Actually you can check yourself from HDB website. HTH.

I saw some metal ones from Iwannagohome! (@ Great World City). Good luck with your chimes hunting.

Ha, mine will be a fairly plain apartment... yours looks much more interesting. I really like your lights and the new side table from Forar. That's really horrid of your electrician. Did you ask for some damages or for him to fix the light?

But in a sick way, I actually want to take some wedding pics... I even have a secret shortlist of wedding photographers that I like... can't imagine how to get those pics unless I have a wedding, but then I don't want to have a wedding. Haiz, contradiction, I know. Yeah, I get teased almost daily... today the joke was how come this vietnamese bride speaks such good English. I feel sorta guilty that I spend so much time (& $) on my reno/furnitures and none on my ROM/wedding. Sorry for hijacking the thread to be a 'wedding angst'/'bridal blues' discussion csingeu!

Hey Boyblunder, I'm not too savvy about this kinda technical stuff, but my SO told me he's asking the Hub/Star (??) Troopers from Starhub to visit our place to advise on the Cat 6 cable installation - we may also use their electrician for the cabling. Errrr... is that even helpful? Sorry, am such a ditz at such things. But hope you get the wiring thing settled soon.

Help! Sorry to be a drama queen but really need your advice if you've installed roller blinds at your place... My IDs just showed us the roller blinds (& PVC venetian blinds for the toilets) quotations and everytime I see the final figure, I feel like hyperventilating. The quote includes nearly complete day and night blinds for: - Dining room - Study (windows, glass door n wall between kitchen & study (full length)) - Living room (windows, glass panels between living room & balcony (full length)) - MBR - 2BR - 3BR - PVC venetian blinds for 2 upstairs toilets The sample that we saw for the curtains look really good, but the final price is $4K. !! Is that normal? My IDs gave us the quotation with breakdown from the shop, but I'm so duh at this measurement/psf thing. Mabbe as an example, the dining room (measures 2.1m across)was quoted at about $340 for both day and night blinds.

Looking forward to see how your toilet turns out... so no squatting loos or retro mosaics eh? Erm, my toilet is a monotonous monochromatic dark gray... with white sanitary wares, vanity & cabinet, and chrome fixtures... I keep thinking about and going into 'mini panic attacks' like omg what if it looks like... (insert choice word). And of course I see nice beigey hotelish toilets like Jumpstreet's and then panic a bit more...

Hi Boyblunder, I rem reading tis before: Seashall from Renotalk shared the reply he got from the OpenNet team: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=25567 Not sure if this helps if not can ask Soichiro who just did up his place? And maybe can ask RimBlock the resident tech guy? Hope you can find a good solution. On the bright side, reno seems to be progressing well. UPDATE: Oops, the stuff I read last time is gone! Paiseh. Luckily I saved in my blog before: http://emrenoblog.wordpress.com/2011/05/01/how-to-avoid-ugly-trunkings-for-opennet-installation/

I think DIY is best if you have a creative streak. More of a personal touch and you'll have stories to tell about each item vs store-bought ones. For me, not so creative lar so I'll just have to do more leg-work and spend more. Anyway a separate Phase 2 at year-end is good. My wallet needs some rest! Any time for more photos?

Oh thanks Joyous! I've been thinking that I'm weird for being more excited about my reno than my upcoming wedding... my colleague has even nicknamed me as a 'vietnamese bride' cos I told him that I think I'll just go n ROM 1st (to satisfy HDB requirements), but no plans for wedding dinner.

Hi RB, Oh my, it does sound like a really painful experience even tho I don't understand most of what you are describing... hope everything is fixed and working fine. 20TB is a LOT of storage huh?

Love your place and the lights! Gosh, making me think twice about my tiles selection... Can't wait to see how it'll look when it's all furnished. Sorry to read about the electrician busting your light. Mind sharing what he did?

Glad to see your house reno progressing well. Apart from the TV console any other furniture you planning for the living room? This was laugh out loud funny! I remember seeing some MP3 doorbell by Soundtech in Homefix? $75? Kinda pricey IMO but then the look on guest's face is probably priceless.

My revised dining room 'mood board': And my living room one... Both rooms are pretty much furnished, which is quite a load off my mind (and my SO's too I'm sure, since that means no more hectic weekend furniture shopping). Apart from lights, cos we couldn't find nice ones on the last shopping trip with my IDs... these are what's left to buy - all pretty much decided, just have to dig into my aching wallet to pay for them: 1. Fridge 2. Heaters 3. Fans 4. WC 5. Sinks 6. Built-in oven 7. Blinds

My dear, I'm a firm believer that designer furnitures do not make a nice home... more important is how it all goes together and the furnishings and decor that gives it a final touch... e.g. a Tiffanys necklace would not be the same without the turquoise box n ribbon right? Ok, am waiting for your invite to go over and get more ideas on how to decorate my place! Anyway, I'm afraid it'll be many more months before I'll feel that my house is complete... I've no art pieces, paintings, & not even photo frames to decorate the place... it's literally just the reno and the main furnitures for now. But I am looking forward to this "2nd phase" cos that means more shopping! Hee, my poor SO.

I think Sleek can go for the Domestic Goddess title what with her Miele washer & dryer, and Brandt oven, stove n dishwasher... Can't wait to see her kitchen.

Thanks Ely, but no wall-hung loos for me. The bathroom is not spacious enough... it's definitely going on the wish list for my next home.

Am a bit worried the toilet is too dark vs the rest of the bedroom (totally white). Anyway, fingers cross lar... Hmm... can't really rem the prices but vaguely rem the medium ones are $700++. The bubble lamps come in 3 sizes - small, medium n large. The rest I did not ask cos I went mainly to look at the chairs. Do give Raymond a call or pop by to have a look. Even my IDs commented that it's a nice store (and they made an impulse buy! yeah, that good).

Today was also tiles selection day. I take pretty crappy iphone pics so I'll share what I sorta imagine my toilet will look like: Yeah, dark tiles on walls and floor. Hope I don't regret this! The rest of the selection is pretty cookie-cutterish so won't elaborate further here. Also got a work schedule from my IDs today, and finally confirmed when to arrange delivery for all my purchases. So excited to see my post-reno apartment... ahhhh... can't stand the wait. And why my seller taking so long to move out???

To give back to all the RT folks who have been sharing their lobangs, found a nice new store to share... it's Pomelo Home located at 6 Teck Lim Street. That's where I saw the Established & Sons Heidi stools that I like. They also have the George Nelson Bubble Lamps that my IDs like and various stuff that you can't find in other SG stores cos they have exclusive distribution. Links to the various brands distributed by Pomelo can be found here.

It's made of plastic, so we think maybe can just spray with water if we can remove from the lightbulb assembly... yeah, we also thought that cleaning would be a pain but it's only $200, so what the heck. Oh ya, finally some reno updates! 3 out of the 4 walls applied for hacking have been approved, yay! The remaining one needs some PE endorsement and supporting stuff. Going to ask my IDs how tmr.

Oh my gosh, your bathroom in "before" state is already nicer than many bathrooms in their "after" state. Can't wait to see the "after" state now.

Finally bought a cheap dining room lamp that needs some DIY. It's the Normann Norm 03 lamp that looks like this: I was keen on the Norm 06 lamp initially, but then SO prefers the Norm 03 plus I thought maybe quite interesting to see the patterns on the ceiling (not sure how long before I get sick of it tho!). I've included more pics, info and the instructional video on how to assemble the lamp HERE if anyone is interested.
