  1. Hi bro, I was at Arab Street and thought of you when I saw all these lamps at Sufi's Corner. Actually snapped some pics for u but then realised that can be found online too: Took the pic off this blog: Tiny Island
  2. These are not luxury buys, but dun think I've mentioned them before. I got a Dantes bedside table and Sunday armchair from Air Division. SO is eyeing them for his room but they are actually meant for my bedroom and the living room respectively. Was seduced by the solid american walnut wood, clean lines (for the Dantes - the seemingly solid block of wood has a drawer and 2 shelf compartments inside), excellent ventilation (for the armchair) and good discount.
  3. Sorry bro, was just thinking that I gotta contact movers for quotes since i need boxes to start packing. Think I read before that some have used the "yellow ribbon project" (??? dunno the name??) movers and found the service and pricing to be good. Sorry, not helpful I know. Good luck with packing and hope you have a smooth move in!
  4. True lar, love "Red Dot" stuff. Hugo sells lightings? I thought only kitchen stuff? My SO will tell me that my ID will be soooooo disappointed wif me if I get "item xyz" from Ikea. Oh he actually made plans for the lamp! After some questioning, he intends to get a small table to put the lamp and a reading chair. So sneaky. No wondering he kept hinting that I can always 'donate' my bedside table n armchair if they don't fit with the rest of the decor. I think either the smaller table lamp or the wall one would be more suitable. There are 2 sizes for the table lamp and this Melampo series also has floor and wall lamps - some pics below. There are 2 colours - bronze with Ecru lampshades or silver with silver/grey lampshades. They can be found in Million Lighting and in Air Division in Singapore. If you buy a few, might be worth looking at overseas lighting stores in Europe and ship them in yourself. Cos the SG prices are really overpriced IMO. He got the lamp from Europe. Floor, wall n table Table - big n small Wall
  5. My fren's place is quite minimalist also. I'll PM you his ID's website. Can't rem which issue he was in. But I rem he was quite upset lar.
  6. Carpentry all in? If yes then mabbe you can bring a luggage n start sleeping over, but still take your time to pack up the old place? Cos my IDs mentioned can be dusty during carpentry installation. Only 1 more week leh. Very rushed - or are u all packed and ready?
  7. Congrats on being featured! No wonder you were busy cleaning the house and buying new stuff. Hope your photos turn out nice. My friend's place also was featured, but the photos by the H&D team were quite awful. The ones his IDs took were actually better. He mentioned there was no attempt on staging at all. The team that went to your place sounds very "on", so that's good lar. I'm sure will have the wow factor. Looking forward to that issue.
  8. Exactly the same sentiment. SO was fairly 'innocent' before all this started... now he's as well-versed as I am on where to shop... haiz, feels like even more 'corrupted' than me now. He doesn't even like me going to Ikea... he'll keep pointing all the edges and flaws to me until I cannot continue shopping. He only got one lamp, so I think it will throw the room off balance. That's the problem with table lamps... I was trying to convince him to get the stand version but he didn't want. $$$ man...
  9. Hmm... I don't cook mah. So kitchen will hardly be used. Toilet everyday will use so prioritise that lor.
  10. I've sorta stopped buying stuff, but it's now my SO's turn. It appears that he has been poisoned and he's lugging back an Artemide Melampo table lamp from Europe. It's a Red Dot designer winner and the lampshade can be adjusted into 3 positions.
  11. Thanks for reading both my blogs. Let's not count the chickens before they hatch. About a month more to handover... fingers crossed all goes well!
  12. Ha, so many people go to Dhaka? I used to think that I was soooo unfortunate to go... Am so glad I don't have to go to such places anymore! My suitcase was full of cup noodles, biscuits and other snacks when I had to go. Briyani is nice there, but eat already sure LS... If staying in Westin, be careful. My ex-colleagues had strange encounters before.
  13. Aiyo, what wrath? Your kitchen purchases left a deep deep impression on me mah. I also wish I got the budget for those nice gleaming metal but 'money not enough' and need to prioritise... On the wishlist for my next kitchen! SO & I think it's important that the 'reflection room' is nice. Imagine we spent more time picking the tiles for the toilets than the tiles for the whole of level 1.
  14. That's something all 34 of us have in common, we have been to Incredible India... Peshwari I think.
  15. If u stay in the same place for 2 weeks like me, I don't think you'll say that man... I can stomach one Indian meal a day... mabbe 2 if it consists of briyani (I generally love briyani in India/Bangladesh), or tandori n naan. But 3 Indian meals a day? Kewl, lemme know when you get peaches. Yums.
  16. About $2.8K with a bit of change... Actually hor, cheaper than your stove lar... or your fridge too... looks like your "poison" is the kitchen while mine is the toilet. Different priorities lar. LOL.
  17. ITC Grand Maratha is supposed to be very high end wor. But I prefer the Hyatts there... either the cheaper Hyatt Regency just next door or the Grand Hyatt. More modern looking rooms/toilets, smells better and more westernised breakfast. I was quite distressed the 1st morning at ITC when I saw all the "native" food... ended up eating egg whites and toasted bread for next 2 weeks. I've never tried mango from Pakistan... Any chance of some shui mi tao from China/Wuxi? Drool. Best peaches I've ever tasted...
  18. So which hotel the crew stay in? Intercontinental? Next time it's Alphoso mango season I dun mind having some wor...
  19. Thought I'll list my Toto damage... for what purpose I dunno lar. But seriously spent a lot on the thrones man... WC 2 x CW661JT1 SET2 (rough-in: 160mm) with soft close lid [MBR + Guest] 1 x CW631J SET (rough-in: 220mm) [2BR] excl cover 1 x TCW01N W Eco-washlet [2BR] Sinks 1 x LW647CJ W Semi recessed [MBR] 1 x LW651J SET under counter [2BR] 1 x LW665CJT1 exposed sink [Guest] 1 x UM0002 Undermount 2 Bowl [Kitchen] Accessories 1 x 1.25" chrome plates bottle trap [Guest] 4 x ATL 603 Round Angle Valve [For bidet & washers in all 3 toilets] My IDs secured the designer discount from Toto for us. Works out to be almost the same as what Kobelala bro got from his lobang, but with one diff... we asked before at the Balestier shops and were told that if we want an eco washer, we still have to get the toilet seat cover for the WC (i.e. we'll end up with one extra cover that we'll pay for but won't use). W Atelier excluded the cover in our quotation, so net-net I think it works out to more savings by going to W Atelier. Plus we didn't have to brave the crowds, or the sun or to bargain (which I don't really enjoy doing). So kudos to our IDs.
  20. Yep I guess post-tiling would be a good checkpoint. The place right now is just a mess of wires, places for pipes and tiles. Pics are not that interesting other than to update my SO IMO.
  21. India? Ughh... I hate the airports there. Messy with endless stupid queues and lots of loops. N the lounges are crowded and not nice. Which city are you in? Actually we were also concerned if the lighting is bright enough but IDs keep telling us is ok. Hope turns out ok.... Oops, just realised I dunno what is the voltage for my lights. We have gotten lazy n decided to let my IDs handle all the lights & ironmongery. Anyway with a ceiling fan in every room we can't install nice lights... think I will just go n get standing or desk lamps if it turns out too dark. So sounds like you got your lights from all sorts of exotic locations? How about doing an international shopping guide for RT-ers?
  22. Oh dear, now I am worried... mine are mostly LEDs too, and then PLCs for the kitchen n toilets as advised by my IDs.
  23. Hope you find a good deal for the TV and all the best for your reno. Errr, that's all I have! I'm supposed to get the file from my IDs so I can play with the 3D but we haven't met for a while. That's why they sent me the pics first cos I told them I wanna blog with the pics. Wetworks completion = ? tiling up? Sorry ah, not so familiar with construction terms. I always use the wrong terminology when talking to my lady ID n then confuse her n myself. The 3D is really more fun than the pics in real life. Cos can "walkthru" the apartment. Not sure if my ancient PC can run the file tho. SO said my netbook definitely cannot make it. Think my IDs must have spent hours/days on the 3D. Everytime I see the 3Ds I will feel very happy cos like gaming like that. Let me see if I've any CAD plans I can show. The plans also very fun to see... Update: Wonder if can do a youtube video showing the 3D walkthru? I'm sure there is a way but 1. I dunno how to & 2. PC cannot make it. Thanks, such high praise! Hope I don't disappoint you when you see the final product. And hope your dream apartment will come true one day. You never know lar, do you buy Toto? (I do, haha!) I like to shop & I am happy to share my finds. As you can tell I really did a lot of shopping for my place. Think I learnt a lot tho, not just about where to buy what but also about my SO and my preferences/taste/weirdness. Anyway SO and I agreed that after we move in we'll start decorating the place. Which means lots more shopping!
  24. Deliver what goods? I smell some lobang.
  25. U mean Park Mall? I dun go there that often leh. And mostly to window shop anyway. Haiya u see me also never say hi? Notti!!!
