where the ants come from... and... also found small little insect that can fly... usually found in dustbin kind... in the toiletries compartment... hm... i suspect, my bathroom box up is not water-proof at all now. when i expressed my concerns about bathroom waterproofing to id few months ago, they assured that it is WATER-PROOF AND GUARANTEE WONT HAVE PROBLEM. because i saw ants crawling out from bathroom box up. the cement used to seal has few holes already ... and i also suspect water sipped into the box up, becos when i opened my vanity cabinet, there a smell, not smelly, but it does not smell dry . (a hole was cut when id and workers tried to solve the leaking problem, there also a hole to let water pipe extended to my vanity basin) and the 'flies' are there because of the moist... am thinking, should i dismantle the cover panel near window, so there's ventilation and the box up will be/can be dried?... the cover was installed to prevent insects... or birds to fly into the box up... and then sway sway die inside... yee! or should i buy bygon to spray inside the box up... xian xian xian already said, my house is a problematic house! problematic workers and problematic work... problems not solved, new problem arise again. not to mention... each time i bathe , i have to use mop to wipe the floor, because... WATER SPLASH ONTO GLASS DOOR AND FLOW DOWN TO KITCHEN FLOOR! why dance? becos cry also no tears liao... all used up in the past 5mths xian xian xian
  6. its at river valley, tel 68370060
  7. you can get nice furniture from OM, just a little more ex than other furniture company. but... you get quality, nice design and best service ever! you can look up for jasmine, she gave me 25% discount... my sofa is pu, but friends and relative thought its leather... my dinning chair is comfortable enough, and is ordering 2 more... if you can wait, lookout for their warehouse sale, last mth they had one! i bought mine last year august: dinning table 399, coffee table 149, buffet sideboard 318, chair 98... so its not ex at all!
  8. i would recommend hoobee patrick, tel 96792934, he did my mum's house, nice job.
  9. friends said i can be interior designer... but, i wont make money, becos i so fussy, workers sure dont want to accept my job! naughty naughty plus... there are many things beyond the control of desiger, such as water leaks, pipe burst, building defects and accidents... and to add... no integrity workers who thinks you woman knows nothing (as you can see in my blog). these workers 'forced' me to learn lots of things man! thanks to them... where i even found direct contacts... however i believe a good designer must be responsible enough to check work progress frequently, and most importantly, honest and patience... but for me... cant leh, no time and no patience. too busy with my present work... do work for clients, do freelance work for advertisign agencies and also part-time property... fully occupied.
  10. hi lin_stapler, thank you very much... to be frank, this reno is the most headache thing i ever encounter in my life... there were times that i just wish i can change to another contractor... i regret so many things... but have already paid 95%! so what can i do? i just shouldnt trust people too easily. on the surface my house looks good, there are acutally lots of defects, scratched carpentry... and... and... dont wish to write further. before this, people told me stories, and i asked... what could be wrong in a reno, isnt it just like buying things? you pay and get the goods? it is not that simple... friends said i too simple minded besides taxi drivers (not 100%), people in reno business (not 100%) are ones that i hate now. (however, hoobee patrick is not included... he has helped me alot ) but... i'm glad that i have fulfilled my dream... partake in interior design. have wanted to study it 20years ago, but din... and when i further my study oversea few years ago... interior was on my mind, but din eventually... for many years, i read lots of magazines on interior design glad that i've fulfilled my dream now... designed & furnished my own house... this has also opened an opportunity for me... friends and neighbours have asked me to design their house but... nono... no time leh and... i dont want to deal with those no integrity workers!
  11. not in singapore. however, if you go balestier, can find the one i have in my bedroom and living room. kitchen one never seen in spore.
  12. yup, for decoration purpose. wanted to drew initially (studied fine arts), but dont have time... so decided to sew curtain, faster and easier.
  13. there are many different quality of string curtain in the market, this one i bought wont tangle no matter how rough u handle or play with it, most importantly, strong and each string is qualiy control by me... !! dont say i fussy hah .... and because it is heavy, so it will flow nicely and evenly !! even tied up, it will not go out of shape. the down side is, it has to be sewn lor, because all string are attached to a big piece of something like weave cloth, about 20-30cm, so it has to be folded and then lining to be put inside to hold all strings nicely... if not, not nice because crumpled... by the way, mine is also 3I, 59sqm only... very very very small
  14. this is very strange, i received messages again saying cant see updated pixs in my blog. so i decided to update here: dated 3 may though i have fully moved in. but these pixs are taken approx a month agon... bathroom no kerb, so when bathe, water flows out into kitchen , id agree to install rubber lining, but til now never come to install... as for granite top, i bougth mcarelab sealent to seal it... and then... maybe i did wrongly... now my granite has oily stain and traps dust easily... have emailed them about this problem... regret! gek-kiang lah as for my induction and pressure cooker, very pleased and worth the money, tried boiling herbal soup and took me only 15min(instead of 2-3hrs) thereafter, off the cooker and it will continue to cook... 5 to 10min later, when the pressure is released, open the cover and serve... chicken super tender! cooking time is cut by 70%. highly recommended as for my oven, also very pleased, have tried baking and made shepherd pie, grilled salmon... bake fish... fries... saugage, chicken wings etc.. friends said... good!!! and also my beloved induction steamboat set... made my house warming so much easier... all curtains in bedroom are sewn by me, including re-sewn study area white curtain... very please with the result first time sewing! computer monitor is now moved to study area, mirror is hanged properly... and of course not with the help of carpenter but aircon installer -- sotong , sotong has also helped me with some curtain tracks... as for my carpentry, lots of scratches... can see the wood one ah! how can i be happy? as i see them everyday as for the ikea wardrobe, worth the money too, can put lots of clothes, have also bought many boxes to organise it, so that it looks neat, no pixs taken, however, love my wardrobe very much now. have also bought new furnitures for the bedroom + more shelves for books at study area... paisey, no pixs, as i'm still unpacking... so my house is actually in a mess now! realised that i dont have enough chairs at dinning, have ordered 2 more chairs from OM since my dinning table seat 6 people... the 2 ottomans will be placed elsewhere... however, Om has no stock nw, so wait lor living room without my digital piano yet... all curtains sewn by me too! after moved in my digital piano... not so spacious anymore... the purple thing is my luggage, was about to unpack my stuff, then see the coffee table, photo album and rubbish everywhere... my house is like warzone at the moment, becos unpacking all stuff, and i cant believe i have so much things, have thrown away half of my books collection! and many other things, but i still need 20boxes!!!!
  15. these food nice hah? next time i go there buy... but now i cook at home leh... healthier lor
  16. the picture u have there, is it a cat or a dog hah??? cute, your pet?
  17. ooi! neighbour... i sweezaobo hoh! nick name chio-bu!
  18. i wil try posting but not now, as my parents stay in MARSILING (near causeway to jb liao), and i stay in telok blangah (foot of MT FABER). so i stop going there... just too far... until i get my driving license... patrick is good, ah keong's workmanship is so much better compare to mine!! my mum is very happy about work done, she said very fine work. and i also intro friends and relative to patrick. u tell him aunty in telok blangah, he will know liao, he always disturb me and call me aunty , then i will scold him, cos i dont look like aunty hoh! as for the curtain, hand stitch is quite difficult. i would not say cannot, becos nothing is impossible. however, curtain material is thick and some heavy, so you need very strong stitch... your life will be easier if you buy a sewing machine, i bought mine at $239 with free scissors. from best at vivo city. courts sells it at $269, but if you just need a simple one. $169 got liao... think i saw it at courts. it is worth investing in a sewing machine, becos you can sew cushion covers too... cloth is cheap at arab street and lots of nice one. go to my blog, earlier post and you will find my arab street adventure (where i go seaching for cloth)!
  19. yup, in design. but with research based, it helps me access info and screens info fast and accurate. and judgement is sharp and fast... becos not all info in the net is 100% accurate.
  20. hoobee was the original contractor i choose, but for some reasons... i changed to my present id on the night before the signing. haiz... idiot me lor patrick is a good guy and can be neg. i told him can just charge me material cost? he said ok! and my mum's reno is very very cheap! and workmanship is good. if i say there's no hiccup, i would be lying then, but patrick is fast to the problem and solves them immediately, so am very very very pleased with his work. as for id and contractor, u can forget asking them to help you save money. before my reno start, i have spoke to everyone if they can help me cut cost, as i know if i use glass door, homo tiles etc for my house, my design will cost me 40K!! u know what, no one reply my email and give me solutions. and the so call id has no ideas and design sense, end of the day, i drew my own floor plan, did my own design. i would say, most of them, no design trained, and only interested in making your bills big by suggesting carpentry etc... so, i bo-bian... did my own research (as i major in research while doing my post graduate). easily i gather all info and how i can save money. and then give them instructions/materials to be used for my house. as for the curtains, i save a bomb, all curtains if custom made, wil cost me more than 3k man! 2 x 3m 1 x 3.6m 1 x 3m (blockout curtain) 2 x 1.8m 1 x 1.5m 2 x 1.5m string curtain but i only spent less than $500, and sew my own, its not as difficult as what people think, i would say very easy, 1 curtain 4-5 hours. mayb i should start import cloths from china and do curtain business liao...
  21. of course not the same id!! the wardrobe was done by ah keong from hoobee, patrict (boss) did not reject my request, and the wardrobe is only less than 10% of actual wardrobe price.... the work done is very good, am very pleased to see the simple wardrobe...
  22. hi krisietong, wrong person leh, i'm single and no hubby... mine is simple white laminate with embossed lines
