Acutally, a good thing would be to state the change of design in your contract. If there are any disagreement, can bring it to Small Claims Tribunal and get your full refund.. Going through CASE may take a much longer time.

I just thought the guys at Funan or Simlim are rather pushy. I not really into Computers, so its easy for them to 'knock' my head

When I refinanced my loan, my new bankers payed the penalty and legal fees for me... Your loan is still quite sizeable, you should try getting quotes form a few banks.

Hi All, Anybody got any comments if buying Notebook computers @Best denki? I know it is cheaper at Funan or Sim Lim, but the service is terrible. Is the price difference very big?

Apparently, Cowhides can be split into a few layers (Thanks to modern day technology!). The top grain is the best and most usable part and is used in high quality sofas. The bottom layers are processed as splits and usually used for products which does not have contact, abrasion or wear and tear. Eg. it can be used for accessories like diaries, cheap bags, shoes etc.. it is very cheap, sometimes cheaper than Vinyl and has very short life span and subject to peeling. Some sofa retailers sell these sofas using splits, and calling it 'Full Italian Cowhide Leather' - which is technically not wrong, since Splits are still considered leather. If buying sofas, try buying from companies that are under Singapore Furniture Industries Council or SFIC or Singapore Mozaic. These companies manufactures and export to overseas buyer and are less probable to cheat since the buyers are experts in sofas as well.

I know of companies who use Split leather and claim it as Full Italian Cowhide Leather..

Honestly, I think their sofas and furniture are way over priced. Just like Furniture Club, they are middlemen who buys from various suppliers in China. They are not manufacturers so their mark up is very high. Servicing and replacement is also difficult, as you can read from other threads in this forum since it is unlikely they will send the defective sofa/furniture back to China or replace you with a new one anytime soon. The actual pieces being different from their showroom sample is also common since they do not manufacture in volume. Their retail presence is also very small and do not have any retail outlets outside Singapore. This means they can take a long while to consolidate a 40 foot container. Hence, you can expect delays in your delivery. Small time retailers without factories(or fixed assets) also pose a higher risks - since they can easily close their limited liability company anytime and does not have any obligations to refund you your deposits.

Hi VeiVei, have you visited Furniture Club? Whats your opnion? Species and FC seem rather similar

Hi Mr Jerry Lee, any response with regards to FC's sofa quality and Lorenzo?

Actually I did my refinancing early last year from UOB to DBS. DBS gave me 3 months SIBOR + 0.7% with no lock-in. Even after 2 years it will still be 3 mth SIBOR +0.7%. Furthermore, they were willling to pay for my Penalty and Legal fees. As Sibor kept going down, my interest rate was cut from 1.5% to 1.3%. This is alot of savings considering I was paying 3.75% previously with UOB.

Actually, it doesn't make much sense to use CPF to prepay - since CPF OA is paying 2.5% while Loan interest rates are from 1.2-1.5%. Maybe if loan interest starts creeping up next year, then you make prepayment or if govt decides to reduce i/r for CPF (which I doubt will happen anytime soon).
-
Honestly, I don't think short term interest rates will rise anytime soon. If the Feds increase the rates too fast too soon, we will regress into another global crisis. Supposing SIBOR goes up to 2% - I think this will have significant adverse impact on our property market, since interest repayments will be higher than rental yields. Hence, it would be very safe to take a loan tied to SIBOR or SOR.

Do try Parkmall 2nd Level. I bought 3 clocks from them - 1 contemporary and 2 classical. They've got a wide range from below S$100 to those few thousand bucks. I am not trying to advertise for them, but do go down and take a look cos they specialises in clocks.

Wow business class seats! Congrats on your great buy! by the way, I happened to chance upon Cellini's new shop at Suntec Mall. They were showcasing some new designs and my wife particluarly like a black and white sofa (not calypso) which is not found on their website. I am not sure of the name of the sofa.. but the staff service was great even though we told them we already bought all our furniture.

Last week, after MAS revalued the SGD, SIBOR dropped below 0.6%... I think SIBOR has a strong correlation to the Fed Rates.
-
Can I just find out what kind of interest rates are you paying? I am currently paying 3 months SIBOR + 0.7% with no lock-in by DBS..

Outdoor Movie Theater And Speakers
B2B replied to lcohol's topic in Landed & Condo Private Properties Renovation Discussion
Honestly, I feel that Bose products are overpriced and outdoor weather-proof system don't sound very good. For my own garden, I used normal speakers encased in water-proof casing. I make sure that rain water don't get in. It lasted me more than 5 years already. -
Hi Mr Jerry Lee from FC Homes, I would like to first point out that I am not a big fan of Lorenzo, your competitor. However, I was browsing for leather sofas with my family one day at one of your FC outlets. Your salesperson started mentioning that Lorenzo uses lousy quality leather and even pointed out that as they are a listed company on SGX, they mass manufacture and hence the quality is not so good. While I have not purchased any furniture from Lorenzo before, I feel that this bombardment of nasty remarks about your competitor puts you very low. Also, made in Malaysia products does not mean they are of inferior quality to FC's China made product. Furthermore, I can see from this forum, that there are probably more complaints about service and quality on your company than Lorenzo has. Maybe you would like to clarify? Cheers! Jen

Does Anyone Know Where I Can Buy Something Similar?
B2B replied to reenie's topic in Home Furnishings
I did see a couple of these similar looking designs at the singapore furniture fair in March. I am not sure if they are selling it though. If you are not in a hurry , you can wait till the next fair and look around for these pretty unusual stuff. I bought some kids furniture for my boy at very cheap wholesale prices. Only thing is I have to do my own delivery. -
Hi! Why don't you call Mr Jerry Lee from FC?
-
That's the problem with companies that does 'customised' sofas. Do you know of any reputable manufacturers of apparels, cars, electronics industry etc.. that does customisation? When these companies are small, or newly start up they can do anything including customisation. The problem starts when they grow in size or start 'swallowing'orders during peak season - that's when the screw ups starts happening.

so far so good, no shrinkage leh.. my boy pee-ed couple of times on it, so no choice gotta wash.

I have another set of sofa (not calypso) from Cellini using microsuede fabric... every month I will machine wash it, but I will turn it inside out first. been doing that for 1 year + so far no discolouration. I need to wash frequently as my baby boy likes to sleep on it.
