ERP helps more S'poreans to own cars: Minister Mon, Oct 22, 2007 The Straits Times Top of Form Bottom of Form ERP helps more S'poreans to own cars: Minister THE use of Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) has made it possible for more Singaporeans to own cars. Responding to a question for written reply in Parliament on Monday, Transport Minister Raymond Lim said this is reflected in the growth of Singapore's car population from 680,000 in 1997 to 800,000 in 2006. Dr Fatimah Lateef, MP for Marine Parade GRC, had asked the Minister if the ERP scheme has met the objectives that it was meant to achieve and if it has improved the traffic flow on expressways especially during peak hours. In his reply, Mr Lim said since its implementation in 1998, ERP has been effective in maintaining average travel speeds on priced roads within the optimal speed range through regular reviews and rate adjustments. For example, average speeds on the expressways have remained at above 45km/h during peak hours. "The use of ERP to manage traffic has made it possible for more Singaporeans to own cars than we otherwise could, and our vehicle population has grown from 680,000 in 1997 to 800,000 in 2006," he added. "It has also allowed the Government to rely more on car usage charges and less on car ownership taxes to manage traffic demand, and as a result, vehicle ownership taxes have been reduced. " The Ministers said the government will continue with a holistic and integrated approach using all the tools available to keep the roads smooth-flowing. These include building more roads, regulating vehicle growth, implementing traffic engineering solutions, managing traffic demand through ERP and promoting the use of public transport. http://motoring.asiaone.com/Motoring/News/...1022-31536.html

ok..noted. i shall go to AMK to get the license but 1st let me clear the ATT 1st anyone has got a good and patience manual driving instructor to recommend
-
yah lor... now is only the ATT test date already have to wait so long wonder the practical test got to wait how long me still thinking to learn at ubi or AMK ...i know ubi is diff to pass cos i failed once there but that is one place that let one experience the harsh road condition leh if can pass there anywhere also no problem handling
-
put it on auction and see how much it fetch lor
-
btw air if you are going to be a private candidate you might have problem a nearer theory test date only school candidate can get the date faster. for me, i went to register for the ATT in august 07 and the earliest date i can get is NOV !!!! !!
-
you can do it concurrently but you cant get a practical test date until you pass ATT so some pple prefer to clear all theory get the test date then start learning !!
-
!! poor instructor and his new car that's what i tot too... manual consumption is known to be better one but if ended up in the wrong hand that is diff story
-
then time to buy new games liao mah
-
why i thought manual car 's FC is lesser than auto
-
you chose a hard to pass place to take the test... eunos area is full of traffic one leh...... and like you... i too knocked down the pole during parking but mine is vertical parking but the good thing abt the tester is he still let me go out for experience at the end of the session he said if i din knock down the pole i would have passed one cos all others i'm ok after 1 failed, i stopped taking lesson but now going back to take it again
-
look abit too big for the 2 of u to finish it right
-
i think i will make a dangerous driver when i do get a license basically i just like stuff that is adventurous and exciting i remembered when we went for test driving, the sales person demo how good the car is in handling sharp cornering... woah...that was SHIOK yeah but flying off in safety lah if the car cannot handle this kind of speed then dun play play lah
-
but it will be very shiok leh
-
160km/ hr and still nia dun worry...i believe your hb can handle the STI well
-
so how ? does that stuff you bought work ???
