Hi there, Just pm-ed you..
-
Thx all for the concerns..really appreciated that.. We have already moved on. What happened has already happened. Now we only hope that our id can cover as much damage as he can and that the rest of the renovation works will go smoothly. Chris > We bought the aircon from G C. Footprint > They are all chinese but still ... yah lor, i simply dont understand why they have so much difficulties and took such a long time to finish the job. Yup, have asked my ID to take a look, see what he can do.. Aron > Yah its pretty straight forward, just too bad, all i can say is they are inexperienced. I even have bring one of them to view another flat then he understand.. sighz.. Hafiizh > thx.. yah, nobody should deserve this to happen especially when we talking abt thousands of money here and also new flat.. but what to do, they are workers only.. hopefully this post can serve as a precaution and help to prevent similar incidents to all who havent got their aircon install yet. Jaskel: Thx... We also quite surprised that this can happened to us, because before we bought the aircon from GC, we made some research also. Cant really find ppl complaining GC in this forum at all. Really must depend on luck to get good and experienced installers.

Congrats and Welcome to the JS @ RT family Looking forward to your reno progress~ All the best! Cheers

yah..but i dont think your ID so free , can stay one whole day just to ensure the a/c trunking ran perfectly well. for my case, was 2 days..gosh~ if they ran it so awfully like my case, will feel very stressed one. from my experience, what i can think of to prevent such occurence again is to: 1) ask them to minimise and hide trunkings as much as they can. 2) confirm that they know what to do, better still if got pics/samples , show them. 3)if sense something, better halt them before they continue to do even more damages.
-
He was there in the morning for awhile, he did ask them to lessen the trunkings and also guide them how to run. It was until the MBR area, the aircon guys told us altogether that they could not run the trunkings in the false ceiling of the toliet and had to drill a hole in the middle of the toliet wall to the a/c ledge. They were the SMEs so we thought no choice. GXXX City. Surprisingly. And becos they took so long, i went to recce around. Found majority of the JS-ers ran their trunking from the top of toliet exterior wall to the a/c ledge. So coupled with what the boss told me, that gave them away totally.

Finally at 6pm (day 2), way better than before!! pipings hid inside the false ceiling, but tiles are damaged..no choice Looks neater outside too a painful experience....now gotta see what can my ID do to rectify the problems left behind by the aircon guys...sighz...
-
Day 2 The boss instructed them to change the smaller trunking at the mbr area to a bigger one, so they can fit in the pipings easily.. ok so they changed it. (they are shoebox size now) Ugly T shape trunking was removed. became L shaped. Ok not so ugly, but still not nice to see.. Then another problem came! The door could not be close due to the bigger trunkings~ One of the workers showed me that..and in the process he damaged the door.. the laminate at the top corner of the door came off.. I was like !!!! I couldnt take it anymore, I didnt scold them of course. I consulted my ID, he told me to get their boss. Ok then i called their boss. I told him I want to re route the trunkings! I want the trunkings to run inside the false ceiling of the toliet instead. And I want him to change a team of workers. He said ok but question me then the existing tiles damaged how? I wanted to explode but i calm myself down, i said i will take it up, now you just tell your guys i want to re route. He told me he will get another team down and help the current ones and will finish the job today. I was like ok. Then along the corridor, I saw a unit open for renovation, I asked permission to get in and see how they run the aircon trunkings. It was done very nicely. I asked one of the workers to see how to run it. Then he understand.. 2 pm, i left for lunch. Before i went, i told him to change to a smaller trunking at MBR area. He said ok. 3 pm plus, i came back. Ok now the way they run it is correctly and acceptable, not so ugly. But he nvr change to a smaller trunking, still use the shoe box size trunking. I was !!! but i took it silently again as i felt they had been working very hard T shape joint removed, became L shape (shoebox size) Standing on compressor and work, "well done"~ T shape -> L shape -> finally a straight line Plastic bag stuffed inside the hole.. to cover the hole?? Hmm...is this the right way to do things?

A sigh of relief.. Aircon installation is finally completed uneventfully..bought a system 3 aircon, took them 2 days to complete the works! waste a lot of time and going to waste us some $ too... Had a very bad experience.. it was disastrous Story with pics: Day 1 For the 2 common bedrooms, it was ok..we were satisfied with the works.. But MBR and its toliet were badly done.. They told us how they going to run the trunkings..we asked whether they can run ontop of the false ceiling/ box up area at the toliet, they said cant, so got to run on the wall tiles.. as we were inexperience, this was our first home, our first renovation, we were like, ok.. no choice ... This was what we got at first: Ugly T-Shape Routing in MBR Awful way to run the trunking in MBR toliet Trunking came out of no where to A/C ledge, Their boss came over around evening time. Found some things not carried out properly. Asked his guys to touch up. Overheard him asking why they used another trunking, why run the trunking like this etc.. Then I asked him is there any problem, he actually hesitate awhile, so i knew something was very wrong.. Then I asked him, can do away the ugly "T" shape they made, he said can.. I also asked him "actually can run on the false ceiling of the toliet right?", he said can.. I was shocked, initially your guys told me cannot, now you say can.. Now the toliet was made so ugly..how man?? We really headache at the point of time.. The boss then told us, you can cover up by painting similar colour to the wall tiles or the ceiling.. and can make a mirror cabinet to cover up a bit.. We were like thinking, ****.. your problem became my problem.. we didnt scold him and his workers of course..cos we thought we didnt want to trouble them, as they spent so much time in it already.. We reluctantly accepted the way they ran the trunkings.. As it was getting really late, close to 6pm (initially we wanted to go to town area to do some shopping, and we couldnt cos the works not done yet), the boss told us they will continue the work tmr. We said ok.

nice bed and bedframe! yah i agree that the feel is impt we got our bed becos of the 'feel' factor too, we feel comfy lying on it awhile compare to the rest
-
Haha emobebe, thats the way i done it..but im not very sure whether it is the proper way to do or not, i think its better to consult ppl in those shops selling joss sticks, incense papers etc..they are experts in this area.. another thing to add: must pray to the earth god at all corners n centre when placing the joss sticks..
-
haha no problem at all, yah your layout is good, kitchen also slightly bigger~ I like the idea of the bao and pineapple together, sounds good haha.. BAO HUAT, BAO ONG LAI AH!!
-
yah i agree, really envy got the space for the divider cabinet and shoe cabinet our layout is different, cant even put a shoe cabinet at the foyer
-
yup gotten keys already, reno in progress.. yah the rooms are quite small, combining them is better and nicer too.. i think for door opening depends on individual.. there are many ways to do it, but dont know which is the proper way..mayb can consult mae29, i think shes an expert in this field.. mine was done by my in laws.. had a few items for the door opening ceremony.. 1)rice n salt to spread over the whole place.. 2)5 x huat kuehs, 25 * oranges, some pink reddish buns(not the peach-shaped buns).. 3)1 x pineapple 4)joss sticks and incense papers.. the whole process is roughly like this: (i didnt get to see part of it because my animal sign is rather small, those with bigger animal signs get to go in the flat first) 1st , is to get someone with fierce animal signs..(like tiger, dragon etc) to open the door, shout huat ar.. then roll the pineapple as far as you can.. 2nd, is to spread the rice n salt all over the place.. 3rd, to place the huat kuehs, oranges, pink reddish buns on all corners of the flat and one set at the centre of the flat .. (i done it for the corners and the centre of the living rm only) 4th, lit the joss sticks and place onto the huat kuehs and burn the incense papers at all corners and the centre
