  1. Hi guys need some advice from you guys. Shortlisting my ids now. We had 3 in mind. 1st guy is my fiance's friend. But he took 2 weeks to get back with a quote and seems unsure of where to quote for small minor works. Is that normal? 2nd is jimmy from 3d. Had a good meeting and quote was cheap. 3rd is Marcus/James from Renz*. Also reasonable good meeting and waiting for revised quote now. So far I've seen good reviews on jimmy. How about renz*? Anyone had done their Reno with Marcus before? Appreciate feedback if any. Also my unit is a resale condo. Is it ok to hack the ceiling for extra lighting points? I thought it's illegal but Marcus said its ok. He did for a no. Of people before. I'm just worried it might affect its resale value next time. Also heard there might be hairline cracks in future due to condensation/humidity etc but doesn't happen in all cases. I can't build false ceiling as I think it looks weird with track lights. And I really like track lights. And I don't want exposed trunking. Appreciate any response to above. Tks!
  2. Think their service not that good... Can't get thru their sales phone line for a long time and when I finally got thru, the person on the other end seems v eager to hang up on me. And I'm quoted over 200 for that chair. But I really like thedesi of this chair. Furniture Sh selling for 128 but limited colors.
  3. Hi the orange rattan chair is the adult size right? I just called up comfort design and they quoted me 200 over!! I asked if they ever do sales and this lady said no this is so strange. How did u manage to get it for 129?
  4. UGOH: ahh I didn’t know about that! I think the one I bought is the circulating type. But mine isn’t on the top floor. How is the air vented to the outside? I actually have a friend who didn’t even get a hood for her place. Not sure how she can do w/o one but she said it is ok so far We were actually thinking of composite wood for balcony but our ID told us that the couple of times he installed that for his projects, the composite wood actually warp. This is strange to me as I thought composite wood should be very hardy? And it normally comes with 10 yrs warranty I thought? I haven’t heard of wood effect homo tiles. Would love to see them! Ehh we are looking to entertain friends but not expanding the family yet! Wont be for another 2 yrs…haha EVO5555: sorry for the late reply. Those aren’t plastic. It is made of metal… comes with the condo… But we are erecting a wall in front of it. So wont be able to see it anymore. Marshmallow: yeah im very scared of crying babies! Hehe u got kinect too? May_dream1: To further add on, actually you can take out either 1 or 2 suits. Depends on the consensus…. I think the 3player MJ in Singapore normally only take out 1 suit cos my friends said if take out 2, it is only left with 1 suit and it makes the game very predictable so less challenging for them. But eggroe here, a Malaysian as well plays with 1 suit normally with his friends. He taught my family how to play too… haha so we have MJ nights sometimes during weekend. Haha maydream and marshmallow, next time can play together!
  5. Our mirrored shoe cabinet which i like alot! Our storage divan with lifetime warranty on hydraulics Dining chair we got That's all for now!
  6. We also signed a package with CLoset Design for my wiw. Quite like the doors in this pic! Castilla extendable dining table we bought Celini dressing table that i like but didnt get in the end Our tempered glass bellari gas hob. It is real hard to find a domino TEMPERED GLASS gas hob that is both affordable and made of good structure. We almost bought the brandt one but realise it is made of poor material and food/water can easily seep in when cooking. Tks to the HN salesguy who highlighted it to us. It comes with lifetime warranty for the tempered glass. Bellari sink. We bought the single bowl one though. Love the depth of the sink!
  7. Lights from lightings.com.sg We went to search for dining light today at lightings.com.sg showroom. (the only light we bought in SG). We saw this nice chandelier made of swaroski crystal for 500plus But in the end settled for this instead! It was love at first sight! Hoppefully not too overwhelming for our home. THis costs 538 i think. Saw this at the showroom and i think it is so unique! now wondering if we can get the electrician to install this for us too....But not sure at which spot yet.
  8. Onb pg 2, i have blogged about our purchases and here are some pics of the items! (pls refer to thread 2 if you want to know the prices.) Natural Living Outdoor dining set (bar table with glass and bar stool). Got this pic off my friend's place who has the exact same dining set. *one thing to note. we bought this at Castilla SUngei Kadut. Natural living is part of them. The sales person who served us is so iressponsible. Scheduled delivery was end of this month but he didnt even inform us that the shipment isnt even here even though it is almost the end of month. We only found out when we called the logisitc side. and he is mostly uncontactable. SO angry! so right now it is postponed to next of next month. Coffee table LOve this micro fibre rug. we bought the same one in pink. Gonna get this blue version as well (but from malaysia cos it is prolly half the px here). WMF pots and pans
  9. uogh: you are right abt the fridge! didnt consider the small size of our kitchen too when we bought the big fridge. well it is too late though. And we chose white somemore! just gotta be more diligent in cleaning up the fridge FOr wiw, i have a no. of bags that i need to store away. I will be getting a 14ft wiw. But that includes my dressing table as well. We intend to get a part time cleaner to help us with the household chores. Hopefully that will help! The fridge is most prolly used to stock up drinks/alcohol for house parties Btw, ventilating hoods only work for landed? Ours is a condo not landed so i believe the hood we got is the circulating type. We got the chimmey hood cos it looks nice and it has stronger suction power than the slimline ones. We got those charcoal with metal filter type. MAY_DREAM: haha you play MJ too? that is like one of our fav hobbies! haha we can hold a party when the house is fully done up. Where are you working? Im gonna get Kinect for my future home parties!
  10. oh my u just stirred up my online shopping fetish! anyone used EZPZ before for bulk shipping? i really like the stuff from zgallerie
  11. able to post some pics of your reno? would love to see nvr heard of Eubiq system! But we need ideas to conceal wires too esp for our study room. we are contemplating getting a hansgrohe rainshower for our MBR toilet. how much is your reno bill?
  12. haha tks marshmallow + may_dream1 for supporting this emo HTB of mine! And may_dream1, i cant believe you are only just starting your reno when u alr have 16 pgs worth of comments oh we arent letting go of our serta mattress anymore. Was trhinknig of Omazz actually but realised most of Omazz models arent cheap as well. And the cheaper ones dont feel as good as our serta le sophisitcation. so decided to stick to our original choice instead.
  13. sng28, our total reno is around 38k excluding electrical works. Ours is a resale unit. about 5yrs old. 1284 sq ft. We have 3 main bedrooms and 1 study room (store room) and we converted one outdoor jacuzzi into an indoor walk in wardrobe area. we didnt do any flooring except for the wiw area (using laminated wood flooring) and our kitchen flooring. We also do up a feature wall for living room and MBR. False ceiling also only for MBR and living room. For capentry, we re-do the whole kitchen, living room tv console, vanity cabinets for 2 bathrooms and MBR tv console as well as one big dining room mirror. We didnt really reno our toilets cos condo toilets usually come with nice fittings already. My MBR toilet comes with marble flooring and grohe fittings. So we only changed the shower screen and redo the vanity cabinet and mirror. If we didnt convert the outdoor jacuzzi into an indoor wiw, it would save us around 10k. I guess our renobill isnt that exp? An experienced ID shouldnt be charging much more for renovating a condo. The only difference should be electrical costs as highlighted by UGOH due to the concealed work needed. Our electrical works cost 3200 (excluding lights). We got our lights from JB as mentioned in the post above, hence, we saved quite abit of money there. And if you are buying an old condo, then yeah have to take note of piping too.. I would suggest you really look through all the items quoted by the IDs. SO far, we dont really have much variation orders except for the upgrade of my kitchen table top from solid surface to black galaxy granite. Our id offers free installation of kitchen/toilet accessories. And lil things like shifting the aircon from one part of the room to another part of the room is done for FOC. In general, IDs charge more when you request for things that they arent familiar with or never done before. So just get a more experienced one!
  14. wow mosiacs for pipes? that would be exp! maybe u can just paint it black or something? anyway congrats on your reno! our id is very different. recommend ways to help us cut cost instead. FOr eg. we wanted to renovate the whole common toilet and he kept telling us not to bother and that the condition of the toilet isnt that bad. He said that acid wash will get rid of those yellow stains and it will be as good as new once again!
  15. had a meeting with the carpenter this week. gonna meet the id again tmr to choose wallpaper! will be getting black galaxy fr my kitchen tabletop. anyone knows what is the usual pricing guide for black galaxy? mmh... our thread is so quiet....
