  1. Super like your kitchen!!! Esp the wooden shelving underneath the hob. So old school! I am eyeing the same dining lamp as well! First saw it in mabaricowWei2's place and now yours! Where did u get it from? Cuz I only saw the white and not the black version.
  2. You kinda answered what I wanna ask. There is a cover/seal somewhere close to the top of the door that holds the glass in place in another model I saw. That can be removed so that the glass can be cleaned. So I wanted to know if there is this feature in this model, which you have answered! Thank you!
  3. Hello! I realised you have many black tiles. What tiles are you using for the kitchen?? How is the first day of hacking? Have you gone down to take a look yet?? I have not gone to mine yet as I ended work late, but planning to do so tmr!
  4. Sorry to hear that. How much were you told to top up???
  5. We got the TV at the Gain City Expo Sale - $1249. The TV decision was made by my hubby, so I can't answer you much about why we got it. But all I know was that we were deciding between a Samsung and LG, because of the Smart TV feature. Hubby likes the apps function of the Samsung. You may want to pose the same qn to my hubby about the TV on my t-blog and he may be able to answer you there (he doesn't venture out of the t-blog thread much).
  6. I think the technology for TV is changing too quickly for "regular" homeowners to actually grasp a good knowledge of it. Once you buy your TV, you stop your research for a while, and then after that, when the time comes to buy the next TV, technology has improved by heaps and bounds and what you know is no longer valid. But anyway, just to share, this is what we bought over the weekend. http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=39424&view=findpost&p=650876
  7. NICE! I really like the look of this area. I wish I have a wooden top dining table, but hubby says it will get scratched easily.
  8. mabaricows, wanted to ask you something about the oven, as I have not seen it in person yet... how many layers of glass is there for the door, and can the top of the door be removed to clean the glass?? Not sure if you understand what I mean....
  9. Wah, my officer super on the ball then. I got married on a Saturday, then the following Monday, HDB wrote to me to produce marriage cert. I deferred producing cert for 4 months, showed the officer my banquet booking, which was sufficient proof.
  10. The attraction of this place is the tranquility and the greenery all around. If you need to be close to amenities, then this is not for you, because frankly, supermarkets/provision shops are very limited. There is a clinic, a few bakeries, some mid-range eateries, that's about it. I also think it is a bit far to walk to Clementi Ave 4 just for all these. If your kid's school is in Fairfield, have you considered Clementi West? or Dover? And if you are willing to pay the price for an EM at Sunset Way, how about the 5-rooms at Ghim Moh? Alternatively, do consider Clementi Ave 6? Not that far from Fairfield, imo, and quite exclusive area, walkable to MRT.
  11. veronehoo, what is the model of your oven? Do you know how much it cost on its own? I am getting Rinnai hob/hood, but prefer the Electrolux/Bosch oven... Did you compare Kong Tai's prices with the rest of the cheaper electronic shops (Hong Liang, Everjoint, GAB, BKC etc)??? My mum is a long time buyer at Kong Tai too... always got her items there.
  12. But Rimblock had a good review for GC. I think it's the luck of the draw, depend on which installer you get lor. Just hope that both of us get good installers. My installation will be on the 22nd July.
  13. Congrats! I'm also starting reno today! Here's wishing you a smooth and fuss free reno!
  14. Hock Siong - $80 each. 2nd hand, but in very good condition. http://www.hocksiong.com.sg/web/index.php
  15. Oh, why the decision? Was it a bad experience?
  16. Yeah, only need to clean the basket and drawer. Looks quite easy. The top part is the motor, so nothing to clean there.
  17. Had a friend who bought it and fried chicken wings. She said it tastes like how fried chicken wings would taste like. Very crispy. I tried the roti prata cooked in it, also quite crispy and cannot feel the oiliness. :good: But don't think I will buy it, cuz I am not a big fan of fried stuff...
  18. Er, I think it is a bit late to tell you, but you should have gone to the Gain City Sale. Anyway, since you are buying so many items, you can consider going to the smaller shops like GAB, Kong Tai, BCE etc. They would be able to offer you a better disc as compared to the big names. Re Comex - I was at the IT show in June, and I saw Harvey Norman actually offering free delivery and installation, iirc. But depends on the retailer lah.
  19. I really think it depends on timing and when as well? Like yesterday I went to Gain City Expo Sales, for the items that I am interested in, I actually called up K*** T** to check prices. Turned out the Gain City Expo Sale was actually cheaper. For me the good thing about shopping at the bigger boys is that they accept cards (can collect credit card points) and when they have Expo Sales, I think the prices are quite competitive. However, give me the actual savings anyday. I rather pay for a lower price, then the freebies or the 12 month installment.
  20. We've been looking for a fridge for a while. My criteria is very simple, just one actually. It needs to be bottom freezer (so that the veg compartment is at my waist level thereabouts; hubby and I are rabbits). In terms of fridge size, we're looking for something that is between 370 - 420L thereabouts. Don't need too big, as it's only the two of us, and we live pretty close to a wet market and an NTUC so there is no need for us to stock up on groceries or food. Currently we have cut down our shortlist to the following 2 brands - Panasonic and Fisher and Paykel. Panasonic - NR-C376MX-S6 Inverter Compressor Adjusts the rotation speed to circumstances with different rotation speeds Energy Saving, Quick Freezing, Low Noise Operation Hygienic Auto Ice Maker Washable Ice Making Tray and Washable Water Supply Pipe Enables removal of parts and thorough washing Quick freezing with -40C cool air blow to keep food fresh and tasty Reduces drip and less frost formation on meat and fish Fisher and Paykel - E402BRE Active Smart™ system Frost Free Humidity Control System Full Extension Runners Why these 2 models was because they are made in their home countries (Japan and New Zealand, respectively) rather than in Thailand, Malaysia etc which is the case for established brands like Mitsubishi etc. Hubby is quite interested in the inverter compressor for Panasonic which he thought is quite impt since the fridge is going to be used 24/7. Anyone have used any of the above two and have any comments? Other brands that I should look at (must be bottom freezer)???
  21. Today we went to Bencoolen Street to check out (ie. window shop) at Space Furniture. Of course, 80% of the stuff was out of our budget, but I fell in love with this lamp - Flos 265. It's adjustable at both the tip of the triangle and the wall bracket. The lamp itself is actually 2m long. It's about $1400+ after disc which of course is out of our budget. Have not seen any of the local shops try to do an imitation of this yet though. (If you do, let me know where you have seen it). Space is also having a sale for some of its iconic items. The Acro floor lamp is going at $2,300, while the Panton Chair is going at $260 thereabouts. Both are going at half price.
  22. Oops. Thanks for the correction! Actually if you have not corrected me, I wouldn't have realised that it is without the "r". Yeah, nothing is really on display, so you need to know what you want. Go window shop elsewhere and buy here. Btw, do they accept cards? Or is it only cash/nets/cheque only?
  23. Actually not sure if same model now that you mention chrome plate swing door, cuz I kinda recall mine is white swing door. Oh well. Same brand. Hahaha. Got it for $599. Re the acid wash, can you ask the ID to compensate since he damaged your items?
  24. Shumin, were you at the Gain City Sale too? I read somewhere else that you also bought aircon and now the LG washing machine. I was recommended to purchase from Gain City by my ID. He said they are quite reliable, considering how large their company is.
  25. I wish I live in the east, then I wouldn't have to spend half hour travelling across the island everytime there is an Expo Sale. Anyway, went to check out aircons at IMM on Monday. Salesman was very nice to tell us that there is an expo sale on Saturday, so here we are. And we ended up with the following items. Sharp System 3 Inverter - Air Con looks pretty okay. I like the air purifying feature. Samsung UA40D5500RM 40". Hubby likes the apps feature, and it's so freaking thin! LG Direct Drive Front Load Washer - WD1070. Hubby likes the direct drive feature, though I was eyeing the Electrolux at first.
