wa lao!! you know my work start end may or not (but my aircon installation is on 9 june)... my tiling is only 8ft x 5ft only!!! and is cement screed (cos i do laminate flooring), and i know patrick got few projects handover this week, i told him to finish you all one first ah! thank me!!!! (ok la, i know i'm troublesome!) for mine, can still continue in jul as long as dun dirty my house and furniture (most probably will push my furniture delivery), cos jul i have no maid to help me le... but i die die must move in 30th june cos my present house is tenanted, if not i gonna move and stay with patrick liao!! not a lot of things i have... besides chairs, lamps, piano, ottoman etc, i only have 35 boxes nia... i also never ask them do OT, infact i asked them how come they dun go home that day! but i know they have been working till very late last week as rushing for completion lor... i also try not to call patrick unless its urgent/defects which i wanna tell him before workers go further and then later redo will delay my completion, but am a night owl, so i usually send him emails, sometimes, cruel enough to text him but i really dun expect a reply, as long as he gets the message will do. the frames got no picture, its only visual decoration, i have gold, black and white frames! yup, they try to fulfill our requests one... and i'm really very pleased with my house reno till now. and i did a mistake by asking them to do shelve above my study desk la , mounted too high and kinda unmatch!! should not have done it and i wanna the carpenter liao, told them not to remove the protective layer (though they said so that they can wipe for me, but i rather wipe myself than to have it scratched!), they removed again for my newly installed wardrobe drawers, and i dropped my vacuum cleaner and hit on 1 of the drawers! scratch liao la~~ stupid me, so angry with myself and thereafter i get the maid to wrap up all the drawers. as tomorrow is floor lamination, if the workers scratch, i will go crazy!!

hi worldangel, i'm not surprise your house looks good! though patrick is not designer, but he is very experienced and knows wats best and wats not! am super pleased with him lor!!! (i'm really a fussy *****! my eyes are pretty sharp wen come to alignment and details... its not easy to please me!!! ) my friends' houses are beautiful too! he did a super impressive cement island for a friend, everyone is awed by it!! even my parents' simple reno, i love their kitchen very much!! i think they completed my wardrobe cum study cum vanity today le... with glossy laminates now... beautiful :wub: so excited about my new place that i couldnt sleep!

i will always ask their name, dun call people... the plump one!!!! LOL! i guess probably long-ge... the one who talks softly and doesnt talk much. so funny, there's this little corner on the study desk covered, so i asked him, long ge, why din do door for me? he said, the space so small... i said: but i can put 10 packs of tissue paper!! (i turned my head behind and laugh) he took it so seriously and showed me a very difficult face!! wahahahaha! very sure he very scared of me... cos i rejected kitchen drawers where a lot of space was wasted, my super tiny kitchen already no space for plates & pots le... actually, he made my utensil drawers too tall (i could stack 2 trays in a drawer), took up the space that i wanted to put my plates... but i din tell him this, cos if i reject, the whole 4ft cabinet got to redo, and he did a really nice glossy microwave cabinet... so dun add misery to his life further... but these few days, there's another carpenter at my place, also plump plump one, call... xiao-long... then there's a young guy whom everyone calls him xiao-di, they are nice and helpful!! so helpful that they stayed till late and patrick text me to release them as he has no money to pay ransom!!! they are nice people!! but am very sure if long ge sees me again, he will faint! cos i'm super fussy! honestly, am very appreciative about the study desk, cos some contractors told me, cannot la! how to do!!... neh... see see see.. who says cannot do? ho bee can do!! and then i'm going to put frames on the walls, arrange in tis manner, overlap!! xiao-long says, wa! yi-shu (arts) ah, i can do for you! dun worry! what else can i say? i have not got a 'NO' so far from ho bee... only the 10 packets tissue paper compartment!!

thanks its my passion credits also goes to my contractor whom never reject my ideas and requests, things that i wanted to do for this house are very time consuming and i'm very fussy. his workers stayed till 9+pm last nite trying to finish the mounting of my curtain track and my contractor jokingly text me to release his workers as he has no money to pay for the ransom!! i was in the house painting my frames! maybe they paisey to leave!! but his workers are very good and supportive

as a homeowner doing my reno with hobee now, i think i can share my experience. my parents house was done by hobee 3 yrs ago, its still beautiful and like new! note: my dad is a great cook, so there's a lot of cooking, but he is very particular about cleanliness, he will clean up thoroughly after each cooking... and i'm still drooping about the spice rack that they have! its a great house and great work done! for my reno, i'm very very pleased, hobee has done few of my friends' house too! 1 of them came on newspaper! ho bee never publicize his work, the work you see on his website are HORRIBLE as what i told him! and have urged him to put up pixs of my friends' houses! NOTE: my friends and i are in the creative industry (design and advertising), so we design the house ourselves and want everything to suit our lifestyle. aesthetic and functional design is our main concern, we have certain and specific measurement for carpentry, how high a curtain should hang, how a door should open etc.... we are into that kind of details! ho bee might be a little more ex, but bare in mind that there IS NO HIDDEN COST, such as, i want my grill to be taken down, though patrick has been urging me not to! i just dun like to be caged! so i insisted after 4wks of reno! it was not in the quotation, & he did it for me FOC, plus 1 took down and put up again (frame) bcos of some expose stuff... so how can i complain he is ex? he also did for me a new heater point, ex!!! i was complaining and grumbling... and then guess wat? i then realized that there's a lot of work, cos the false ceiling was cut many holes and wall was hacked!!! on top of these, he converted the old heater point to a socket for me to use! now, note these things done, there is no extra cost on the what we so call "so ex ah!!" and as a designer, we can be really fussy into details. guess what, the poor cornice guy was at my place the whole week or more!! becos i added things 1 by 1 everyday! patrick ah, i want to add 1 more roses... next day, patrick ah, i want to add 4 corners, next day, patrick ah, i know its small, but i insist i want the 4 corners... patrick ah, heater point, patrick ah, this and that!!! so the poor cornice guy was either installing the beaming and roses, if not touching up holes cut on the ceiling!! this can be truly annoying to be honest! and i did not hear any complain from ah ping the cornice guy and patrick! and most importantly, my house turn out G-R-E-A-T! (pardon me for my self praise, but i can help each time i walk in, including my neighbors and friends!) when they deserved to be praise, i praise, this build up the morale and work will definitely be smoother and easier. positive attitude is important. and of course when i'm not happy, i will voice out. such as, my laminate scratched! changed! hobee is of course not perfect. i dun like his electrican's attitude!!! i shouted at him TWICE and threw my drink on the floor! pissed! and of course patrick does make mistake such as told me wrong heater and i purchased, but he managed to help me solved. and i dun understand y his carpenter removed the protective layer for my glossy beautiful cabinets, cos some of them are scratched! and i won accept scratched cabient! have rejected some and warn them i will not hesitate to reject if more scratches, i even passed them my stringwrap to wrap the cabinets and i also duno why my less than 2 year old rubbish chute was badly scratched!!! there are definitely problems need to be solved. but then, these are minor compared to the overall job done, as a home owner, all we want is a hassle free and problem-less reno! dont we? when a problem can be solved, its no more a problem. patrick, as my contractor, never reject any of my requests, i do give them **** design, such as study desk below spiral staircase, pull out shoe cabinet etc... he tried his best to produce what i want. well, a great job was done! its a difficult task! and i'm very pleased. :dancingqueen: my reno with hobee should complete by sunday, mon & tue reserved for floor laminate, i'm really looking forward to the completion! my t-blog http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?sh...mp;#entry546061 and yes, knowing patrick will not reject my request... while writing this, i am thinking of changing my microwave cabinet to a pull out cabinet... patrick will not kill me, but long ge (carpenter) would!! talk to them after completion... :lol:

when i went there 2pm to meet my aircon guy (remote control not working...), and saw the black bedroom, SWEE AH! very swee very swee!!! i told the painters!!! yes, the color combination & scheme turned out very well as what i expected! very pleased!! ! the only issue i have is the living room beaming (frame) and corners, the frame is too huge, i should have made it a square framing the roses and chandelier. pretty disappointed with my decision & bad judgement hopefully after painting, it stands out better actually i really pity the painters... besides black walls and painting of the roses etc, all doors and frames to be in matt white!! they sure say 'si bei pai tang'...

black wall, grey ceiling for master bedroom... :wub: Uploaded with ImageShack.us black wall, black ceiling for 2nd bedroom... :wub: Uploaded with ImageShack.us black wall, grey ceiling for living room too, no pix as its not done when i was there. its a difficult house to paint as there are too many roses and cornices, plus the spiral staircase is too near to wall, not to mention the 6m high wall... am really pleased & thankful that patrick has these 2 lovely uncle painting the house, despite the difficulties (they use tiny paint brush to outline the roses!!!), they still remain cheerful and nice!!! i tot they would kill me when they see me!! no pixs of study desk yet cos painter put his things above the study desk... and i saw the skeleton of my shoe cabinet. very very very please.... love it!!!! my request for every part of the reno is not an easy task as i'm very fussy, even into where to use what laminate..., spoke to some contractors, they look worried and made me even more worried. am glad that patrick took up the challenge and produces very good work and result, never a NO, CANNOT BE DONE to my request. and thanks to his team of workers

do you have megaman's tel no? i think i better not use energy save bulb for staircase, the normal bulbs seem brighter...

tomorrow is the painting of the house, in black!! excited... addition corners and frames to living room will be done too... poor ah ping, he touches up the ceiling non stop!! electrican cut a few holes again + cornice... pull out shoe cabinet will also be done yes, am always giving carpenter difficult task. dats y they are different from ikea ma!!! but long ge's finishing is pretty good, did not take pixs as it was dimmed. will take some pixs tomorrow. am very very pleased with his carpentry hopefully bathrooms glass doors too the electrican scratched my wardrobe !!! poor long ge... gonna ask him to help again!! oven and induction cooker to be installed... wash basin and sink to be fixed dismantle all grills, cos i dun like to feel caged! black galaxy granite kitchen top. my frames and curtain tracks! basically by sunday, all these will be completed and monday, the final floor lamination!

lights are all up!!! but i have not put up the shades & crystals yet, all chandeliers use energy save light bulb. if not, it gonna cos me a bomb every month! only few, staircase & foyer lights use the normal type, as i forgot to buy 8-11watts candle shaped bulbs (fr china, dun think can get in singapore...) kitchen chandelier, using white light for kitchen bcos need to see the color of my cooking!! check out the roses!!! shades and 6 crystals not up yet... hi timtim, the chandeliers are up!! but no crystals yet, cos not fully painted yet!!! very pleased.... the study desk is also up. very pleased too but din take pix its perfect!!! :wub: tomorrow.... hi mickey, i would not color the roses and frames, becos my sofa, drapes & chandeliers are the main focus. the roses and beamings are decorative stuff to enhance, they have to be suttle. they are not from interior library, too ex, patrick gave me very good price! super good. so i got from him honestly, i dun really follow any theme, i design the house as i like, never like to restrict myself. whether victorian or baroque or whatever, i have modern solar lights in my house that doesnt match the rest of the deco. esp the study area, it will will be different. so there is no so call theme. its my theme its my boutique home. dats all i can think of. the frames are bought overseas becos 14 frames of different sizes = the price of 2 frames or 1 huge frame in singapore. i paid a lot lesser than $100

Tis is 2nd bedroom. Livingroom halfway done. But I believe it will not be as nice as both bedrooms I should have done dome insteAd of roses for livingroom.

honestly, the study desk is really not an easy task, and i wanted drawers! !! while talking & explaining to to long ge, i kept observing his expression and tone, cos if its too challenging, i will change my design, but he din show any displeasure! and he did it!! turned out bigger than wat i wanted... very very please. check out the rectangular holes you see in the pix, those are for drawers, curve drawers

hahahahaha!!! big fat guy... you mean long ge ah!!??? hahahaha! i tell him ah!! actually patrick's quote is itemized. but i dun bargain it item by item, cos some are cheap, some are ex, i bargain a lump sum from total cost. so i guess he give and take here and there... 220 psft for carpentry... my shoe cabinet is 43 x 60cm, he charges me $500... oh ya, have not deal with him about this yet cos very ex!!! am meeting him tomorrow... my rubbish chute disfigured... my heater switch downstairs not working leh, i think his heater installer wants to come my place everyday to boil hot water for me to bathe ah!!
