Love your mini house model! So cute!! How did you build that? Must have taken a lot of time and effort huh? And I totally agree that the house gives off a happy vibe with all the colours. Plus I love the great view too. Will definitely be watching your blog closely for cool ideas and inspiration.

Hi Timothy, thanks so much for your kind offer!! But I will have to buy the lights with my IDs. If anything I think they are pickier than us when choosing the lights (aesthetics, rims and what nots) so better to go with them. Really really appreciate your kind offer tho! When I called Danish Design Co, a nice lady called Jacqueline told me they have been around for a few years (5?) but don't do much advertising and their boss don't like to loan out furniture for photo shoots. So the store is better known by the expat community and by IDs and architects. Maybe you can call to check their hours? At Domicil, we like one of the staff called Ben. I brought my sis n her family there last weekend and the kids (one 7 & one 8 yo) loved the sofas so much, they kept telling their parents to buy everything. Super funny to watch the kids test the sofas. They told me the sofas are so comfy can fall asleep, stay there whole day, etc etc. And thanks for reading my blog! Glad to know at least one person is using the map. Was wondering if it's just a horrible waste of my time. Hi strikingreality, the Gallery stool that I love is $799 (after 30% discount!). No surprise cos I'd checked the overseas prices from online stores but still... sigh, I've no budget for such frills! Lovely stuff for browsing anyways (online or in the store) if you are a window shopper like me. Oh, I will prob go to Indonesia on business trip in a few months. Can you recommend some nice places in Indo for home furnishings and accessories? Yeah, very rich hipsters! Btw they have the Bludot coffee table on offer too. Think slightly over 200+ and a really good buy.

Yeah, so far I've brought 3 persons/groups to Pomelo and they all love the shop. Think it's great that Singapore is getting more nice stores where we can find gorgeous stuff for our place. The drawback for Pomelo (and other small stores) is that you may have to wait up to 3 months for new pieces to arrive, unlike those more established places where they could have ready stock on hand. I've one more new furniture store I'll like to recommend. It's Danish Design Co located at the Pasir Panjang warehouse where Lorgan's is located. Lovely lovely pieces of furniture, good design, good quality stuff. http://danishdesignco.com As for sofa, I find the quality for Domicil to be decent. Maybe you can pop by the 11 Gul Circle showroom? They can pretty much do any sofa you like in fabric or leather and in a huge range of colors and design.

Thanks for sharing Timothy! I will ask my SO if he wants to go. I've to confess I'm a bit scared of going into Malaysia cos the last time I was there I was traumatised by my colleague's snatch theft. She was just next to me when it happened to her! I would also like to share this weekend find. Really really like this place - great selection of furniture, good quality and excellent design... designer pricing tho. But all fairly unique stuff... think cos they are very new to Singapore. Danish Design Co. http://danishdesignco.com/ Century Warehouse #08-01 100E Pasir Panjang Road Singapore 118521 Telephone: +65 6270 8483 Mobile: +65 8101 2211 The showroom is located in the same building as Lorgan's. I love their... - Aki chair: http://danishdesignco.com/aki-chair-alfredo-haberli/1816 - Gallery stool: http://danishdesignco.com/gallery-hans-s-jakobsen/1800 And their inspiration page: http://danishdesignco.com/inspirations

Thanks! That's kinda what the IDs have in mind... just a simple tube sorta light that shines both upwards and downwards. Never mentioned the bug factor but when you explain it like this it totally makes sense. My SO also wants one that is easy for him to change the lights. That I don't really bother cos... hehe, I just ask him if he can change the lights lor...

Yes he would, but I would really like to be around at that time tho. Plus more stressful for him also. Gah, getting so sick of waiting for the reno to start. But think gotta start packing soon since I'll be travelling so often. Anyone got good (& reasonably priced) movers to recommend? Mabbe can PM me if you not comfortable posting the contact? TIA! Today was a sorta lazier Sunday than usual. We brought my sis n her family sofa n chair shopping. After that came back and I was bored so I tidied up and added some more links to my wordpress blog. In case anyone needs some ideas from foreign blogs or info on local furniture & furnishing stores, do pop by my wordpress blog (link in my signature below) for links to those sites. I've also compiled a list of 20 stores for mid-modern furniture and furnishings... am thinking to do one more list for the stores that I like from my furniture shopping expeditions... Still to buy/confirm: 1. WC 2. Sinks (bathrooms n kitchen) 3. Heaters 4. Fans (still can't find a nice simple black one for my balcony!) 5. Lights (can't find nice ones that both IDs n us like for the stairs n balcony) 6. Small safe

Hi bepgof, I thought you meant another form of 'cold', not literally 'cold' as in temperature.

Hi Sleek, how's your toe/s? Hope you are feeling better. Any design updates on the house?
-
So sorry to hear about the mirror accident. Hope you manage to find the stock at Ikea. The reno seems to be progressing well. Any firm move-in dates fixed?
-
My reno is supposed to start on 1 Jul with protection & 4 Jul for hacking... Just checked the almanac and found some red wordings for: 1 Jul: 修造 动土 4 Jul: 拆卸 修造 That's good right? Need some good news after some bad news at work... I need to travel for 2 weeks in Jul, and another 2 weeks in Aug. Sianz. On the bright side, locations are not too bad - Hong Kong n Thailand. But it's smack in the middle of my reno, and I gotta move house (and pack!) too. Plus super busy at work.
-
Haha, you are not a shopping consultant... just a resourceful friend with good taste lar. Yay boy, super impressed with speed of answer and info provided. Hmm... like I'd mentioned, IDs will hide quite a few of them in coves since I've false ceilings. But we are still fairly undecided on whether to go for day/night or just night. Still quite a lot of time to think about it I think.

Just curious what does "cold" in nature mean? I've always enjoyed the year-end breeze cos it's like having natural air-conditioning...

Black with glitter sounds like the tiles used in some MRT stations/Vivocity? Those expensive quartz ones that costs $16.50 (??) psf? I think you have to reduce the area you want to extend, else will not be allowed from what I've heard. My IDs tried getting a permit for a few weeks for one of their previous clients, and in the end was told only can extend by 600mm so they decided not to spend so much $ to extend by only 600mm.

Where do you want to place your mirror? Hall or toilet? There is always Ikea, e.g: http://www.ikea.com/sg/en/catalog/products/30171849 OR http://www.ikea.com/sg/en/catalog/products/30162982 To be honest, I haven't seen any nice mirrors that made me want to buy them yet... Tried surfing the net and only found this: http://www.designer.sg/products_mirror.html Or you can go thru this long list: http://singapore.angloinfo.com/af/732/singapore-glass-and-mirrors.html e.g. http://www.mirrormadeforu.com/ But... best bet is to PM Shopping QueenTM and ask her I think. Sorry am not much of help. P.S. Kopi n loti from Yakun. Purposely bought loti so that I can get a pic for blogging.

Hi MLau, understand from my IDs that max is extend 600MM and cannot have wet stuff in the extended area. i.e. from HDB website: Maximum width and area of extension Must not be more than 600 mm and 0.6 m2 respectively, and Must be used only as a "dry area" For example, for installation of wash basin or shelves Not sure how much you are extending the toilet by but in case the info helps. Just curious what sort of tile you intend to use for stairs? Actually if the wood/parquet (?) on your current stairs is good, can consider to re-use the wood and save some money. That should save you a tidy sum. Some pics for reference Good luck with your reno!
-
Hi Defelio, here to add my 2 cents. Seems like your place is using 'walnut' for the wood tones? If so, the dark cabinets may make your room a little too dark. Not sure how dark your flooring will be. For the slanted/straight drawers, I think slanted drawers will give your place a more mid-modern feel. But for safety reasons perhaps not advisable... Not sure if it makes sense to do the slanting the other way instead? (i.e. bigger table surface, smaller drawers base)

Hahaha, yeah, just as well... mabbe I can rename this as the 'Vietnamese bride T-blog' Hahaha, I believe good photographer can photoshop well... but need to diet first lar. Slowly slowly one thing at a time... reno finish, settle into new job n then marriage? Sounds a bit like wrong priority but what's another year to 11 years together? Feel old cos most ppl my age seem to have married ages ago n have kids by now lar. Btw sis, I saw this and thought of you. Read from an old RT thread from 2008 that this store is highly recommended. Got some resort style stuff (n those victorian type furnitures for those interested). Supposedly the supplier to Iwannagohome so can get nice designs at cheaper prices: http://www.roomyroom.com/html/home.html Maybe u can go n have a look?
-
Thanks for the info Footprint! Yeah, checked with a friend n he got his night only blinds for around that price too. So looks like the quote from IDs isn't too far outta range. My IDs designed coves and what not to hide some of the blinds on level 1. Still thinking if we need day AND night blinds tho or should we just do night? What do you recommend? For the toilet... hmm... also curious what it'll look like. Long time more tho. Waiting is such a pain.

Hmm... dunno... I normally shy away from the camera... guess no choice during weddings plus I think having loads of 'warpaint' on helps. 9 years ago? OMG Sleek that is young! As in I mean a young bride. And nice to be captured for posterity in the prime of your youth huh? I feel like a terribly old bride-to-be TBH. Oh sounds lovely Ely! Can I see your wedding pics when they are ready? Poor csingeu indeed. Maybe we should move the discussion to either of our T-Blogs instead so he can continue his reno discussion? Let me brush the dust off my list of atas photographer names... Hmm... it's just too stressful to plan for my wedding AND renovate the house at the same time. If you guess how much COV I paid and I suppose can guess at the amount I'm spending on reno n furnishings... you'll understand why. Plus I'm just as picky about gowns n ballrooms/restaurants/photographers as I am about furnitures and appliances. Not to mention that I just changed my job too. I know it's just one day, but I do not want to regret when I'm even older n more wrinkled that I did not have a proper wedding or take some nice pics when I was younger. Think it also stems from the fact that I think I'm too fat now to look good in a gown. Need to go on some major weight loss/exercise routine/beautification routine. Think I'm starting to sound like a bridezilla, how scary is that???
