  1. Hi Timothy, the stools are really comfortable, even for my SO who is bigger-sized. I suspect from the design (and the fact that it's from Interior Affairs) that it'll cost a bomb tho. I've no idea how much he paid for the toys! I couldn't go plus I suspect he enjoys the shopping more when I don't tag along anyway. $3999 sounds good, plus so many freebies. What's the refresh rate and how many HDMI ports are there? Btw when is your apartment ready? Cos I thought offer is usually better during such shows so it makes sense to buy now? Toys I'm considering include a phone with good speaker/mute for conference calls (for times when I need to do late night calls) and an electricity tracking device (more a want than a need so maybe not, sigh). Plus am clueless which brand/model of built-in oven to get. Thanks! Am a brandsfever member too. Atas bread bin on hold... trying to resist buying stuff that are not absolutely necessary. Am glad to have bought the 10L bin from Cold Storage tho. Thanks for your advice babe! It's our 2nd AC Ryan - asked my SO why we need a 2nd one n he said one for the living room and one for upstairs. I'm like... whatever. Some stuff I think leave to the men to do. I'll just give him a helpless look when I wanna watch movies lor. And thanks for the info abt the TV size. We did get a 55" one. Again, another one of his toys. It kinda works like this in our place - he decides on the toys, mostly (I think I do get some veto rights), and I more or less "propose" most of the other furnitures. He gets to exercise veto rights too but he claims that I just try to give him the impression that he can decide... Absolutely untrue! Actually we really haven't bought much for the new place. We have enuf rubbish as it is, and we hate to move (even more) stuff. So we kinda agree that a 2nd round of shopping and decor will take place at year-end when the stores have sales again. Plus I can't visualise how everything will go together so am quite wary to commit to a buy when I don't know if it'll fit/look good together with the rest of the stuff. Plus, feeling broke helps in controlling the shopping urges. So loads of window shopping for now and am mentally compiling a list of stores that I intend to visit when the time comes.
  2. Think have to... Think is one of the most comfy stools we've tried so far. Even if we don't get it, really want to know from where and how much! Thanks for the Room of Woods link! Think I'll pay it a visit when my wallet has recovered slightly from the reno damage. SO went to PC show and bought a new AC Ryan media player and a Linksys E4200 (supposedly a Red Dot Design award winner). Unfortunately for him, I'm not very appreciative of the new toys...
  3. Congrats on your lovely new home. The food pics are making me hungry!
  4. I don't think I will ever go the retro path so love visiting your T-blog for ideas and to admire the nice pics. Thanks for sharing all the lovely places to shop... tho the stuff dun really fit my apartment's theme, still happy to do some "window shopping".
  5. Beautiful stuff indeed... Any idea what the price point is like?
  6. Help! Anyone know what is the brand/model of this stool? Was spotted at Interior Affairs.
  7. Yep, on the over-used bit... it's turning me off the Eames chairs but we still can't find an alternative that (i) we both like, (ii) looks nice, (iii) feels good/comfortable & (iv) is affordable. Noguchi coffee table is too expensive! Even if Proof Living gives 35% off the table, it's a staggering price... Btw have you visited these sites before? http://www.scandinaviandesigncenter.com/ http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/main/search?q=scandinavian The 1st is a shopping site (ships internationally!) and the 2nd just a great place for some ideas. For some real-life shopping, try Foundry at Purvis Street? I can't rem if prices are affordable tho. http://www.foundrycollection.com/index.html All the best in your search for an ID that will turn your dreams into reality.
  8. Thanks! We've actually checked out some places with nice replicas like Lush-lush & Comfort Furniture, but have decided not to get replicas in our new place. That means no Artichoke Lamp or Noguchi coffee table... Thought of you when I saw this website featuring really colorful Scandinavian home & decor. http://page-thirteen.blogspot.com/search/label/Scandinavian Nice? Or certainly cheerful anyway. Any luck with your ID search?
  9. That's good! I read from blogs that it's really tiring to sand down stuff. I think they are really nice. Mind PM me how much you got them for? I've been eyeing the Established & Sons Heidi stools but they are over the budget! We are waiting for HDB to approve the walls to be hacked... fingers crossed no problems. Btw I know you are supposed to stop shopping but just to share: http://www.charm2nd.blogspot.com/ http://bymyoldschool.wordpress.com/
  10. One night only, not too bad lar. Erm, one day for tour? I think 1/2 day enough, keke. But ok lar, rest and chillax cos you have such a packed calendar. Hey rem to pack more sunblock, lipbalm n moisturiser n pipagao for your 'stan' trip k? Think very hot n dry places you are going to, must take care and moisturise inside n out. Oh n hair conditioner too. Sorry if I sound like a mother-hen!
  11. Oh my gosh, yes been there and the vibe is very different and laid back. Think there is one beach resort that doesn't look too bad if you have to stay the weekend. When I was there my colleagues and I did a 1/2-day tour of the water village and that was it! Oh ya, and look for Wu Zun's gym. LOL. How long you in Brunei for?
  12. Wow Sayl chairs for the dining room? Think better offers will come for tech stuff during the coming IT show right? Shopping this Thur? Usu AC Ryan will be packaged with higher capacity hard disk n some discount.
  13. I think the house was featured in some mag before. Really nice toilet right? Yeah the Magic J price is very "versatile"... so as much as SO n I love the idea, it's a no-no for us. We thought it'll be nice to have a little table for kids (like my niece n nephew) when the adults are seated at the dining table. Thanks for your 2 cents! Yeah, realised that we need some colours around the house and it looks like we'll do that with some decor items. SO n I are not the most colorful ppl around as you can tell from the stuff we've picked. We like stuff that are comfortable and easy to maintain so that means loads of dark stuff unfortunately... SO n I spent some time at Xtra testing and staring at the colours. Unfortunately we both didn't like Mustard or Ocean after seeing the colours in real life. SO likes Mauve Grey but I don't. So we may go for black AND white. As for the legs, the wooden ones do cost quite a bit more than the metal ones ($489 vs $319) so think we'll go for the metal ones. My current mood board for the dining room:
  14. Haha, yeah no idea about the price cos I figured no point asking when I can't afford the stuff. Saw the faucet at Interior Affairs at Tai Seng. Very cool but didn't know how to operate it.
  15. Oh my gosh! And these are the un-prepped pics??? Love your place... so many things I like where should I start? Love the: - decal in your kitchen - gives off a chill cafe vibe... - the book display niche - the glam toilet with a chandelier - all the nice lights and online loots... ... Wow wow, am so impressed. And you said your ID didn't like the stuff you bought? to him
  16. Oh, mind sharing what your prev place lookes like? Think will look great when they are all prepped! All the best and looking forward to see how they'll turn out. Btw mind to share your bar stools? I'm still looking for mine. Think we've kinda given up on getting the bar stools before we move in seeing as how we've been to so many places and not seen any that we like...
  17. Oh, me too! 60-ish. I'm guessing you also have loads of false ceiling n downlights? Think I will faint when I see my lighting bill... Hmm... your sofa looks familiar... I must have seen it somewhere before in one of my many many shopping expeditions. The sofa will be nice for big parties/family gatherings! I'm like the complete opposite... I ask my ID before all my major purchases and ask them for max sizes/measurements. I think cos during the discussion process they explained their rationale for positioning certain stuff like TV console (centred, etc) and we also discussed some space constraints issues (like why BR2 cannot have King sized bed). I even ask them about what color my balcony chairs should be! So after hearing from you n Ely I realise it's not normal. Oops. My IDs must think I'm brainless... Mabbe just to share, the advice I got from my IDs on max sizes include: - Sofa - Dining table - Balcony furniture - Beds - Toilet fixtures (basins n WC) - Kitchen sink We also periodically update them on all the measurements for the furniture n electronics we got so that they can incorporate into the CAD/design in terms of spacing etc. That's the reason why I always include dimensions in my wordpress blog posts for stuff I've bought - my IDs read my blog to get updates on my latest acquisitions too.
  18. Ok, I hear u ladies, no more mega-$ stuff k. Anyway nearly all form of shopping is therapeutic for me... I even like leisurely groceries shopping or going to stationery stores to look at pens and highlighters. Think have strong 'gatherer' instinct. @Ely, I tried doing some mood boards. Let me know what you think? http://emrenoblog.wordpress.com/mood-boards/ @Sleek, I haven't seen any coffee table like the Bo Concept one. And I've been to nearly all the major stores and furniture locations after today's expedition. How, you still keen on the Bo Concept one? Btw found a place at Millenia Walk's Parco Level 1 called Oddjects that has some lamps made of driftwood. Thought look interesting but not that cheap. $299 b4 10% discount. My phone is being fixed and think will take a while before I can access the pics I snapped this afternoon. Website is below but not updated: http://www.oddjects.net Aiyo, wait your wife do that you will faint lor.
  19. Not trying to advertise or anything but thought the reno is nice: http://www.propertyguru.com.sg/listing/hdb-for-sale-blk-293-bishan-st-22-5rm-design-build--4342161 Lots of glass in the bathroom. Really can do Lux advert.
  20. I want I want... hehe. I've seen fireflies only once in my life. N only a handful. Is that normal? But just curious do the blinking follow a pattern or is it completely randomised?
  21. Erm, I also dun have billionaire wallet and I can't afford the stuff at Proof... but still can do window shopping rite? I find window shopping very therapeutic leh... U can afford Miele n blum n silestone leh... n dunno-how-many-feet-WIW... Just for ideas lar, cos his stuff really look nice n not run-of-mill. I always beow Porada n all those f***ing expensive brands knowing I can't afford. But look at pretty stuff also quite shiok. Mabbe I'm bian tai/crazy. Ok, duly noted, no more! Hey have u been to the Air Division at Wilkie? They have some tables that are not bad, but not extendable I think.
  22. Thanks! Not sure if it's a real mood board since I've got like 3/4 of the stuff on it... but think good idea to put everything in one page anyways since I don't have any fancy 3D images. Noted on the table, but I haven't seen any like the Bo Concept's one (and I have been looking!)... Perhaps one alternative is to get your carpenter to customise one using Hafele's tavoflex fittings? http://www.hafele.com.my/my/en/news-and-events/news/19874.asp Personally I like the Magic J adjustable folding table by Calligaris (avail at XZQT). It can be adjusted up/down 7 heights, and the table can open up. So you can actually convert it from a coffee table to a dining table when the need arises, or adjust the height to eat instant noodles in front of the TV. The price is quite "impressive" tho! Used as coffee table: Used as dining table: It comes in a variety of glass n wood tops. Agree that it's some time away so may be hard to shop... Alternatively, wait for the year-end sales to start? Not sure if your schedule will permit that tho.
  23. I'm still shopping for chairs... if you want, watsapp me your specs/budget and I can keep a look out k? I know how hard it is to shop with kids (I used to bring my niece shopping when she was little and she was an armful!). I used powerpoint. 1st attempt. Update: 2nd attempt - forgot the TV the 1st time... Update again: forgot the windows...
  24. Hey Sleek, I'm not a 'resorty' feel person but I love the designs by Kenneth Cobonpue: http://www.kennethcobonpue.com/ You like too? Available at Proof I think - saw from the Proof catalog.
  25. Help! I can't decide on my dining chair colours... black or white or some other shade? Was going to go for white, since my house is pretty much mostly white (dunno if that makes sense) plus figured it'll make my table stand out more, but then since my sofa is black, then thought that perhaps having black chairs would give some continuation of colour n theme to the whole of L1 (black n walnut - my console is in walnut too)? Or is that really boring? Or even more boring just to have white chairs, floor and walls? Haven't had time to create my mood board yet, to show the colours n examples... The colours Colour chart Black White Multi-Coloured Any comments most appreciated. This colour thing is really troubling me.
