  1. i've never pour hot oil into the sink! XD think of your poor pipes!!! and the pollution. i always discard oil only when its cooled and that's into the bin bagged in plastic bag.. as for the one spoon of oil scenarios, i will just use kitchen towels to soak up den reuse the pot/wok/pan. i think it boils down to cooking habits. i forbid my helper to do that too.. XD on another another side note... its easier with an airfryer to cook oily food!
  2. gd luck! i don't think u will regret black galaxy either.. it's really pretty.
  3. congrats!!! welcome to the neighbourhood!
  4. WHITE? good luck with the stains.. i was planning to put marble for my living + dining flooring but decided against it coz of upkeep. instead.. to compromise with my husband's love for marble, we chosen to buy a dining table with volakas marble top. even so, i'm already "headache-ing" the future maintenance of it. i would recommend black galaxy coz stains cant be easily seen and has similar properties as marble.. white is not for the faint hearted!
  5. hi battle.. i've got the info here.. Leyon Collections Address: 59 Upper East Coast Road, Singapore 455217 Tel: 6441 1826 we bought stuff from them 5/6 yrs ago when we bought our first place.. we are still buying stuff from them! hahaha!
  6. any tile shops would carry it. the brand is craftstone. the faux bricks are under the craftbricks series..
  7. this was delivered to our "storage place" last friday.. its a children sized teak bench and it is just so adorable! my girls love sitting on it and they would laugh and giggle. i almost have this crazy idea to do a local vintage/retro theme in their room!
  8. voting for 5th... seems like u like the "glass" theme.. so picked that but in a easier maintenance design.
  9. XD actually ur quote is even higher than my EM quote. painting we were only quoted 1.8k for whole house ya.. and at the price of ur bi-fold door.. even our PD door quote was cheaper..
  10. I decided to go with Blanco sinks this time round.. Our first visit to Hoe Kee (IMM) was really a so-so experience. The sales people were trailing us constantly, when you say you are only browsing, they would just walk off and not give you any attention. So we decided to try the other Hoe Kee we went to 5 yrs ago at Genting Road, we even saw the same old uncle who served us then! When I saw this sink, I was hooked and the price was cheaper than the Franke sink combos I saw at Royal Franco. CLOSE UP SHOT!!! Hopefully I will not regret this Granite sink.
  11. i've got a maid.. but i've also got 3 kids too.. so i prefer to keep my house low maintenance as much as possible.. XD
  12. yes~ its a tile. its amazing.. it's even textured like wood!!
  13. Some random notes on the tiles selection.... * living + dining + balcony - We (more of my Hubs) initially wanted marble flooring for these areas.. However, I wasn't keen on it. With 3 kids, maintenance is going to be a b*tch of a headache if someone spills something and decides not to tell. RAWRS! So we (more of I) decided to go for a lookalike.. * recess area tiles - it will be from the same series as my kitchen floor tiles (ergon woodtalk tiles) but in another colour. i forgot to take a snapshot of it.. but here's a pic i screenshot from the catalog. =P * kitchen floor tiles - I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS! I can't help but keep stroking it each time I see it. hahaha! i've also attached a screen shot of its "full effect" from the catalog. I realised I didn't take photos of my two common toilet floor tiles, my kitchen's subway wall tiles and the small toilet wall tiles.. XD Oh well... Our initial Kids toilet design was the colourful mosaic.. Which I couldn't live with.. So we compromised (the hubs did grudgingly) to this baby blue-grey ones. =P
  14. On Sat.. We went to Hup Kiong to re-"select" our tiles.. My Hubs think the multiple selections is due to me having "pregnancy brains".. XD Here's some of our confirmed selection.. Living + Dining + Balcony (balcony will be flushed with the living) MBR Toilet Kitchen Flooring (my fav. of the lot) Upstairs Common Toilet's Mosaic (also normally known as the Kids toilet) Upstairs Common Toilet's White Wall Tiles
  15. nice nice! ur reno is really daring and impressive.
  16. thanksss.... budget burst liao. hahahaha.. almost to the point of contemplating ikea chairs for the table. will try to post up more pics soon.
  17. the eames replica?? might wanna check out lorgans.. the replica seems better made there.. alto i am looking at picket n rail's designer replicas too.. sigh. but so out of budget!
  18. drooling over your brick wall.. will you be painting it white or leaving it raw? really like the pino funnel!!! get that pls!
  19. hi potatoes~ we r planning to use this contractor as he has done a few big jobs for my mum and the workmanship is pretty good. current quote is 62k. staircase + railings - we will try to retain the parquet on the steps but replace new railings. railings r really... "orbit" rewiring + plaster - confirm yes.. even replumbing too.. hahahaha.. i think furnishing is another nightmare.. we are constantly battling btwn the case of need n want.
  20. mine are 4 yrs apart.. my eldest is 6 this yr and 2nd will turn 2.. budget ah.. we are still trying to work it out.. my contractor has came back with his quote.. 62k! and this is without electrical.. and some of the items are highly inflated but some are really reasonable n cheap. however, in the quote the materials said were not what we specify.. so must throw back at him again soon!
  21. i have two girls too! lol.. expecting a boy this time round. (or rather the doc thinks its a boy) my whole block is about 12 stories for EM and on the 13th floor there's a hidden EA unit there.
  22. We decided to start shopping early as I am pregnant with our no. 3 and will deliver really close to the renovation period or just right after so we really had to get start looking early. I have been eying this dining table for the longest time because it fulfills a few of my requirements.. It has to be wooden legs (no steel for me), no sharp ages as we've got 3 young children and most importantly no pedestal style legs.. as from previous experience I found it really hard to fit 8 or more adults in a steamboat session. AIR was still having their CNY promo when we went there.. the table was 30% off! so we decided to grab it and put down the delivery date for early Aug (yes, u are reading this right! AUGUST). however, after spending a *bomb* on this, i no longer have budget for my beautiful Hans Wegner's elbow chair replicas from Lorgan's. *sobx*
  23. very daring colour i must say! the mirror abit too "small" LOL! wont u want a longer length to see more?
