Hello Luckycoin and all, That's what I thought too and that is why I chose an ID. But my ID expects us to QC everything also and also, want us to take to the various personnel such as carpenter etc directly. So I think I am paying money to ID need to do some of his work, must see his attitude and also, listen to his threatening statement to us of stopping the project. I am still in midst of renovation but what I learnt from this reno experience is, you (house owner) can check blogs, magazines etc and choose the house design that you like. Then, talk to either ID or contractor to see whether it is feasible for your need. For a nice home, just ensure your colour scheme is consistent (meaning, for example, you dont choose more than 3 colors for your home). Also, visit condo showrooms to have a look for their decors are always very nice. That will give you inspiration and also, which colour scheme to choose.... Then, the rest is really up to the contractor or the ID that does the job.For no matter how nice the 3D design is, if the contractor/ID is not particular about his work, the final piece wont be good. So I feel overall, you can choose either ID or contractor but the person must have these traits - initiative, is hungry for the job and also, has pride is his works. Just my 2 cents

Hi Navik, thanks for your reply. I understand the point on the balancing tool but I just cannot understand does this mean we have to see the 'slated window' grilles forever? I think your contractor is great as he plaster the door/wall to level all....mine told me if I want to make it 'straight', we need to pay more money to fix it. What I don't understand is: a) If the wall is not straight, why can't they put cement at the base before they installed the grilles so that it looks straight? But of course, the balancing tool won't be balanced anymore but then, I won't see the gap on top too. b) In addition, this is the measurements we took. Hence, I am really not convinced that we must base the straightness on the balancing tool... But it seems we have to accept it for we are at the ID mercy now as he can even utter the word to stop all works (though we have made 95% payment).

Hi, We met up with ID today to talk on a couple of works which were unsatisfactory. During our discussion today when we commented about the overall project that includes very lousy painting job and I told him straight that I no longer have confidence in their work, he said we can stop all work and end the project. I am flabbergasted. We are at his mercy for 95% of payment had been paid!!! For now, we are not convinced by his answers on the straightness of the window grilles...We said it is not straight (based on measuring tapes). He said it is straight (based on this 'balancing tool' that he used. 拉水平线. May I know which should I base it on? Measuring tape or the 'balance' tool. Even if I should based the straightness on the 'balance' tool, how can I rectify the slated look? Grilles in bedroom A close up of another grilles (in living room) If I heed his info, I see a slanted window grilles daily. But I have no info to dispute what he says for I lack technical knowledge. Hence, appreciate the advice from the experts for relationship is strained now with the ID. Thank you very much.

Symphony, thank you very much for your great help. I told the ID exactly what you said and lets see what he will do on the ABS trimming. Prior to the info from you, he has agreed to rectify the cabinet's doors. Hopefully, they can do a good job with the lamination and the ABS trimming. Thanks once again

Hi Symphony, sorry, I don't understand. Can you elaborate further? I tried looking for ABS trimming pictures online but to no avail. I met up with the ID and he said yes, that is ABS trimming but to me, this ABS trimming is so different from the ABS trimming I had in my 1st home. But I do not know how to point out clearly why I don't think what he gave me isn't ABS trimming. Nor do I want to insist I am right when I could be wrong. Headache! For the cabinets' door, ID told me he would rectify it. I don't know how he will rectify but have emphasized strongly that I don't want to see 'white paste' at the edge which is what I am seeing now.

Hi, We started our renovation project in end Mar and are still in the midst of renovation. Once all is done, we will do a T-blog. In the meantime, can u advice us what is ABS trimming? In addition, kitchen cabinet's workmanship is poor. Can you advice how should we should ask ID to rectify? As in, they need to change the laminate(?), to just use 'white paste' and seal the gap (is this permanent??) or how should they rectify??? Thank you very much.
