If there are termites, you will know. You can hear them eating away the wood (kitchen cabinet, wardrobe, platform etc) especially at night. Termites usually comes from ground, but of high floor hdb have it means your neighbors also have this problem. Could be from ground floor slowly eating upwards or else brought in by furniture that have termites. Ply wood won't bring in termites as ply wood have been treated with chemicals. So no eggs will be in the ply wood. Only untreated wood furniture might bring in termites which slowly grow and grow till everywhere also have termites, even inside the walls. What you should do when do house viewing is check kitchen cabinets. If have termites, there will be lots of dirts like wood shaving in the cabinets. Termites work very fast. One day can eat a lot so no way the owner can clean everything. Kitchen cabinets also shows whether it's infected with cockroaches. Mine have cockroaches nest at the cabinet near the rubbish chute. So I know and will never build cabinet to hide rubbish chute because you won't know when cockroaches started to build a nest

I got this too. Andrew installed for me and no cockroaches but ants still can come in. Hehe....

Of course can negotiate and most of the time they will give discounts. But don't ask for too much or else they will not be happy when reno your place. So negotiate and ask them to revise down a bit.... Maybe 1-2 times depending on how sincere you want them to do. If negotiate and in the don't use then waste ppl time lah.

that is what i heard too. did you test the water pressure when you go viewing? usually i will pretend to use the toilet to test the water pressure.

you hack, then can check got termites or not. if don't hack, got termites also don't know. and termites usually attack wood stuff first. after that only tiles....

not new as in new BTO but new as compared to all the EA built in the 80s or 90s loh. the rubbish chute is no longer in the kitchen type. to me those are considered new loh

termites lives in tiles too. my sis house in malaysia, the termites lives in tiles and can see the tiles starting to pop up. termites can eat cement too. scary!
