  1. LOL, LIM's Arts is meant for and specially catered to expatriates and foreigners who are none the wiser.
  2. Dear All, Can those knowledgeable forumers kindly provide me with your advice and experiences in using this Hexagon Alkaline Water Filter. My sister has been bugging my brother in-law to get it for her and he in turn has been chasing me to do some research for him so that if I said to go ahead and buy it and it turns out to be a dud purchase, he will not get all the blame from his wife and I will not get into too since I am my sister's favorite brother.
  3. The leather stucco that was applied to it to cover up defects was not done properly, hence the rough patches and sandpaper effect.
  4. Hi Kalimantan, The problem with the logistics of bringing in your own furniture is not so much the cost but the risk of damage while in transit because it will be a LCL shipment as there is no way you can fill up a 20ft container on your own unlike the local furniture retailers who consolidate their orders to fill up a 20" & 40" container. I am speaking with some experience as I am indirectly involved in the logistics business because my company supply a key component/equipment to shippers/freight forwarders. Your furniture set will be loaded with other unrelated stuff meant for other consignees into the container and what if it is loaded into a container that is stuffed full of sharp pointy objects that poke holes in your sofa set despite the multiple layers of protective wrapping. Of course you can always recover your loss under the marine insurance policy but that involves a lot of hassle and paperwork. In spite of the above, I am still keen to shipped in some furniture pieces on my own in the near future but have yet to muster enough motivation to finally do it. You may well have to be the guinea pig (pioneer) in this instance and I will be learning from your experience.
  5. It is illegal to just take things from the shop without permission. Only those who have already won their claim in the SCT can obtain a court order for a writ of seizure to entitle them to take those things. The rest of the victims have committed a criminal offence through their actions. Suggest those who have already obtained judgment in the SCT to act without further delay and seize whatever items of value they can find in the retail outlet/warehouse before it is all gone.
  6. If it is really a natural leather scar mark then it should be good quality leather as it has not been covered up with an artificial grain, so that means either your sales staff failed to educate the customer on what good quality leather is all about or they did not realized what the customer really wants as some customers go for looks over quality.
  7. Focus TNL Office Concept is also at Enterprise Hub so you will be able to do a direct comparison.
  8. Did you go to their head office at Enterprise Hub? I find their range of office chairs is the same as anywhere else. You can try Focus TNL Office Concept where I bought my office chair but Lizo is the only one that sells a wide range of real genuine leather office chairs albeit half leather ones as the rest of the other retailers usually sell only PU leather office chairs.
  9. I have been using the Airfree Air Sterilizer for the past 4 years. I bought 2 units and each unit is supposed to clean 550 sq ft each. I used both units in my 300 sq ft master bedroom which means an overkill of multiple times over. I had a very slight mold problem before I bought the Airfree Air Sterilizer direct from the Distributor. My entire bedroom ceiling is now covered with mold and I will need to repaint the whole bedroom ceiling. I live on the top floor and it bright and breezy in all my rooms. I close the windows all the time as the Airfree Air Sterilizers are supposed to work best in confined spaces. I wonder if there are any other suckers out there who have been self-conned (I was conned by all the test reports) into purchasing this useless piece of crap. As I am using my real name here, I welcome the Distributor to contact me and visit my house to prove me wrong since you will be able to trace my records. I am not a novice when it comes to air filters and sterilizers as I owned many sets from many brands since 1994.
  10. Why don't you try to go down to their office and see if it is really sealed off as claimed by Solution? If it is really the case, having Daren h/p number is really of no use as there is no reason why he should favour you over the rest of the other victims. In any case, I doubt Shawn will want to piss off his "friend" by revealing his number to you.
  11. Leather PH value is around 3 to 5. Using tap water is not good for leather as it is usually more likely to be alkaline. One thing I have learn from experience in dealing with leather is that you must know exactly what type of leather you have before you can even consider cleaning and conditioning it. Use the wrong product and it will be a very painful and costly mistake.
  12. Lizo office chairs are made in China. The seating portion is real leather but the sides and non seating portions are PU leather. I had spoken to their company director about making some bulk order purchases last year. They are quite alright in my humble opinion as they do replace defective chairs without any hassle.
  13. But our advices to the forum members usually fall on deaf ears, Bro Kalimantan. By the way, Bro Kalimantan, can you please help kuruvis with the contact details for your leather sofa as he is pretty keen to know more about your superb quality leather sofa
  14. Hey yeoyeo, if you can post a picture of the wrinkle on the leather, we should be able to tell you straightaway if EL can solve the problem or not and whether it is actually a defect in the first place.
  15. China is very fond of PU Leather. I recently reholstered my cushions and sofa seat in real Italian leather. The difference in quality is really worth the price. I really enjoyed seating on it now. I recently decided that I too will not buy any sofa or mattress that is made in China.
  16. Bonded leather usually fails when the surface starts to develop tiny tears that spread gradually. If you want real leather that is glossy, you can try making enquiries with this leather hide merchant at http://www.alltrends.com.sg/Leather-for-Shoes--and--Leathergoods.php OR this leather furniture re upholsterer at http://shop.apex5.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=34 There are many furniture shops that sell glossy finishing leather sofas but they are mainly PU leathers which are even worse than Bonded leather.
  17. Real Leather by means of recycling means it is actually Bonded Leather. This leather which is made from leather scraps is durable for about 2 years Only. It does gives new meaning to the meaning of Durable/durability.
  18. For pure aniline finished leather sofa which is very rare in Singapore, it is not advisable to clean it with anything other than a slightly damp cloth because it will absorb almost anything and stains very easily. Prevention is better than the cure in this instance.
  19. Bro, you are a furniture connoisseur. Not easy to cheat you of your money now when it comes to furniture purchase. I am extremely wary of all furniture retailers except those selling exclusive teak wood furniture as there are hardly any fake teak
  20. There is no way you are going to get quality Italian leather at $800, especially not in China.
  21. Your leather is definitely a corrected grain leather with an artificial grain impressed into the surface. They used a layer of stucco to coat the leather before adding on the artificial grain. Leather Stucco is usually a water-based, highly concentrated acrylic paste that fills-in leather scratches and holes. The photos showed that the stucco have cracked and not the leather itself but the first photo showed a much deeper crack. I know how to use leather repair kits because I ordered them online several years back to DIY my cracked car leather seats. The tricky part is repainting the repaired surface to match the original color and I only finally got it right on my 5th attempt. I would suggest you get one of the leather sofa repairers in Singapore to repair the sofa if it is less than 3 years old. Otherwise, best to start looking for a new leather sofa. By the way, your leather artificial grains pattern (photo on extreme left) is the same exact pattern as the one on my leather office chair which I am sitting on right now as I am typing this paragraph.
  22. There could only be 2 reasons why the shipment is still stuck in China. Either they are waiting to consolidate more orders to maximize container space OR the China factory is withholding the shipment because they have yet to be paid for this shipment or other previous orders.
  23. Hi Arcadia, When you sit down on your sofa, do you experience any sunken feeling like as though the foam is not dense enough to support your weight? If that is the case, then the leather will become loose because it has been stretch by the constant seating motion and weight being applied to the same spot. The problem will be made worse if the leather is too thin as pointed out by you. My Italian leather seat is also very loose with lots of waves but that is because I chose to use back the old foam which cannot be expected to be a good fit so I am prepared to live with it and in any case, I can always insert new foams to solve the problem. In your case, as this is a new sofa, it would be unreasonable to expect you to live with it. But if this is a production quality issue, then every set of this particular model will encounter the same issues so I am not sure if these retailer is prepared to rectify it unless they are also the manufacturer. You can also try complaining about the stains and use that as an added pressure to get them to do something about the whole sofa but there is a possibility they will say the stain was created by yourself but let's see how they go about trying to defend themselves on the deterioration of the artificial grains.
  24. The Full Grain Italian Leather Cushion and seat covers were finally delivered to me this week after almost a month. Took them almost 2 weeks to shipped it in as they do not keep stock in Singapore because of poor demand. The colors are not my first choice but I had no choice but to select them as they were the type of semi aniline finishing that I wanted. I had to struggle a little bit to fit them onto my old cushions and seats as I was using back my own high density foam because it was still in good condition despite being used daily for the last 9 years. The photos are unable to show the natural grains and scars clearly but I am very happy to see one or two healed scars, a fair bit of veining or stretch marks on my leather surface as proof that it is full grain and semi aniline. Semi-aniline leather tends to have a waxy feel and is softer than corrected grain leather due to only a thin layer of pigment being used to coat its surface. This also allows natural markings in the leather to show through such as hair follicles, scars and bite marks. Semi-aniline leather sofas are suitable for people who want to see the natural beauty of leather but would also like the durability and some of the colour consistency that comes with corrected grain leather. In the second picture, you will see A.rte Sofa's recliner. As the both are side by side each other, I am able to physically compare and feel the leather quality of both at the same time. The leather quality of A.rte Sofa is surprisingly almost as good as the Italian Leather cushion covers in terms of texture and appearance and they only cost about half the price of the Italian Leather as they were made in Malaysia. Only time will tell if there is really any difference between the 2 of them. The craftsman who came to my house to take the physical measurements for my seat and cushion covers told me that if I take good care of the Italian Leather, it should last a minimum of 10+ years. I paid $1750 for my Italian Leather cushion and seat covers and $1100 for my A.rte Recliner.
  25. I can see from the leather grains that this is a corrected grain leather with the imperfections corrected or sanded off, and an artificial grain impressed into the surface. Did you accidentally dropped some liquid onto the leather surface recently or was the leather delivered to you on a rainy day? I am not sure if using a leather cleaner will remove those stains or make it worse. As for the last picture, the artificial grain has started to come apart, again the cause is a mystery. It will be difficult to give you any advice on treating the leather unless we know the exact cause. I have learn through the years that it is extremely important to clean leather using a slightly damp cloth as too much liquid will cause long term damage to the leather without you realizing it until it is too late.
