  1. Hi Ely, so happy for you when I saw this post. In case I don't post anything in your T-Blog the next few days, know that I'm still lurking and silently rooting for you k? And you definitely have a special place. If nothing else, all your art works and interesting imported stuff definitely makes your apartment stand out from the other renovations in Singapore. Besides, the Shopping QueenTM title is not bestowed without reason y'know. So jia you! Almost there and am eagerly anticipating your completed apartment pics when it's all pretty n neat k? Btw, with all your talk about zodiac signs, I went to check mine and one Taurus woman trait is "Nature and aesthetic beauty are very important to a Taurus woman. She enjoys being outside and looking for beautiful views or places that are particularly camera-friendly. Generally, she's happiest in an artistic space or when she can surround herself with objects that she finds pleasing to look at.". Henceforth, I'll blame my uncontrollable desire for pretty things on my innate Taurean trait! I can' help it when those pretty things cost an arm n a leg too...
  2. I think I'm learning so much from this thread. So in summary: (i) Look for either good slope for easy slide down, or deep throat for minimal splashback... (ii) If "one fingered" skill is not at advanced level, best to go for big or protruding buttons. (iii) Bidet is vitally important... but to be careful of splash angle during use. Anything else I missed?
  3. Wow Lady R, congrats on your lovely balcony and fab windows. Love them to bits! Do post more pics k?
  4. Hi joyous n knownothing, it's the 7000 series. $5,999 is the RRP for 55 inch model, $5,200 with free blu ray player n 2 pairs of 3D. There is a Samsung roadshow at Vivocity till this Sunday. Not sure abt remote cos haven't tried. But I saw the sales guy was using the Samsung Galaxy app on the 8000 series. Anyone else has used the app before? Joyous: I'll pm you in a while. Very hard to type with iPhone!
  5. Hi May, you got PM. Let me know if you get one k? I dunno about the technology stuff, but the TV external design does look good. I really really like the TV base actually, but my SO wants to wall hang it... Must ask my IDs what they think... if support me, then got chance to use the TV base. Oh ya, can download an app to use the iPhone (iPad?) as remote control for the TV. Quite cool huh? Samsung Galaxy also have app of course.
  6. I think I'm doing this too often... anyway... splurge of the day: 55 inch Samsung LED 7000 Smart TV But for this not my decision lar... SO was so excited before buying, could almost see him jumping At the rate we are going... no money for sofa liao... really no self control man...
  7. Hee, can tell you which ones pigu pain at Marquis... Pigalle n Heaven series. We also like the Onda chairs. Very comfy and can imagine having a nice snack with friends there, but unfortunately the Cambri table at 106 cm + 4 Onda chairs is too big for my balcony, so had to downsize n get 2 Round chairs n table instead. Not branded queen lar... I bought the Flos Arco cos the offer was just too good. More than 50% off the usual price... It's called no self-control lor... And then now also tempted by the Panthella floor lamp cos of good offer, plus I think will look nice either in my room or study... very weak willed... Of course you are welcome to my place when it's ready. Hope it turns out nice... now agonising over the toilet tiles color/combi...
  8. Hi Ely, I've enjoyed reading about your reno journey (and shopping tips) alot. So sorry to hear about your bad experiences. Think some of the stuff I've read like the smoking and leering is really too much... you must really have the patience of a saint! If I were you I would tell my ID if there are any cigarette marks, stains or smell, I'll make sure to deduct the clean-up and replacement cost from the final bill. Hope things are resolved soon and you take care of yourself k? Hang in there!
  9. Bro, the cost of the 2 chairs n table I'm eyeing is definitely cheaper than one Ball chair leh... go to the Marquis Tai Seng showroom and have a look? They have some package promos now. Did you go to Lush to find the chair you like? It's just across from the Marquis showroom, so can visit both at the same time. I rem seeing the replica Ball chair at Lush, but the chair u like I don't recall... But we realise must be careful about the chairs, cos some of the chairs when we see online in pics very nice (e.g. the Emu Heaven series), & in real-life also look very nice, but sit on it butt very pain after 3 min... Hee, sorry to interrupt the interesting pang sai discussion. Very fun to read... can I crown you the WC King?
  10. Hey bro, thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas. I will also check if I can install the compressor outside so I can have a nicer balcony. Btw have you found your balcony furniture yet? Apart from the big LED cubes, we will also be getting a set of Emu table n chairs from Marquis. After looking at a few places for outdoor furniture, we like the Emu stuff the best. Galvanised iron and powder coated. E.g. They have loads of other designs.
  11. Hey bro, the max height is 232 cm... since the fan has to be 240 cm above the floor for HDB flats, I think can just about make it. I went with my IDs to go n buy (they were also tempted to get one, haha) and they assured me the height is ok... close call tho! Have to remember to ask them to check and make sure there is clearance during renovation. Why don't you check with your ID 1st? HDB ceiling is usually 260 cm right? If you position the lamp so that the highest point is away from the fan blades, should be ok too. I'm also doing false ceiling btw.
  12. Splurge of the day: One original Flos Arco Lamp Now I think I really need a nice lounge chair that will go under the lamp... Went through the design with my IDs today and will be getting something like this for one of my upper kitchen cabinets for the dish rack: Thanks to Kobelala bro for the idea. Now need to find a dish rack... Also need to go thru the design in detail and see if need to finetune further. Also given homework to let my IDs know how I want the wardrobe config to be... loads of work to do the next few days!
  13. Thanks so much for sharing your shipping experiences Sleek! I used to use Borderlinx, but since they stopped giving 30% codes I stopped. Comgateway has a re-packing service, so maybe I will use that if I need to do some major online shopping. Thanks so much Mach668! Wowwee big price diff huh? I will go to Homely Hardware to have a look. Need to ask my ID where I can put the retractable clothesline. Think by now they are used to my toilet obsession...
  14. Hey bro, nevermind just look and don't click. Can gather ideas for your next house. I love to browse even when I can't buy... online 'window shopping'. Thanks for the update on the Toto discount!
  15. Wow!! Very nice! Looking forward to read more about your fantastic buys!
  16. Hey bro, I think it'll look great as a dining room lamp? Seems to be where it's usually displayed in brochures and in magazine features. I was beowing the half caboche for the stairs lamp at Xtra but in the end decided to save the money for some eames chairs... have you shared the black chandelier before? I don't rem reading about it... I prefer the arco cos it's a classic... we are going for classics if we succumb and get some designer pieces. Plus seems to fit with my house design better. We'll ask our IDs to see what they think. But since we are likely to get Eames chairs for dining area, then yeah, Arco will fit better. Ohhh, awaiting your WC update! No lar, no wall hung WC. I think I can live without the wall-hung... save the cash for other design features that we like better... too bad got cash constraints lor. Hey bro, I go to this website (Nest UK) to beow their designer stuff. Loads of lightings too. Pop by and have a look k? Very very poisonous... the more I look, the more 'poisoned' I get, but can't control myself! They ship internationally too!
  17. Wow Ugene, thanks for sharing your reno journey. Am amazed at how many IDs you visited! You are power siah... Love your desired layout, especially the long wardrobe, think your wife must be very happy! Looking forward to your updates and pics! Jia you!
  18. Didn't get anything today but did find something else that I'm thinking to get: Doesn't seem like it's commonly available and it's >$80 in the store, so it's back to online shopping for me. If anyone knows where to get reasonably priced ones, pls let me know k? TIA! I also saw some jaw-droppingly expensive chrome drain covers... (>$100), so another item that will have to be 'imported'. On the bright side, I found a decent looking towel rack that's around $70. Didn't buy tho, going to shop around a bit more. I also saw this magazine rack online that I'm still looking for in Singapore: Oops, almost forgot my very important magnifying lighted wall mounted mirror:
  19. Hey bro, thanks. Today I went down to Xtra @ Park Mall to check out the Caboche... think the light is out, we are thinking to get some nice chairs or sofa or armchair instead. I will 'beow' your light at your place k? Hopefully don't get 'poisoned' to get one, haha. Hi sleek, thanks for the tips, I've been looking at Amazon, but have had horrific experiences (too expensive!) shipping them back to Singapore. How do you manage the shipping? Mind sharing which forwarder you are using and typically how much does it cost to ship the stuff back? TIA!! Yes, OXO stuff do look good! Yet another temptation... Hi West, it was a unit at level 4 right? Yeah, it was the owner who show us around... did a check and seems like he has been trying to sell his place for close to a year. Wonder if we both went to see the same units? I also went to see the Redhill ones near the MRT station. Some of the higher floor units have pretty good views too. Plus very very convenient. Like 2 min from the station. But the price also very very
  20. Wow nice n pricey fridge. I have been using Bosch dryer for years. So i recommend Bosch if Miele is not in ur budget.
  21. Where do you intend to place the Caboche? Totally understand the love at 1st sight sentiment. Same for me too. But I think... no nice iconic lights for me in this reno cos I'm being stubborn about it... still tempted by the Arco lamp at 2.1K tho. But, I also like the Egg chair very much... so many pretty things I like and so little money... Looks like your reno is coming along nicely, can't wait to see your nice foyer in person. Update: Oh ya, I asked my friend about his wall-hung WC. He said he dunno the price cos it was part of a total quote.
  22. Bought loads of stuff today. Had great fun! 1. Mathmos AirSwitch Lamps One in red for SO, and one in blue for me – controlled by moving hands above the mouth of the lamp. Can switch off or dim by waving hands. Quite fun to play with. Think this will go to the bedrooms. 2. Fink Alexa Windlicht / Vase - Got the shorter one, to store/display my Nespresso capsules. I’ve a fire engine red Nespresso Citiz, so that should give a splash of colour to the white kitchen. 3. Porada Sir Bis 2 Clothes Stand in wenge - So I can arrange the clothes I want to wear the next day… Actually I would prefer it in ‘natural’ colour but the wenge is the only piece on offer. Plus can’t complain about the price I got it at! Yeah, another one of those things I acquired from being a frequent business traveller… 4. Serta Diamond Suite King sized - comes with a limited edition GSS sheep & some bedlinen More pics in my wordpress blog (my fruitful shopping day) - limited by RT's post constraints for no of pics.
  23. Hi West, we looked at a few Forfar units too, but in the end after weighing the prices decided that we might as well get a much bigger unit for just a little bit more. Great view tho, so congrats on your unit. Yes, I went to see the one at the MSCP. Really quite horrid, can look right in from the MSCP (SO n I drive around the CP a few times to check the situation), but the view from BRs 2 & 3 are great. I haven't decided what colour to get for the quilt cover yet, so not buying for now. Thinking of lavender and a set in red for obvious reasons.
  24. Hi bro... trying to be good and get the real stuff... dunno how long I can hold out and be good... Got lobang for you. Original Arco lamp at $2.1K, you interested? Usual is a high 4K plus. I'm quite tempted tbh...
