  1. Thanks so much bro, but I can only buy the WC when I confirm the size leh... that's mid-June-ish assuming i get all the approvals to hack all the walls I'm targeting. Sleek's one is even longer in Nov. Don't think you can wait so long for us right? Nvm lar bro, you go ahead and buy... we self-invite to go your place and QC the WC k?
  2. Glad to be of help! Have you been to Grafunkt & Air Division? They have a few TV consoles n pieces that have a bit of a retro-feel to me... Let me know if you have more than enough places to shop at k? Think I've been rather poisoned by the retro "bug" ever since I saw Liebingsg's reno feature in Home n Decor. Since my new place has a clean minimalist look that both SO n I likes, so participating in your reno blog is prob the closest I can get to scratching that retro itch of mine. Love your pics and moodboards so far. Can't wait to see the end-result of the reno. Update: Something like this for the kitchen?
  3. Yes of course, clawfoot tubs! Shopping Queentm lives up to her name. I think of retro faucets: Loads of mosiacs: This is a fun site for retro lovers? Retro Renovation & blogroll And to bring Toto into this... the Toto catalog actually have squatting toilets. Was really surprised when I saw that.
  4. Just stating the facts... RB has put on his boots enough times right? As for being fierce, take my word for it lar. Not nice to give specific examples of how scary I can be lor... And too bad "Woo Powertm" is not something I can get off the shelf. Almost didn't want to go to May's house cos was a bit daunting to meet so many ppl... Take care gal.
  5. Great furniture featured. I esp like the simple Maruni Hiroshima dining chairs. Shall try to make time to go to Mandarin Gallery to have a look. But I think the turkish lamps may not fit your scandinavian theme? All the best for your reno!
  6. The air filter rental is a good idea! Do share where if you find a lobang k? If not maybe the cheap way is to get loads of charcoal and leave them in the rooms to absorb the smell/chemicals? Will it work? My chemistry was never very good...
  7. Ely, don't accept the crap paint job. I won't even be willing to pay for it. I know you are nice, but DO NOT let them bully you. Have you considered that it's cos your ID has left the firm, so all the more the sub-cons dun bother about him cos they know he's out of the pic? I would get the boss of Ideal House into the pic and make sure he knows your reno experence is documented in Renotalk and that the Ideal House reputation is on the line for doing such a shoddy/crap job. I really feel for you esp knowing that you put in so much effort into getting a nice place, shopping for all the nice n unique stuffs, giving inspiration to so many of us... Think is time to unleash your husband and dad on them. And you have the rest of us fierce RT ladies (and gentlemen) to help you too. I hear from others that I can be really scary when I am angry (tho I suspect the fiery dragon more powerful lar some more have super Dehtm Power). I am also most willing to blog about Ideal House's crappy delivery (and making sure it's easily found in Google search results) including collating all your traumatizing experiences for easy ref e.g: - Horrific delays - Blocked pipes - Paint dumped into toilet bowl - Blotched paint job - Workers who smoke in the house even when working with flammable stuff (stupid or what??) - Ugly trucking - Electrician who cannot install island hood - Stealing your stuff - Raiding your fridge without asking for permission - Being terribly late or not turning up at all - etc etc Not sure what else I can do to help, but really cannot let them bully you like this.
  8. Just curious... will the 50s theme continue in the bathrooms as well? When I think 50s style bathrooms, I think of squatting toilets and a single dim bulb hanging from a wire but dun think you are going for a very authentic look right? You got your sinks, WC n fixtures already? Can share what you bought?
  9. Cheap But I'm giving the bread cover a miss cos I want a white one. Happy shopping!
  10. Mine is still at designing stage too. Perhaps best to look at people who have completed their reno? I bookmarked a few blogs in my wordpress blog. My fav EM reno so far is "Loft of Love" - after I shared the Home & Decor issue that featured this EM with my SO, he was kinda "poisoned" so pretty potent and effective stuff. You can also see some stairs designs I considered from this post. 7K sounds too much... but is it cos you are replacing with whole wood steps? If yes, then perhaps consider parquet steps instead (saves quite a bit)? Actually if the wrought iron doesn't look too bad, then you can consider leaving the stairs alone cos it'll save you quite a bit. If the stairs are already in parquet, then you should be able to just replace the damaged parts right? If whole wood, then perhaps cannot be saved... Can you share the pic here? Or let me know the brand/capacity? TIA! Share the sentiment too, can't wait for the reno to start! But when I think about the bills/costs, also
  11. Yes, I read the thread too! Very informative and useful. This is the one right? - Materials That U Regret Using/Installing Any key learnings from your current place to share? Apart from getting a Miele WM which I can't afford lar... I read about the diff in warranty before, and I also read that in Europe Miele comes in many models and the lower priced models are about the same price as the other brands? Think in SG Miele only sell the high-end model right? So dun worry lar, should be good. Thanks, I've got LEGO friends who have much nicer and more wow collections. Still trying to figure out where to put my LEGO houses in my place tho. Running out of cash for specialised carpentry!! Oki, so now I know I can beow your WIW, blum n quartz kitchen top.
  12. Oops, I thought u meant Sir Poo... hehe. Of course we can go shopping together but lemme meet with Kobe bro n learn some kungfu 1st. After the discussion at May's apt I realise there were many things I never consider like depth of sink etc lor. I just concentrated on the aesthetics, plus there were the gentle pushes from my IDs who love Toto. Re WMs: I bought the 5 yr extended warranty for my Bosch & I'm hoping it'll last for a while! Else the MIG tag no longer good lor. For your place, Sis dun be humble, you now have the record breaking WIW lor... 23 feet... As for purchases... not really lar, I dun have much left for decorating the place nicely... think need some time to recover before thinking about getting some art pieces or nice stuff for the house. Ely's is the one to watch I think. Plus mabbe can convince her to re-enact her Lux shower ad in her bathroom. Oh ya, but you all can see my LEGO collection. I haven't mentioned before that I collect LEGO right? Some of my collection: Can understand why you can't wait for reno to start, me too! But longer time means more time to plan n shop right? Think you can re-fine your design until swee swee. Dun let your ID slack lar, just tell him you need measurements cos have GSS offers n you want to go shopping lor. I'll help you keep a look-out if I see any good offers k? You have any themes/era in mind? Have you been to Hoffen? I think the kitchens look good... quality also very good. $350 psf includes the Corian top n Blum stuff. Can consider getting them to do the kitchen for you? Yep 2, King Serta for MBR n Queen Tempur for the 2BR.
  13. Hey Fushia, just came across the Motto ad and thought to drop a note in case you can find some stuff you like there. Some more pics here Or try monitoring Hock Siong for gems?
  14. Something that cheered me up yesterday, I got my free Tempur information pack. My fav part is the little sample of the memory foam I guess most people would get this BEFORE getting their mattress? But I requested for the info pack only after I got mine.
  15. Almost bought this Brabantia 12 L white bin from the Tangs sale today... But didn't in the end after checking out the set. Not sure if anyone has experienced this but the white bin is wobbly... not a major wobble, but it's not very firm on the floor unlike the other silver models. Think is some manufacturing or batch defect. Was quite disappointed cos for the amount I was willing to spend on the bin, I expected much better quality. Plus I was quite keen to get a white bin for my white kitchen.
  16. Thanks for the tip Kobe! Have you selected your WC yet? I've been so amused by all the 'black gold' discussions that I rem those but not if you've gotten your WC. Miele is a really good brand lar. It's my 'dream' washer brand lor... I self-invite myself to go over to your place to beow your Miele and other great buys I'm expecting from you k? Sleek sis, think you don't have to go n see or decide so soon cos end of the day you can ask your ID what is the recommended config n size? E.g. for us, have some constraints cos of the toilet layout so the sinks couldn't be too big. And then the IDs suggested the specific design they had in mind so that really helped us to narrow the selection. Else really mind-boggling lor. All the sinks look the same after a while... white, with an outlet, white, etc... There is only one man in the RT forum who I think is up to this important task... can't be too hard to guess who I'm referring to...
  17. Didn't think I was that particular about sofas too, but after trying out the smooshy MII leather sofas... sigh, I've to admit I feel a physical difference in comfort level and build quality. Don't think I'm willing to pay triple the price for a MII sofa tho. Have fun at W Atelier when you do go. Have you decided what type of sink you are going for? Recessed, semi-recessed or counter-top? Shape? Round, square, oval, unusual, etc...
  18. We already have a Bosch dryer n SO was quite set on a Bosch so I didn't do much research on the model other than finding out that Bosch was rated the 2nd most reliable washer in which.co.uk's survey. #1 goes to Miele of course, built to last. Understand that Miele does a showroom display set sale every Nov/Dec... perhaps one day I'll get a Miele (like Sleek!). It'll probably be Bosch for the next 5 years tho. Yeah MII does it for me too, tho more applicable for furniture... I love Clei, Porada, Calligaris, fancy lights and all the wonderfully smooshy leather sofas that are MII. Nah, the crown still stays on your pretty head. But I'm glad to have a royal stamp of approval for my tray n bowl from the Shopping Queen herself!
  19. LOL, this post definitely made me laugh. Ok lar, don't be too descriptive else the guys in the forum all think naughty naughty thoughts... But there's definitely a reason why I turned my head to see Ely's husband's reaction when I saw what she was doing in the shower area lor. Oh but must mention that the effect was enhanced by the sound effect of Ely's sexy coo... Wait got smiley some more -->
  20. 23 ft??? Steady lar sis, I'm looking forward to see the layout.
  21. Have you been to Lush as well? They also have quite a few reproductions. Good luck with the hunt for pre-loved furniture! Do you have an idea of the type/design of lights that you want? Btw one of my fav reno blog of all time is "See how Lieblingsg transforms his Tiong Bahru SIT Flat!". Paste the words inside the quotation marks into Google and you'll see get the link to another forum where Lieblingsg documented his reno process. I still drool at his authentic Artichoke Lamp, amazing kitchen n high-tech windows...
  22. Dun worry sis, the stores also quoted me 20% off Toto at Adamas (without me doing much bargaining) but since Kobe bro has done all the toilet research you can rely on his references lar. My IDs also said they can get 20% off from W Atelier, and we may just go along with that cos seems less troublesome plus at W Atelier we can see most of the models. They love Toto btw. Sigh we have been to Lifestorey too but never see any sofa that we love. And XZQT, n Navinzi, n Casa Italy n Marquis (love but can't afford!) n Ikea n S&C n EL n Kuka n Massimo n Lorenzo n Bo Concept n Air Divison n... lost count...
  23. I heard Lorgan's is quite good, but haven't been there. Space is having their 10/10 offers... perhaps some of the offers may fit in the era you are aiming for (and if you have sufficiently deep pockets)? The wishbone chairs are going for S$1,100 vs the usual $1,950 this week. Good luck!
  24. Yep, going with Toto but after the hacking is done since we need to measure the outlet size. How about you? Read that you are going to ask your ID to get some trade discount for you? Btw noticed that you already bought your sofas? Can share the model n from where? After combing thru so many shops, we still can't find a sofa that we like at the price that we like...
  25. To cheer me up since I'm still mourning my lost memories from the crashed harddisk, my SO brought me shopping and we finally got (after repeated visits to the store): 1. A transparent Kartell Moon Bowl ... told my ID previously that if we do get it we'll use it to display mandarin oranges during CNY and she was highly amused... Here are the other colours: 2. And a transparent Kartell Dune Tray... Blue was a close 2nd choice, but I just like the effect of the translucent ripples on white surfaces. 3. And for the major buy of the day, we finally got our 6 aircon units n 2 compressors from Aircon Designs. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI). No aircon in the kitchen but we got a big blower in the hall to compensate since we have an 'open concept' kitchen.
