it depends on a lot of factors. but generally custom making will cost more because it is made to measure. think tailoring compared to buying a shirt off the shelves from Isetan. of course, if you get some scandinavian pinewood wardrobe, then it might cost more than custom making a similar sized with solid plywood with laminate...

i beg to differ bro... i custom build cos i want my space to be maximised.. quality wise, it depends on where you buy it from..and of course how good is the workmanship of the carpenter who custom-built the furniture. the shelf in my wardrobe in my parent's home broke after 1 day..and nothing was placed on it! this is whats its supposed to be.. mine was like this after 1 day... the plug was supporting nothing but the weight of the shelf itself only!

sorry to hear about your experience... am appalled by the level of customer service shown by gain city. the bigger the company, the harder it is for them to have their own group of workers/installers.. so what they do? they sub-con the installation to other smaller companies! if i were you, i will definitely write in to ST and enlighten the general public.

from what i understand..pardon me if im wrong a) Leather sofa - means OUTSIDE is leather skin ? correct. b) What does the INSIDE of the sofa contains ? foam or sponge with a wooden frame to give the sofa its shape C) Of the leather skin itself, what type of ANIMALS are suitable for leather skin ? What are the common Animal skin used for leather ? cow, sheeps, pig(not used for sofas because its too small) d) Does any country specialize in the leather skin ? i know italy & brazil e) Does the leather skin itself contains GRADES ? sure it has. f) I always hear leather skin - crocodile, etc. Does crocodile skin makes sofa isnt a croc skin sofa too spiky to sit on? seen a croc? would you want to sit on its back?

dude...nearly every decent furniture shop has leather sofas! novena...defu...sea horse...courts....harvey norman! you want more chic stuff..can go try furniture mall@beach rd or park mall... or there is something more specific that you are looking for?

i saw this shop selling roller blinds at new world centre on the 1st floor... their mechanism feels great and they have a wide variety of fabrics to choose from..think their website is blinds gallery..try googling for it!

agree dude...if the price is right..i dont mind going for lower priced items. i dont believe 10 ikea tables cannot outlast 1 of the Sense table.... whats more..if i get sick of the design or the colour..i can change! but this doesn't apply to things which are hard to change lah, eg toilet bowls, sinks...these items..buy good quality 1...

ID managed to settle it in the end...told him i cannot afford to cock this up because someone will be here to install the poles for my pole system wardrobe..if he doesnt paint it today...he will have problems painting it with all the poles, shelves and hanger bars inside.. phew! and i breathed a sigh of relief...

my haunch was correct..he didnt manage to complete it! argh! he is **** lucky that i am not in sgp..or else i will call & scream at him already! anyway my wife called him..ask him why like that... i think he called the workers to go back & paint it now.........

when my wife went over last evening....nothing was done! the boards are still at their original position! asked my wife to msg the ID immediately asked why nothing done? he told us tomorrow. which means that he has to finish the false ceiling & 1 coat of paint today! sounds a tall order to me...but who knows? maybe his contractor really that good? i will know the result tonight...

i hope you have checked double confirmed the time frame they allow you to take delivery... some companies i know will insist that you take delivery latest 2 months after ordering... you order so early...im afraid you will have to take delivery of your items before your reno is complete.. just my 2 cents.
