  1. you would still need to use mop but make sure its as dry as possble. then it will not last forever lah... after a while, water will still seep in.... so just take it that for laminate, the most can use for 10 years or less.
  2. magic clean is just to clean simple task.. still need mop to clean properly loh.
  3. haahha.... how true!!! i also have the same feeling. pay a bit more is better than using those imitation that doesn't help to do anything at all.
  4. not only sticky feeling, can see the footsteps..... my platform have my footprint when i come out of shower.... so have to use magic clean to wipe it till not footprint stains.
  5. ya loh.... beluga, your nice uniform looks is not nice at all if need to put tyre tube. NeoBY, better just leave it as it is.
  6. headache is getting right contractor then not much headache already..... hehehehe... depends on how fast you can make decision. I am quite fast to make decisions so it was quite ok during reno.
  7. ya lah, but when you cut food, you will bend forward... i always knock into my office pantry top cabinets. so i got so upset that i decided not to install top cabinets. One day i might be like NeoBY and knock down the cabinet if i keep on knocking on it.
  8. geylang i know cos of gangsters lah... but little india? i walked around there sometimes and nothing ever happens.... i wonder whether police dept have statistics for area that are more "dangerous"?
  9. thanks for agreeing with me. To me, its not the money issue, but if i am suppose to cook, then when i cut my food, i don't want to watch over my head... sure one day kena knock few times.
  10. I totally agrees.... laminate and parquet are equally difficult to maintain... my parents' old house have parquet and after a few years, its full of termites. Just because we lives in flat doesn't mean there are no termites. you can check here where there are people having termites issues. As for laminate, the feel is not good at all. nice to see, not nice to step on. You can read some regret that friends78 have on installing laminate. Tiles are cold but at least its durable and you can clean it as much as you like. you will appreciate tiles when you have babies... when they are crawling all over and you can mop with dettol etc. not sure whether laminate can stand strong cleaning liquid.
  11. i think the original looks better...its have more space on top of the area between stove and sink to prepare food. but if its straight down, it would look very cramp where you suppose to prepare your food (ie cutting your food).
  12. Its new HDB so toilet should be done up already. Why don't wait till 5 years later, then only do the toilets nicely like what battle said. You cannot hack the toilet tiles at the moment, only can overlay. so might as well dont do it yet until 5 years later. Then you can hack the tiles, replace to whatever you like. I don't think contractor will install bidet spray & bathroom accessories for free... unless they earn quite a bit from your reno the they might do it FOC. Since you are not doing a lot then their profit is not much, then difficult for them to do it free for you.
  13. then you better make sure that the feature wall will not steal away the colour of the painting but complement it, instead. i also have a painting instead of a tv on my feature wall!!
  14. can own hdb and private at same time... but have to be hdb first, then private 2nd. Cannot private first, then hdb. So, what can be done is sell private and buy hdb. then buy back the private. or the other way, transfer the private to someone else name (ie family member) then buy hdb. I just checked HDB website, still need to fulfill 5 years MOP period before transferring back the private / buy new one.
  15. i just check groupon... really good offer... too bad they don't offer for king mattress.
  16. SErta mattress sound good deal...
  17. If the windows still in good condition then no need to change lah... i didn't change mine too cos the windows really solid aluminium compared to the white powder coated that quite flimsy.... Mine windows initially also looks dark and that is because the previous owner pasted a film over it. after removing the film, everything looks bright now! As for parquet, its not easy to maintain... cannot drag any furniture ard and your mop have to be quite dry... or else it will start to rot and have termites. the costs of parquet also ex, not only wood is ex but the $$$ you need to get people to lay them. if you want lasting, better to get tiles.... confirmed easy to maintain and last a long time.... choose light colour, then even brighter. And tiles should be cheaper than parquet too.
  18. wow! no wonder i also cannot afford to move to punggol
  19. i know lah... it will not be the same but at least some compensation mah... just like if i buy insurance and i pass away, to my family, i cannot be replaced too. but then at least some sum of money for them to settle my funeral etc....
  20. aiyah, they are guys and you are also a guy (hhmm... that sound weird too). Anyway.... their laughing seem contagious so maybe you will be happy looking at it. For my place, my paintings are all in green... green bamboo forest, green tree and green mountain.... hehehehe...
  21. thanks for doing the research... i think msig quite good for you. pays for death of dog and cat leh.... but other things are not as good.... AXA seem to be the best now....
  22. I always go old airport road area. Used to stay there too. And now I always go there cos after playing golf at marina bay driving range will go there to have some food. Definitely nice to be staying ard there!!
  23. I know which one u mean. I went there before but can't even find anything I like. Hehe.... Good that you found something.
  24. Usually old flats better to rewire whole flat. Never know when they did it, which might be 20 years ago. Normal 4 room flats abt 3-3.5k, 5 room abt 3.5-4k and EM abt 4-5k. But also depends on how many lights u have so don't overdo. Sometimes it's bright enough, no need to overdo. My kitchen I overdo by 2 downlight so not too bad. Overall still ok. So always budget in this amt in your Reno, especially old flats above 20 years.
