Sorry to be away the whole day due to dental and other appointments... DAY 2 of reno The floor and doors have been hacked off The kitchen cabinets and kitchen sink The storeroom is gone! I was worried when the marker for doorway between new MBR and study room was 950mm. It should be 850mm for 700mm wide door and the rest for door frames. The same for the MBR entrance at the low beam. Andrew's apprentice sent the 2D...but tbh, Ader did a faster and better job with a free online floor planner... He is hardworking and has a good attitude, so I did not want to hurt his pride. But I did send him Ader's copy for reference and inform him this is closer, but not 100%, to what we want. WHAT IS LEFT FOR DEMOLITION: 1. MBR toilet wall (pending approval) 2. Kitchen wall tiles and washing basin 3. Everything in both toilets 4. Windows and grilles Edit cos I miss out - 5. Wall between kitchen and living room At this pace, I expect to only finish all demolition (except MBR toilet wall) including clearing of debris by this Friday.

Congratulations sleek... the floor plan and pics look real nice! Just my opinion - you can consider hacking away the store room and move the Room 2's doorway adjacent to Room 3's. You will have a big space in Room 2 for your 2 boys - with a 'private' corner for each...

Good info here mae29....thank you!
-
Ya, I remember seeing mae29's mecha like hangers... feels like it can transform into Autobots anytime - so cool... But think I will go with simple up-and-down type as I do not want to over spend if I can.

May, we will owe you a treat once our renovation is complete. You get to pick one dish for our house warming if you have the time to make it I will make a special Nonya recipe chicken macaroni, fish soup noodle (have to wake up before 6am to get the fish) , or Nonya style popiah (no promise for this, because have not master this and its LOTs of work).

marshmallow is a nice nick ~ just like my avatar in-game name is usually bubblegum, inspired by "Bubblegum Crisis" Ya, same era...lol Though now I am reading Onepiece, Bakuman and many others online. Nico Robin is another favorite character. Oops...better don't show too much of my 'otaku' side. I took a full-time diploma in pre-school education (teaching) course sponsored via SDF years ago for interest sake and because my good friend got a rare viral spine attack requiring clutches. So accompanied her while in class till her hubby pick her up every day I think I was one of the 2 guys in a class of 40+ other students (50% housewives and the other 50% aim for certification to be a child care teacher) ....paiseh...lol Just glad she recovered and I believe she is still in child care industry today

Thank you Kobelala another RT frequent member I see here...hehehe

I will get my wife a laser pointer if she gets gawked at by perv at reno site. Pretend to higlight some points to the foremen or hide at a corner and laser their eyes! No more than 3 secs mind you... I am not that vicious After 4-5 times, cognitive conditioning should kick in - get "red eye" if they are naughty.

Thank you and you are not too late friends78 We welcome everyone and is thankful of all your congratulations! Do share your comments and recommendations, ya?

We will wall mount some mirrors in the living room and MBR for extra brightness without extra lighting points, create spatial illusions, and of course, vanity utilities. But most importantly, we want a small cosy place to clean with as little efforts as possible over the weekends

Passage way, new MBR entrance and storeroom to demolish. Andrew (our contractor) just informed us that the new doorway under the beam is fine. It's the new wall and demolition of MBR toilet wall that required explanation of intention and re-approval... see next picture. Our new study/guest room. Desk + waist height shelves + track light + sofa bed + ready made wardrobe will be included after everything is done. The HDB rule is no more than 2ft of space for basin width in vanity area. We spotted a perfect set that comes with cabinet in GR link with the exact dimension! Our new MBR! The store room wall and old door way that will be demolished for the mini-WiW

The kitchen... The kitchen ceiling is in pretty bad condition. We got the HDB officer down to check repair records and to do onsite inspection. Everything is verified ok, but have asked our contractor to pay special attention on applying the sealants here. Our dilemma is deciding where to get place our new hangers...considering getting those pulley system hangers as we will be using both side of the kitchen. Would appreciate any advice or recommendation from kind RT members here! Here is our contractor and his project lead... Pipe #1 we have to replace with PVC pipe Pipe #2 and conversion of squatting to sitting WC

Presenting the original pics taken (and orientated correctly) by Ader Starting from the main entrance, which we will not replace as HIP has been announced for free essential and optional heavily subsidies upgrading We will probably just repaint the door and get HDB to replace the fire-rated door (because unit is just beside staircase and lift) which typically costs between $1 to 1.3k Living room from the main entrance It is not obvious here, but the beam is NOT parallel to the floor...more like 20 degrees deviation which we highlighted must be rectified. This seems to be a common problem with some HDB top floors as slight deviation from all floors below are accummulated at the top unit because of poor workmanship... that is what you get from the lowest quote in a government bid The other side of the living room with some 70s legacy....

Hello bro and thank you!

Wah... the famous marshmallow your presence honour us Not sure if the storeroom qualifies as 0.5, but it is definitely bigger than most 3rm corner + access area we have viewed previously in Commonwealth/Queenstown area. 60k COV is RIDIKULUS (*waves wand*)! Sorry got to make Ader happy with some Harry Porter role playing...zzzzz But seriously, this unit was bought over from the original owner, so the COV is less than 20k. We just met our agent last week at the 2nd appointment, and he told us demand now much more than supply vs 1-2 months ago after GE. But COV for a corridor still around 20-30k. Yup - that's why naming it a "Lair", because my favorite anime characters are controversial 'villains' like Shinji Ikari from Evangelion and Saito Hajime from Ruronin Kenshin

Hi hafiizh, thanks man... I will post the original conition as soon as I finish 'rotating' them in photobucket...lol

Sorry if my words sound 'harsh'... I do not mean to Bottom line is you are never out of presence or mind - that is key Children develop abstract conceptualization at a younger age now, so you may be surprise what a good talk, making him write an (say 30-50 words) apology letter or shared diary with you, or abstience of his privilege (in replacement for new interest) - can help develop the child's mind, linguistic ability, express his emotion and discover hidden talents.... instead of toughening his skin and shame with spanking... lol Have fun together with your bundle of joy! Share simple domestic challenges with him to solve together (Montessori "hands-on" approach helps here!). Enjoy developing his value system and prepare his intellect to deal with 'the system' in future society. Ok, I better stop here - if not I will be 'suan' by my wife again...

Hey footprint! I will be posting original pic soon ~ so stay tuned!

ROFL This is hilarious and geeky...lol Your love for cats remind me of Angela in "The Office" (US version) Just had dinner with Ader and mum + her sis. Brought up this subject and got shot down! Looks like this will be an uphill battle that will take some time - I need reinforcement Fur and claw damages will be the main problem for her now, so I need to put forth rationalized and convincing arguments for our future 'debates'

Yes, I use to work with schools, primay to university level. So I listen to all "complaints" from teachers about how most parents e.g. load their kids with tuition BEFORE the proper curriculum is covered in class. This produce a negative effect as most kids are 'bored' during class lessons, and their inattentiveness lead to poor results and behaviours. Around 8 years ago, teaching professions has the highest mental facility check-in rate - 3 school principal actually got admitted into Woodbridge that year. Not sure of the situation now, but I can empathize the challenges faced by parents and teachers Just my other 2 cents from those experience.... You know the saying "spare the rod, and spoil your child" which seems to be derived from a Bible verse? This is taken out of context, because rod and staves are only used by priest and sheperds to guide their wards in the Biblical days. Kings used scepters to pass judgement and lead armies. The ideal philospopy is to always communicate and award punishment that fits the 'crime', but never hit the child as that means the guardian's impatience exceeds his/her love. It maybe difficult in real life, but not insurmountable... Make sure you have a good work-life balance as a mother, ya?

Wa....you are really tempting me with having a cat as part of my new 'family'. I still remember I wanted a pet so much when I was kid - we only had gold fishes then (for fengshui purpose I think). So I can only play 'whirlpool' with them, like run mills with hamster, and pet the fishes in water whenever nobody is around....sigh I will have to convince Ader and be really ready myself to commit as well - I do not wish the pet to get lonely since both of us have to work in the days. I have so little time to game now - started with GW for 2 years, before joining the mass for WoW for 1.5 years (got in a top 10 guild of the server with lots of Singaporeans), drifted with AoC, Warhammer Online, Aion, before going back to GW because no subscription and I love pvp - those GvG-er in prized tournaments are pros... Waiting for GW 2 now. Here is my old avatar: Yes, I have checked out lightings.com.sg Philips energy saving PLC for our L-box. But no cool colour light bulbs Seems like we have to take a gamble with house brands plug-and-snap type, China made PLC available in most shops... So far in Baliestier and Jln Besar, we found a pendant light for dining area - almost look alike to May's - that we like slightly more than others 'decent' looking ones for S$380. I agree with you 100% - I love how good lighting decors can bring out the ambience, so even with limited spaces, we intend to get a few standing or table lamps as well Thanks for all your advice!
