Is this true?

Give that man a beer! Sure we know quality when we see it but we must be smart shoppers and not get easily suckered. If the local prices and kiamkana 1 year warranty term is considered, Miele won't be getting such glowing reviews.

Tub clean? Don't blame you if you missed it, Maintenance wash was buried in there like an afterthought. I've had some queries about Perwoll Black that I said I used for dark clothes. Here's a link and I'm sure there's more if you Google it. The bottle is slim and looks like a shampoo. It is made by Henkel Germany and is a Miele recommended product. Here's the best bit.. It is about 7USD online. Pay more if you get a Miele labelled one from a Miele retailer. I get my supply from the local Giant for about 4 SingDollars. So even if you don't wear dark clothes, here's an arbitrage opportunity....

Yup read up on this brand long and hard. Not just from postings here. Marvel at the quality of the brand. Then marvel at why Singapore customers are only offered 1 miserable year warranty instead of 7 years like in UK. The only Miele promotion worth waiting for is if ever Miele Spore sell their washers here the same price and warranty terms as they do in Europe.

Looking at your pic, I think the aeroplane sound is turbo whine. Even though flat four engines are inherently smooth because of reciprocal opposing forces, there will be some vibrations especially with less compliant bushings. About your machine, the air filter looks bigger than my lampshade, looking at the stickers, I've always liked Marissa Tomei in 'My Cousin Vinny" but never knew the Chinese shipping corporation (COSCO) sells acid (LSD). If I have the space would love to put one of these blue washing machines in my kitchen.

Yeah why sis? When for the same money you can get Thai made ones.

The drum in a washer is not holding the water. Its full of holes. Seriously though.. The tub or drum size hardly gets filled to capacity with water so is not determinant of water usage. Observe a washing cycle. Water gets pumped in and out more than once.

Hitachi Bd-105v2 Washer (front Load)
cromodora replied to JamisD's topic in Electronics & Electricals
yeah upz for you. (Like selling yr ride on singaporebikes.com like dat) -
Panasonic claims this washer to be the most economical. But it seems they don't have enough confidence to compare apples with apples. Their ad is comparing against top loader. Tilted drum is a big thing abt ten yrs ago. For the same given level, volume of water in a tilted drum is always lower. But those days, clothes are submerged in water when washed. Look thru the porthole of the latest European type front loaders and you hardly see any water. Only suds and wet clothes sloshing around. Electrolux was one of the tilted drum pioneers at the time. Claiming lower water usage. These days the top of the line Electrolux washer also has a tilted drum. But they don't claim lower water usage as the reason for the design now. Its more for easy reach of the laundry.

Aside from washer with that special ability, make sure yours is the special ventilated net for long sleeve shirts.

Reread Post #2 above. He says its a gd buy. And that's coming from a non-LG fan... If you ask me, I say this machine at 830 is tremendous value for money. You should be getting the standard LG local warranty. (Clue: It is longer than Miele's kiamkana 1 year local warranty)
-
I knew the LG was too good a deal! All it took was that honest impartial salesman to expose what a piece of scrap the LG is. Please thank him for me. Gotta go kick my WD14331 washer now. Dang machine been trying to fool me by being near silent all this while. Hmm... what if I unlevel the feet?

Looks like a Miele.

"Erm,, in actual fact, the most efficient dryer in the market are only produced by Miele and a high-end model of electrolux. which uses heat-pump technology." Can you confirm if I'll be getting that special energy efficient heat-pump technology in the Miele activecare/homecare package? I'd be disappointed after paying all that moolah and getting old tech current guzzling resistor type heating element. Now that would be 'shonky'.

If you must die die have a dryer, you can stack it on top of your washer if space is at a premium. The drying feature of a washer/dryer is always a compromise. Even if you buy a Miele washer dryer. Ask Lapena. For the WD14331, drying time is long, but not thaaat so very long. Some users are mistaken. You have to read the manual first. The machine will keep tumbling your clothes for 4 hours even after drying is completed if you don't remove them. This helps to reduce wrinkling. They see the machine still turning and think it has not finished yet. Press the pause button and you can open the hatch already. More info in the "LG washer" thread...

The WD14331 washer dryer is being promoted probably to clear stock. It is still a current model though as evidenced by its appearance in LG Spore's website. It'll be hard to find the F1422 anywhere near the promotion price of the WD. As a guide, a lower spec LG DD washer only is offered at around $1100. You can wait for a promotion on the F1422 then. If you can't, and insist on a washer only feature, the next machine now being promoted having similar features to the 2 LG above is the Electrolux EW1495 at $999.
-
Even if it costs $300 more than the washer dryer?
-
Never knew/noticed the drain hose is short. Look pretty standard to me. Strange you assumed LG users have been using extensions.
-
The F1422TD is a lot like the WD14331AD but without the dryer function. If you can't find any on sale below $900, get the WD.

Cool Down 4 hours correct figure but your info got mangled.. Extracted verbatim from owners' manual - When drying cycle is completed "Cd"(Cool Down) is displayed on the Multi display -The Cool Down is setting automatically when a drying cycle is complete. -When you are not remove a loaf of clothes from the dryer as soon as it stops, wrinkles can form -The Cool Down operating periodically tumbles, rearranges and fluffs the load to avoid wrinkles without heat for up to 4 hours. -The "Cd" message will continue to display until clothes are removed or "Start/Pause" button is pressed. Energy Efficiency 1. As a washer, it is.. Rated A for Energy efficiency Rated A for Wash performance 2. As a dryer, the energy rating is C. Not really surprised actually Even most specialised standalone dryer got C or B rating tops. Dryer requires heating. Using electricity for heating suck more juice. The only A rated dryers I've heard of are those using heat pump technology. Made by Siemens and AEG.

Imported Electricals - Can They Be Used In Singapore?
cromodora replied to wally168's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Dear wally, (I am saving up for one of your boats or do I have the right wally? Do you know Dilbert?) The mains in UK and Euro is 220-240v 50Hz. Same as here in Spore. So, should be no problem. Just change the plugs. If unsure to do this DIY, engage a qualified electrician. He will be trained and knows when to switch the power on with a broomstick just in case. This opinionated advice is valid for equipment for personal use. If it is for a commercial venture, then you should know better... -
A Direct drive mechanism is one that takes the power coming from a motor without any reductions (such as a gearbox). Advantages -Increased efficiency: The power is not wasted in friction (from the belt, chain, etc, and especially, gearboxes.) -Reduced noise: Being a simpler device, a direct-drive mechanism has fewer parts which could vibrate, and the overall noise emission of the system is usually lower. -Longer lifetime: Having fewer moving parts also means having fewer parts prone to failure. Failures in other systems are usually produced by aging of the component (such as a stretched belt), or stress. -High torque at low rpm. -Faster and precise positioning. High torque and low inertia allows faster positioning times on permanent magnets synchronous servo drives. Feedback sensor directly on rotary part allows precise angular position sensing. -Drive stiffness. Mechanical backlash, hysteresis and elasticity is removed avoiding use of gearbox or ball screw mechanisms. Wikipedia Most pertinent is the quote below as it relates to the manner in which a washer motor works. The direct drive DC motor is ideally suited to high acceleration applications requiring improved response for rapid start/stop actions. Axsys Technologies
