  1. same here...wonder which stupid architect design it like that...kitchen so small already still make the door inside the kitchen...kao... the passageway to the bedrooms virtually useless..should have opened it there wat...
  2. wow..quite a lot of hacking and flooring to be done i see... i guess the flooring will pretty much be depended on what kind of tiles you want..no experience in that..so sorry i cant comment.. L shaped light? L-box or light box you mean? actually doing light box not really that expensive...and its very versatile in letting you place lights where you want it to be... my feng shui master is quite ok...very responsive to my queries and questions even after collecting money...but as to how effective his advice is...i can only tell you 10 yrs later..haha.. if you interested can drop me a PM...
  3. new flat? standard or BTO? already come with flooring? resale flat? empty? touch up needed only or need to dismantle/hack? maybe its easier if you tell us what you expect to be done... the floor area is not a good indication of what needs to be done unless you need to do flooring...i know of people who spent $60K doing a 80+ sqm flat and another who spent $16K doing a 120sqm flat.. the definition of full renovation means different things to different people too..
  4. anyone seen a tea pot with a cradle which allows me to put a candle below to keep the teapot warm? exactly like the one they use at MOF at marina square? find it a very good idea... where i can buy such a tea set?

thanks! i will go take a look when im back... anyone with anymore ideas?
  6. each has its pros & cons lah... smaller shops are usually run by the boss and/or family members...because its their own business and their attitude will directly affect the income of their dad/brother/uncle/themselves..they tend to be friendlier and more helpful...not to mention the lower rent & overheads... some of these shops dont even have credit card machines because it will only add to their cost...and most do not allow credit card installments because it will cost them 2.75-3.5% levy on the price. big boys..big shops...hefty rentals because their shop is usually in shopping centres...they need to hire admin staff..finance staff...warehouse staff....HR staff..these people are support..and their salaries have to be paid because they do not generate sales...equating to higher profit margins... however..having high turnover also means they they usually get a better price from the manufacturers and agents..and the ability to keep stock for popular models...
  7. certain brand of fans have light kits which allows you to put 4 tornado bulbs leh...still not bright enough?
  8. as you already mentioned the pros & cons...which is more important to you? ease of maintenance? or asthetics? i got a water pump to help reduce the chances of my water discharge pipe being clogged..the pump will help to give pressure needed to clear the water discharge from the aircon... some parts of my air con piping is concealed by false ceiling..
  9. i feel that the good thing about downlights is that with a false ceiling, you can put the light wherever you want to...compared to normal ceiling lights which is usually fixed at 1 position... i used downlights for my living room and master bedroom because i want to control the lightings there....the rest...normal ceiling lights will do
  10. piracy? now blu-ray very hard to pirate liao... i think you mean privacy lah...
  11. all the more must maximise space mah...im also not hacking any walls... if you dont have floor space..you use vertical space!
  12. hi guys..anyone with experiences with urban design? they are offering me a very good price for my reno but im not too sure about their workmanship. any comments and experiences will be very much welcomed.
  13. no no of course not.i think it will only control the same cluster of lights, eg lights tapped from the same power source. yeah it exactly the same, just different brand printed...guess its outsourced manufacturing..haha...
  14. Wow..thanks for the many replies..but im actually back in sgp..haha.. Anyway i only bought 1 set to control the lights in my living room because of the number of lights.. The rest of the rooms no need cos only got 1 ceiling light!
  15. thanks! that was very useful info. think i can go buy somemore since its rather cheap here...

  18. easier said than done bro/sis... how we know whether they have done this before? if you ask them...they surely will say "yeah..do before lah!" i think the material is of utmost importance here.. all the people i asked all say solid plywood can lah! when i told them i wanted solid wood..they tell me "never do that before leh..." and start to try convince me that solid plywood can... didnt want to waste anymore time trying to find someone who was able to do it with solid wood....so i just went with systemind..confirm they are the masters!
  19. my wife(im overseas) just paid the deposit when they came over to take measurements! yuhoo..dream bedroom on the way!
  20. hi guys...im overseas now and i saw those remote control for the lights, where you can use it to activate your lights for example... button A on the remote will activate lights 1 & 2... button B will activate lights 3 & 4... button C will activate lights 5 & 6... the problem is...i dont know how much is it selling in sgp...any kind souls can help me? just need a rough market price.. how about dimmers? how much are those?
  21. thanks dude... but will they custom make for you?
