  1. The other thread mentioned species is same company as Furniture Club. Is this true? if so, might as well buy from species, the price much cheaper!
  2. Which outlet did you buy your furniture from? Heard the IMM outlet got biggest discounts but lousiest service..
  3. Supersimmon - the bro that started this thread, has got a cool round coffee table. Wonder where he got that from?
  4. Honestly, those China manufactured WMF products may not last as long as those made from Germany, but suppose the German made cost twice as much. By buying the China ones, you get the option of throwing away your 5 year old ware and buying a new set and still cost less then the German made. Moreover in 5 years time, you may have newer design and a brand new set altogether. But I am sure WMF will still have strict QC standards to protect their brand image.
  5. Only Black available? I saw the pix of some of the forumers here, they have other colours. Maybe you should recheck other outlets.
  6. I have been using WMF kitchen ware for quite a few years now. I usually buy them at Taka when there is a special promo, so I'm sure they are made in China stuff. Honestly, I find their quality very good and reliable. It does not tarnish so easily. Of course, it is also how you maintain it, so it can last a long time.
  7. I had bought my entire house load of lights from Sammi, and found her to be very helpful and friendly. I had couple of bulbs that did not work as well, but they replaced me. I guess its a matter of being 'nicer' when you ask them for help. Nobody will react well to threats and harsh tones. I mean what do you expect them to say when you suggest going to CASE and ST forums? I don't think they will 'kow tow' and apologise to you right?
  8. If I am not wrong Species is linked to Furniture Club or FC... They used to operate out of expo's. I understand they buy their stuff from several sources in China. Problem with retailers like them is they usually have hard time consolidating a 40 foot contatiner. They cannot ship out until the container is full. So their lead time is very unpredictable. If there are defects, you also need to wait a very long time before they can fix it - since it is not wise of them to ship back the defective pc to China! They have very nice stuff on display, only question is - will the quality be as good? If you want to buy furniture, check out those that are members of SFIC (Singapore Furniture Industries Council). Some Examples, HTL, Koda, Scanteak, Eurosa, Sitra Holdings, Cellini, Lorenzo etc.. they are much safer bet!
  9. Hi SamTheMan, your explanation on leather is very good. I am in the commercial design industry, but mainly cater for hotels. I am quite certain that the two company Lorenzo and Cellini, you mentioned are indeed using Pigmented Leather. This type of leather although is of slightly lower quality than full-grain cowhide leather, but it is definitely more easy to maintain and more resistant to staining and UV. For hotels we prefer this type of Pigmented Grain PU coated leather than say, anilene leather, because of easy maintenance. The reason why Lorenzo and Cellini is more reasonably priced than say, Furniture Club, is becuase the Lorenzo and Cellini are established manufacturers, whereas Furniture Club is a retailer that Buys sofa from Shenzhen or other Chinese manufacturers, hence the markup is much higher. To be honest, I have had dealings with both Lorenzo and Cellini before, in some of my hotel projects, and have found their workmanship to be very reliable. I have since stopped taking from Chinese Furniture manufacturers as I found their quality inconsistent, and I have to 'pray' very hard that my client accepts their quality (which is often very different from the mock-up or sample!). If you want to buy Leather sofas, go for HTL, Lorenzo or Cellini - its definitely more reasonably priced. Having Said that, most of my clients from six star hotels prefer fabric to Leather for their suites. the fabric they choose are usually between S$100-$150 per m, as compared with typical furniture retailers that uses S$10-20 pm fabrics. As the content of the fabric is different, the high-end fabrics are very comfy indeed.

Well, actually the $2998 package is offering a Latex mattress, whereas the $1998 is only pocketed springs mattress. I did not get their package, but have been using their latex mattress for sometime. IMHO i think the latex mattress is a good buy.. I would have gotten their package, had they been offering it early this year.
  11. By the way, CASE has something like that for those unscrupulous electronics shops at sim lim and lucky plaze right? Do they have something like that for furniture shops?
  12. Honestly, I have been told alot of stories about dishonest furniture shops actually using only half leather, or split leather, while only the seat is leather and selling it as'full leather'. I think you can immediately tell if it is fake or not by the prices eg.Those who sell 3 +2 seater full leather sofas below $2K.. Go for more reputable brands.. and judging from all the past posts on this forums, try to avoid unknown brands at furniture fairs and exhibitions.
  13. The $998 price is very attactive, however, I went down to check and it is limited to certain colours only. The sales person says these are export models, hence, the sofas are already pre-upholstered. However, if you don't mind the standard colours, then the it is of great value. Instead I bought the systhetic rattan dining table with 4 chairs for only $998 -this one is even better value than the sofa. You gotta check it out!
  14. I never really take note of the model name, but its definitely not the high end range. If I am not wrong its the one with the package. To be honest, I am a very light sleeper. I have been using it for about a year now. I rarely get disturbance from my wife when she gets up to go to the toilet. Its defintely better than alot of mattresses they use for 5 star hotels. I am even hoping they willl still be selling this model after 10 years, so I can get it again as I am very fussy about the particular feel. Having said that, I am not used to their latex pillow. I am back to my goosedown/feather pillow. But the mattress is wonderful, if not perfect!
  15. This sounds more like a scam than anything else! Unscrupulous way of doing business! You should file a complaint with Small Claims Tribunal to get back your deposit.
  16. When you are getting your keys? Pinnacle Duxton has 1800 units- that's alot.. I remember when Citisquare which has round 900 units TOP, everyone was rushing to rent out at the same time. So basically, you have to make your unit stand out - the basic amenities like fridge, w/machine would definitely be a draw. If you can find cheap and nice furnishings and maybe throw in a bed and mattress, which is in live-in condition, definitely easier to attract those expats who needs a place fast.. Otherwise your neighbours will be getting the tenants. remember the longer it is vacant, you are losing out on your monthly rental. if your rental is high, don't stinge on furniture and furnishings! cheers
  17. Yup Rheem is pretty good, I have bad experience with Ariston... just my opinion
  18. Honestly, I can swear by the comfort of their mattress. I have tried many expensive mattresses before including some 'S' brand that cost me $4K+. However, for Cellini's Nightingale mattress I think the Latex Mattress With Pocketed Spring (the one they are selling for $998) is the best. Even though they have full latex range and some higher end range, I find it not as comfy. The $998 one is really value for money. Not sure if your package includes this particular mattress.
  19. If you want to install rainshower, you must ensure that your water pressure is high and you have a larger storage water heater. Good ones can last very long without leaking. the cheaper once, you may see the small outlets start to clog one by one..
  20. I know there is a shop selling Hansgrohe stuff at Parkmall basement. Their prices are not cheap, but occasionally they might have some clearance promos which are very good deal. I bought some raindance series shower head and mixer at very good prices some years back. The thing about good quality faucets and bathroom accessories is that they don't tarnish and after a few years. it still look shiny and brand new. The mixer also controls to water temperature much better. You should try it out..

I had very good service from Ramesh. My whole family got from him. The Leather Sofas were very good quality, but surprisingly the prices were pretty competitive! He tried selling us the Latex Mattress, and my sis was a little unsure at first. He did not try hard selling, but my sis was impressed with his patience and decided to buy. After trying out, she love it so much, she bought one for my parents, and insisted I should get one as well. I went to their Furniture Mall outlet.. not sure if he is still there.
  22. Your living room looks very cosy! The pix with the wine glasses just says it all.. By the way, is 'calypso' sofa so popular? this is the first time I heard of a fan club for a sofa! It's really cool...

    Cellini

The Latex Mattress is a good deal. I just bought one for myself, after my sister had been using for a year now. I think you have to tried it for yourself to believe it.
  24. If the leather is fake, you should go to the small claims tribunal website to lodge a report. The process seems faster than going through case.
