  1. yeah definitely i will have to rest on the floor...but the back support of the bench leaning against the household shelter wall...should be ok right?
  2. hi peeps..wonder if anyone here constructed something on the walls of the household shelter. i was looking at doing a enclosed dining area whereby 1 of the wall mounted bench will be against 1 of the walls of the household shelter. are there any rule regarding this? sorry for the lousy pic...and thanks to the bro whom i borrowed that photo from.
  3. love the noose man.... dont know if they still have "we are singaporean"because i havent watched an episode for the current series...and it says that i cant watch the video from my current location! ****... will catch up on it when im back for sure!
  4. i think the wooden flooring poses the biggest problem...u going to relay the floor for the whole house? how & where are you going to move your furniture to? my parents renovated the flat when we were still staying there..its a masionette.. 1. kitchen knocked and rebuilt everything 2. the toilet in the kitchen was hacked and rebuilt 3. the 2 toilets upstairs were hacked & rebuilt 4. minor renovation to 1 of the room they did it in stages so we could still stay there, but it was a mess.. we survived though...so its up to you..whether you can live with the mess and come to a solution with the contractor..
  5. 4 months fair? will any decent fair be on for 4 months?! i guess its just another 1 of those expo ripoff events. i'll pass. thanks.
  6. according to ugene512, its about $50 per sqft.
  7. hi...anyone managed to get the carpenter's contact? i want to do something similar for storage! pls pm or email at kelvintankh@gmail. appreciate it! thanks in advance!
  8. hi there...there are some things i see in your house which i want in my own too.. care to email me the quotation for your reno as well as the contact of the ID? kelvintankh@gmail.com how is the workmanship so far? you shld have been using it for roughly 6 months now..any defects? wanted to PM you but your inbox is full..
  9. there used to be a **** good 1 at changi village...mei fang wantan mee..used to eat it everyday for breakfast... but dont know still open or not..cos the husband & wife team quite elderly already..
  10. the ID is to consult in regards to space planning..cos the flats now are miserably small the places you mentioned is for the bedframes? thanks again for the info...will do so when im back from my working trip
  11. i went to my cousin's house, felt her bed and its still firm & hard as i like it! she told me she has been using it for 8 years already? i think for the amount you pay for seahorse (which is 1/2 of what branded mattress will cost)..and it being able to last 8 years or more...its pretty good value for money!
  12. noted. im quite a big guy so...yeah it has got to be solid... thanks for the heads up..i guess i will have to go to an ID for consultation on its feasibility.
  13. i believe it can be done...the doors and side ain't that hard actually... besides a pedestal, maybe we can use those "bricks" like old days? 1 at each corner? just that nowadays, the "bricks" are made of plastic..
  14. ahhh..the important "side ventilation"! yes then i think that should be fine... actually i dont know what they mean by dry kitchen also....sounds so wrong!
  15. i remember reading from somewhere that you must always leave a gap between the fridge and the wall to allow air to cool.. if i follow that theory..i think it will be good to allow air to circulate behind the fridge for better cooling.. yeah..the pedestal stand is really up to individual preference.. my up coming house's kitchen is too **** small..i might not even have space to put the fridge inside the kitchen! so its not possible for me to hose wash the area just outside my kitchen...
  16. i wouldnt do a base for my fridge too..find it restrictive on the size of the fridge i might have to buy in the future.. similarly, i also wouldnt do a kitchen cabinets to frame up my fridge...for the same reason also, and it restricts air flow which the fridge needs to cool itself.. when the compressor needs to work harder, it consumes more energy..and your compressor spoils faster...
  17. thanks for the details of your renovation! im sure i have learnt a few things from reading your mini blog... preparing for my own renovation..collecting by keys to my sengkang 4rm in june i hope! good to see a few similar layout houses..get a lot of ideas from it. thanks once again!
  18. i reckon that if i am able to do it..it wont cost much more than a good solid wood bed frame.. im ok with not being able to shift my bed yeah..thats my concern..the weight of it... im not going for the concrete look..i really want something sturdy below my bed
  19. just checking what materials are commonly used in making built in wardrobe.. i have a bad experience with my current(my parents house) built in wardrobe..less than 1 month..the peg which a board sits on broke...you know the kind where they have a short metal pin...plug into the holes which are on the wardrobe sides? upon closer inspection, i found out that the wood is actually those kind of compressed wood chips..**** soft and useless! which kind of wood board is stronger?
  20. generally...your annual income is the value of the car you should buy... if your annual income is $50K..then buy a $50K car lor.. but that is just a very general guide...ultimately..there are lots of other factors to consider, eg liabilities, spending pattern, lifestyle, income constant or not, job stable or not etc etc... do your sums properly..and dont over-estimate yourself. the machine price of the car is usually only 1/2 of what you need to pay every month to keep the car going...good luck..
  21. i fully agree... its a bit of stereotyping...but we hear a lot of horror stories from others already...dont wanna be a victim myself.. we cant live long enough to make all the mistakes ourselves..so learn from the mistakes from others
  22. maybe you can ask yoour friend to try lacquer the thing or something? the tatami shop also does something like that? maybe i shall go and have a look 1 day.. that designtray dont seem to be keen to do business...email them..no reply..call them...no pick up...sigh...
  23. would appreciate if someone can email me the list as well...kelvintankh@gmail.com i somehow believe it it too...but at the same time..im a practical man..would like to consult a master for my house coming soon... thanks in advance!
  24. hi guys...just wanna check if its possible/feasible/legal to use concrete instead of buying a bed frame all i want is a raised platform to put my mattress on..like what you see in hotels, but instead of the lower piece, i wanna use concrete. will there be any issues with the weight? sorry if my question sounds stupid...but looking at how lousy bed frames now..i rather go for something sturdy..
