  1. You need to be around to inspect the condition of the replacement door and of the other surfaces/doors before they install. Take pictures as evidence. If installed and you notice something new, then I think you have every right to request for a replacement.
  2. Genova is overpriced! Genova quoted $580 for the Arino Caprio, but I got it for $380 at Royal Fanco.
  3. And I think we have the same LG washing machine and Samsung TV as well.
  4. A lot of hacking in your place! I was just looking at the recent t-blogs and so many of them are hacking away walls to make a bigger MBR, with WIW. Both older and new homes. Maybe HDB should actually drop by here for some research and hopefully they'll realise that ppl actually like bigger rooms and bigger units and build what we actually want, not what they think we want.
  5. PJ = Poh Joo HK = Hoe Kee SSC = Sim Siang Choon
  6. It's normal lah. I met about a dozen, only half got back. The rest can't be bothered. If they can't be bothered, I also dun wanna bother with them.
  7. If you have already bought your crockery, cutlery, and utensils, then it is best to check if they are dishwasher safe first... No point getting a dishwasher, if your dishes cannot be washed with a dishwasher.
  8. Just got back last week. You can check out my blog for more updates. The Thais sure feel otherwise. Ikea is finally opening in Thailand, and they can't wait!
  9. Your designer has not gotten his/her facts right. Grohe does not have a factory in China. Grohe has a Made in Thailand (The Bau range), Assembled in Thailand (The Euro range) and a Made in Germany (everything else) range. The Thailand-made range is obviously cheaper. Hansgrohe has a China factory, hence they have a Made in China and Made in Germany range. Kohler as well has a China factory.
  10. That's what I heard as well. If you go with your ID, he usually will earn some commission, but my ID is a busy man... I too kancheong, don't wanna wait for him... I got higher range for taps because it's something we use and touch, turn on and off all the time, the mechanism inside the tap must be good and can withstand the heavy usage lah, that's why I rather pay more. Same with my kitchen mixer. For sinks and WCs, I don't see the difference between expensive and cheap.. as long as you take care, don't drop heavy things on it, I think it will last as long, so I look and price and design lor. For WCs, Arino designs are actually quite nice, that's why I got that for my MBR. As long as you are comfortable when you sit on it.
  11. We didn't manage to take a actual picture of this, since it was used as what it is. But this is available for purchase too... It's huge, btw.
  12. The companies usually have a shipping company that they work closely with, if they do ship to Singapore. You can ask them to quote you a price, including shipping first. This way, you really know the full cost of buying the furniture in BKK and whether it is worth it to ship back. Remember that since you are buying high value items (more than SGD400), you will also be taxed 7% GST on the value of the goods (including the cost, insurance and freight (CIF) plus other chargeable costs and the duty payable (if applicable)) by Singapore Customs.
  13. If I can "Like" a comment, this would be it. Maybe RT can introduce a "like" function to each post.
  14. Did more shopping today. Went down to Kong Tai and confirmed several items with them... Hitachi R-S37SVS-ST Bottom Freezer Fridge Bosch HBA23B550J - was originally going for the Brandt 811 series, but this was on offer for just slightly more than the Brandt, so might as well. Made in Germany Rinnai RB-3Si, originally wanted the Ceran Glass 2CG series, but was advised not to, as we are going to install our oven under the hob... Turbo T6001 cooker hood - one of the slimmest in the market at 105mm or something like that. KDK M11SU for the MBR KDK V56VK for the living room.
  15. Thank you! Endorsement from the pioneer of the Scandi/Mid-Century home on the t-blogs! *Gushes* Glad you guys enjoyed the pictures! It was a tiring trip, doing all the walking and shopping, but satisfying, nonetheless.
  16. Your ID is Fuse Concepts? They were one of our shortlisted ones as well. All the best for your reno... 8/8 - Huat ah!
  17. Other than the shopping for fittings, the other highlight of the trip was this... BKK Street Food. My favourite. Nom Nom Nom.
  18. More pictures of Khun Satit's personal collection, which also include some original designer pieces such as the Ant Chair. He knows of the local retro shops like A Thousand Tales and Logans and shared his opinions of these shops with us, giving us an insider's view to some of these retro furnishing companies. It was an enjoyable afternoon and certainly worth the rush to his shop straight after our flight.
  19. Can you travel in the weekend of 19-21 August? Rottenramone will be there and you guys can have a man date buying fittings in Bangkok.
  20. I like the 3D renderings of the living room! Think there is also 1 more homeowner here who engaged 9 Lives. One of the scandi/mid century homes. Andy is my friend's hubby. Nice guy to talk to.
  21. The store jingle is particularly addictive. I couldn't stop singing it.
  22. The GC guys are currently in my place doing the trunking. Together with the ID, we met up with the GC guys this morning to discuss and agree on the trunking before they got down to work. Hence if there were any issues, the ID and/or us would have brought up before they got down to work. The GC guys also warned us that if we need to rerun for any reason, it will be a substantial charge. Were you or your ID there when the air con guys went down to your place to do the trunking?
  23. Yup yup, your reno is progressing well! Much faster than mine. Looking good!
