  1. Haha, thanks for reminding me. I've an image of Kidzilla attacking LEGOtown and stuffing precious minifigs into mouth to chomp... scary... Well, my lucky nephew n niece gets LEGO from me. Hope that it gives them some happy childhood memories.
  2. Two things that make me really heartache about my reno this weekend... 1. The sliding windows in my bedroom, which means I can only ever open one side... 2. A shocking VO for my electricals, bringing the total electricals bill to a whooping $7.2K !! ! I've asked my IDs for a detailed breakdown for the heart attack inducing figure. Anyway, so really no mood to post more pics this weekend lor. Super upset man.
  3. OMG... Devastating man... feel for you, I really do. Must have felt like someone punched you in the gut when you saw that. For me, the LEGO are meant to be played with, so I don't intend to keep them MISB. Just that I never had the space to open them up. Looking forward to creating my own LEGO town when I move to my new place.
  4. Hey, BN has quite a variety of blackboard paint and stickers. In case you are interested: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/s/chalkboard/chalkboard?sort=R&size=44&store=gift&startat=1&keyword=chalkboard
  5. Yep... when you see the room, you'll understand why I need an EM... Is gonna take a while for me to unpack tho... I've packed 20 boxes and that's prob less than half my collection... Some of the vintage ones are from eBay. But for LEGO collectors, there is a trading site just for LEGO - sets, parts, instructions, stickers, etc: http://www.bricklink.com/ I also get a lot of LEGO from Singapore stores (during sales, if I can control), as well as sometimes shipping in from overseas since the prices in Singapore are quite horrid for LEGO. If you are interested, you can visit my LEGO blog: http://amodularlife.wordpress.com/ Or read this post on where to shop for LEGO in Singapore: http://amodularlife.wordpress.com/2010/04/29/lego-shopping-in-singapore/
  6. Ok, found another reno that I really like when I 1st saw the pics. This Yishun EM belongs to Prettibride. There are hardly any pics in her T-Blog. One of the RT-ers shared the pics from the ID's website and shared them here: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4853&st=2840
  7. I'll start by sharing some dormant T-Blogs with lovely reno. Ripples' one 1st. Ripples' T-blog - Minimalist Loft: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=21995&st=0 Ripples' blog: http://mwloft.blogspot.com/ For images only: http://s658.photobucket.com/albums/uu304/Renotalk/ --- Whoops, so hard to find the renos I rem seeing some time back (and so many of the pics cannot be viewed!) Will continue to post when I manage to find the pics & have time to search. In the meantime hope those who have completed their renos can share their lovely home pics!
  8. Hi RT-ers, have been thinking that it'll be nice to set up a thread just to share your completed reno pics. So newbies don't have to scroll through pages of chats to find the completed reno pics and it'll be great to be able to scroll through reno 'eye candy' uninterrupted. Do link your T-blog in your post, so that we can continue chit chats and comments in the individual T-blogs and keep this 'eye candy' folder uncluttered. Hope to see your completed reno pics here! Completed renos of all shapes and sizes are welcome... HDB, private or landed... To learn how to upload photos (and to test the functionality), click HERE. To insert links, just click on the "insert link" button above and fill in URL of your T-Blog and the text you want to be clicked on (e.g. CLICK HERE TO READ MY T-BLOG). Or you could just copy and paste the URL in your post.
  9. Congrats on moving in! Looking forward to more pics.
  10. Been really busy with work and haven't been down to see my place and progress. Wanted to share the stairs wall light selection that's on its way back from Germany right now. LINKY for phone browsers to pan n zoom (click on full version at the bottom of mobile browser screen) Anyway tmr I'll have to pop by to see the walls and decide if we wanna plaster the walls cos of ugly groove lines (which I can't recall where!). It's an additional $700 just for the walls that are affected. Plus my lady ID said carpentry starts next week so I think I should take some pics before the spaces get filled up plus I rem promising some pics when the wet works are done.
  11. Ok, fingers crossed then. But I was told this year my luck not good... toes also try to cross... Hope your hubby is ok after Mae's help?
  12. Haha, ya think most ppl will find my LEGO collection quite interesting. When my landlord wanted to sell his apartment, most of the ppl who came to view the apartment ended up looking at my collection and asking us about the LEGO instead. Hehe, ya lar, mabbe hallucinate liao. Realise hor, good to have u as ID cos you can draw also! Can do wall mural. Will be super unique n nice I'm sure. As for featured in mag, that's a bonus lar. Most impt is that the reno goes well, workmanship is good and finish on time so I won't be homeless...
  13. Thanks Joyous & Timothy, The lights range from SGD hundred-plus (after conversion) to a breath-taking 3k for the Foscarini Fields. To be fair to my IDs, they did not propose the Fields for our consideration. But I was curious about the lights that caught their eye so I asked for a list if you ignore price and availability for immediate shipment. Also thought the lights look quite interesting so share with the RT-ers and mabbe someone will like them enough to get them? Our final selected light is quite modestly priced. More in my next update. Too tired today to do up the pics. Looking forward to your update sis. Such a coincidence cos I was looking at Joey Yap's bazi book in Kino yest and I decided I shd just go to an expert to get my reading done instead of trying to understand the cheem-ness. Any honest and affordable masters that you can recommend? 3 day course? Wow! Are you planning to change career and become FS master?
  14. Ya, thinking what to do with the legs. Think would be nice to customise a mirror stand using the legs cos I really like the legs. Everyone wants to wall mount the TV except me, so I am outvoted lor.
  15. Haiz, my stove faces the entrance of my open concept kitchen... Feel so sad after reading this.
  16. Oh, interesting. Cos I always assume they'll prefer 'exclusive' pics (like gossip mags, LOL). Actually I thot I see ur house featured somewhere before. No? This time rem to get the pics from them k? Hope you get to retain your golden touches. Any theme for the Squarerooms issue? To get featured in mags have to submit in issit? So stressful, dunno when I'll finishing unpacking man. I've already told my IDs to take as much pics as they can before we move in our mountain of barang (e.g. a few hundred sets of LEGO) in.
  17. True, I do like the Meiling market. Convenient to have a wet market around and I'm interested to try a few of the food stalls there (that perpetually got long q). Plus I find it so quaint that there are so many cantonese speaking aunties and uncles around. Quite a retro vibe. I would love to wake up to a view like yours (haha, and shower too). I rem staying in a hotel with a view like that. Cheers me up lor. Plus when it rains I like to see the clouds move across the sky. Well, if the old cinema area gets rejuvenated when the BTOs are up, that'll be good news. Can watch midnight shows n then walk home. So convenient. A gal can dream rite?
  18. Hee, finally 'unlurked' cos I read that we are gonna have the same TV. It's nice right? I like how slim the edges are.
  19. Gah... am moving to Queenstown too but no fireworks or helicopters. The view from the clouds looks good. Am looking forward to the proximity to town tho. Think will go shopping more often. Is that what's happening to you guys? Hey, u guys ever wonder how things will change once the Dawson BTOs are up? For one I suspect the MRT & buses will get a lot more crowded. Hope the transport situation is better in a few years time.
  20. Hmm... sounds like the Missus is gonna have a dream kitchen! I rem drooling over lieblingsg's one in Home & Decor... would yours be like his?
  21. Did you guys get anything from his shop? Hmm... can share what he mentioned abt the SG stores? Just a curious cat I am... I'll be going to BKK for a biz trip after move-in, so am quite excited to see what I can buy over there. Any tips on shopping for furnishings n decor?
  22. Hmm, it's no longer available cos the newer model is Bosch WAS28448ME. The current offer is $1699 with a free vacuum machine. If you ditch the vacuum and go to the neighbourhood shops like Everjoint, you can prob nego another $100-plus off the offer price?
  23. Erm, actually wood tiles look 'fake' to me... there is just no replacement for the feel of real wood I think, not even veneers (altho I'm using them in my place due to budget constraints). Probably cos I've become sensitised to how fake wood will have repeating patterns... if you look at large areas with wood laminates you'll understand what I mean. For wood tiles, there are probably only a few patterns for the wood tiles, say 5/type of tile? So you'll have repeated patterns all over. If you don't see the patterns I think it's fine, but personally I find it kinda disturbing. Why not use homo tiles in the common area, and wood in the private/family area? Tiles would be a practical choice since the kitchen and dining area will probably have spills (with or without kids). I also think the use of different flooring material will more clearly demarcate the 2 zones. The plus side is that you'll also save a few K by using tiles vs wood. Well, perhaps it doesn't have to be Blum for a start... there are other non-branded hinges that work just as well I think. Blum is branded and heavily advertised but in reality who really goes and open the cabinets to check for Blum hinges (or not)? I'll rather use the money on stuff that you get to see more often. As for branded appliances... may I suggest Boyblunder's/Joyous' stove/oven? It's a bit cheaper than Gaggenau / De Dietrich, but looks good IMO. Now I know to stalk your blog for yummy purchases.
  24. No lar, I always read ur blog, lurking but never respond lor. Quite interesting that they asked you to contact Cube. Wouldn't the mags mind if a featured home is in too many mags? I like Cube's furniture features.
