  1. i second that! the colors are bright yet not overpowering. from the 3Ds, I can't wait to see the finished product
  2. thanks for the update neubie, at least those of us who were eyeing this product can reconsider from your experience.
  3. Sync >> set ah! Rmg >> nope I checked today, all the grey pipes are one size and the white pipe is another size (2 1/2 inch). I also die die want to use the water trap (googled and found it's called a p-trap). Was at homely hardware but they don't carry pipes. They did have drain covers tho. I will try and make time to go down to those hardware shops with pipes but schedule very tight this week for work and house matters. Will keep updating as I go, thks for all the feedback and suggestions
  4. FM - fengshui master. Though by hacking I think I help release a lot of qi, I think Just pm me and we can arrange something - I always like to see what new things HDB comes up with!
  5. it's very well done, i think the lived in pictures look better than the just after-reno pictures! especially like the kitchen tiles and stair case railing. thanks so much for sharing.
  6. Hmmm draft a floor plan without any hacking? Challenge accepted! Heh but I'm not sure how practical this is - I can't tell if you would want a smaller hall in this layout. Anyway no fear, there are many helpful forumers here! Best of luck on your reno
  7. Therat >> I think this is what rmg means, did I get this right? I will try! Rickoveron >> if hoe kee cannot help me, then I will have to do this myself.... Don't think I can rely on plumbers, they're not cheap and I've been itching to do some diy
  8. Synchron >> Yup I am in the 600s. I dun mind kaypoh and take a look at ur unit but I am not FM leh! KristernM >> that's my last resort because I have a feeling they won't be very helpful. For instance they should have known this is going to be a common problem but no warnings or advice from their side at all. Good thing is everyone can learn from my experience and be proactive when buying sinks. My plumber wasn't much help - the above was his solution. Keer >> oh so people do read my blog *proud* hahaha thks for the kind words. Hope it helps you in your reno journey. The headboard costs just under $2k (I know, I know very ex. What to do) Alternatively you can diy like so
  9. I always dreamed of having a countertop with sink in a dry bathroom area to shave, brush teeth etc - but new flats can't extend toilets put yet. Abt the kitchen, I personally like a little color but the red doesn't have the look - the black looks better even though it's simpler. I was going to go for a black countertop but was advised against it because scratches are more visible. Doesn't mean you shouldn't go for it, but just be mindful; must take care. Keep the updates coming!
  10. Wow what a transformation! Good work. I love the divider between your living and dining. I especially like the little details like bottom lighting the shoe cabinet, the deep kitchen sink, concealment of your storeroom door - I could go on and on. Just want to ask - the lighted strips outlining the dining area. Are they lights or just a reflection effect?
  11. Hi guys quick question - my plumber installed my kitchen sink. The pipes provided are these grey ones. The drainage for the sink is this white pipe. So my plumber said they don't fit so this is his solution. I'm not too happy about this. Ayone knows where I can get a (layman's term) white pipe to grey pipe adapter? Think I'll be hitting the hardware shops tomorrow.....
  12. Cutiecat >> I am hoping it's not a chore to maintain - but then again it's too early to say. For now though, with all the dust and works it's holding up quite well.
  13. cs>> u even faster leh, i just finish an edit and you comment already! hahaha sink from hoe kee, $262 only
  14. As I left for work: (top) The cabinetry was all the way out the corridor; (bottom left) Still plenty of walking space available; (bottom middle) Sidah's selection for the kitchen sink;(bottom right) De Dietrich appliances. The making of my kitchen :(top left) Sink area; (top right) What is believed to be the kitchen island; (bottom) Full length cabinets along the wall. Returning from work:(top) There was still some cabinetry in the corridor; (bottom left) The lorry was already waiting for them downstairs; (bottom right) The living room full of wood and laminates once more. Half of the cabinetry done:(Clockwise from top left) A special shelf was designated for wired internet hub; the frame for my specially customized doors; inner shelves for the full length cabinets, the kitchen island we always dreamed of. A preview: ( left) A look at how the colors look; (right) an overall view from the living room.
  15. Hi Mae, glad to see your mattress 'nightmare' is finally over. Wonder what they are going to do with the loaned mattress tho
  16. Wah I like the layout - very square and huge! My bto flat is really tiny in comparison. I am not too sure of your needs, but when it comes to the kitchen here's what I'd do - hack the walls between kitchen and study - open concept kitchen and study becomes dining area - hack a window opening from balcony to let in more light - separate the kitchen/dining with glass sliding doors to prevent oil/smoke etc My 2 cents. If I ever became an ID I would probably hack down all the walls I can then replan the whole house hahahah
  17. I think the lights look nice and I like the dark basin - although it would really depend on the color scheme of your rooms to match the look. In the end though, all that matters is that you like it! Hehehe other ppl's opinions dun really matter
  18. oh, here is my wife's dream headboard.....realized!
  19. marsh >> yup, i heart my inlaws. hahaha in terms of post-hack selling, yeah there's no obligation to sell the flat in its original layout. however after hacking it may not be to everyone's taste, so in effect you may be limiting your market to those who can accept the hacks. that being said, you only need one buyer at the correct price and you can sell the flat so no point worrying what may or may not be a problem HACK AH!!
  20. yuene >> yup! hahaha it's always been my dream to have one. but it's more of a mini-island rickoveron >> yup, it's a gift from our parents and they insisted we take them kenjo >> yup, we are eager too! diva79 >> thanks, at last someone appreciates my handwriting! hahaha it's done on the ipad using noteshelf
  21. nice yuene! especially like your little vanity area behind the curtains
  22. kenjo >> thanks! actually if u noticed it was more personal in the beginning, but as the renovation wore on i got more and more busy so I had no time to do the writeups. good news for all of you, no need to endure my handwriting! i always welcome people to join me in hacking down hdb walls! hacking the kitchen walls and make good - $800 hacking wall between master and bedroom 2 - $300 usually your haulage fees would increase but please try and make noise and he should bring it down. sounds cheap but then some people say there is added cost to put up the walls again if you intend to sell. my answer to that is 1. my wife insists she never wants to move and 2. if you can find a buyer that actually likes the wall hacked and is willing to accept the unit as-is, then there won't be a need to build up the walls again. emobebe >> my starting quote was about $22k + $10k for kitchen. currently it is closer to $30k + $12k because i added many many things to the initial quote and the kitchen has something special in mind. look out for that! i engaged room for ideas for the renovation and carpentry, classic furniture to do up the kitchen.
