hi there, happened to see your posting. usually i only go to tblog to chit chat. anyway, for your reno for everything, also have to depends on what you want to use for your flooring, laminated floor is cheaper than tiles. And how big you want your wardrobe to be, same as your kitchen. everything goes by per feet run, so the bigger wardrobe you want or kitchen cabinet you want, then the more reno that you need. as for lightings, depends on whether you will get normal lightings or designer lightings. so to put it simply with the most simple reno: - re-do whole kitchen - normal 10ft bottom and 10ft top with solid surface $3k - 2 bathrooms - $8k with all accessories - all flooring - tiles in living and kitchen, laminate in bedrooms - $8k - all doors - $1.6k - hacking off built in wardrobes & replace with new ones (for 2 rooms) - incl hacking of the wall between MBR and next room = $2.5k - replace all lighting = $1.5k - painting - $1.2k - other maintenance works (wiring etc) - $2k total abt $28k. Please note that i am not professional in house reno, i am just telling you roughly what i would think you would need. might not be accurate but i based on what i did. good thing is, the colours or laminates for all wardrobes and cabinets can be whatever you like. if you buy a better flat, the existing stuff might not be what you like... so its really depending on what you want. even a better unit, you will still need to reno a bit and it might come up to $10-$15k. all the best in choosing your flat!

Does it mean that the store room can be hack from kitchen except that wall between storeroom and living? so 2 side of the store room walls can be hacked, only 1 side cannot? You are not hacking the MBR to the bedroom 2, right? so doesn't affect you?

then how to do touch up? later use wrong colour?

ya ya, i think the painter told me too. if never mix with water, then it will last longer. if already mix with water, then cannot keep for long. the most is just 1 month. Those that left by Andrew's painter was not mixed with water. that is why able to keep for long. my only worry is whether its the cans have been closed properly cos if not, might dry up.

Said that those i intro, he have to make sure everything sui sui or else get complain on RT then no one will intro anymore. So, if you see anything you not happy, just call him and get it settle asap... or else, the longer you wait, it might not be possible to change anymore. aiyoh, so many things add on... over your budget or not?

usually ID will ask plumber to do it cos plumber usually will come with drills to drill holes for all the accessories in the toilet like cloth hanger in toilet, or toilet roll holder and bidet. So use the drill to take out the screws for the cloth hanger in your service yard will be easy job loh. Just tell him that it can be done lah. Rick will do it for you, i believe.

only the living room and certain area only.... not repainting the whole wall... but since its white colour, even spot touch up will be ok?? i will know on friday... hehehe.... there are no extra paint left? i think my store room have few cans of paint for the different colours.... got to dig it out. not me that need the jif lah... i didn't use ceasarstone. hehehe... too ex for me.

thanks albert. the person using ceasarstone too but she haven't come to RT for a long time. so not sure how to tell her to use jif/zip. if she comes in and see this post, then might get the stains remove. or else, nothing much i can do too..... but thanks for your advise.

i won't call it touching up lah. touching up sound like the reno wasnt completed so need touching up. hehehehe... its more like yearly maintenance? hahaha... see next year he will do so again for me or not. hahaha.. sorry leh, you didn't use him for your reno. ask your contractor to do it for you lah.. says its touch up since you just moved in only.

MINOR REPAINTING I just finished having a chat with my contractor. I asked him to come help me repaint some part of my living room and he agrees. YAH! After living here for a year, some of my walls in my living room are not as white as before (i guess that is the problem when choosing light coloured paint). most of it was not my fault but my friends and their kids. And of course some part of it was due to lizards.... As there are something going on end of the month, i thought of asking my contractor to repaint. hopefully will just be easy job and will not see patches of new paint. I will know by weekend since he is asking someone to come over on friday. Best thing, he will do it free for me. hahahaha...

EAch area HDB officer will do things different... so many battle is more "ngiao" officer leh? mine was submitted 1 month before start of reno and it have to drag all the way till 2nd week of reno leh.... and submitted it 3 times. So, sometimes really don't know....

will they compensate you for your lost of fridge etc?
