  1. Yup I second that. Can't wait to see how the staircase turns out - it's coming along very nicely!
  2. Pineapple >> someone showed me your layout and I was like wah! First impression is the architect must like symmetry sia. Unique leh but I think if you are willing to break some walls and try something a little different it can really be a great space. Especially that space in front of your main door - can become lobby leh! Got any current pictures? Sometimes floor plans can be quite misleading. Quite hard to make suggestions from the floor plan especially since it's not the cookie cutter type
  3. Woi everything also need to pay money one ah?!! Hahaha but if got Renotalk discount then can consider.
  4. Fwah nyew, your house very colorful! And how come your house got cute model one, can do one for mine?

  9. I was just about to comment that your furniture pieces (esp in black) would be a step away from your theme. From here I see either 2 ways you can go. Keep in mind the furniture is bold (design and colour) so either you choose to make them stand out or soften the look. To make them stand out is easy. Considering the amount you've spent on the furniture it makes seems to make them the focal point of your rooms. That means going simple for other parts of the room ie no loud feature walls, neutral colours, simple lighting ie no chandeliers. I love the flyol lights, they should be a nice focal point for your dining so go simple modern for your dining table. To put the flyol and sofas together would be taking the shine off each other. That's why when you see sofa model shots you don't see fancy ceiling lights together. Less is more in this case. To fit your theme ( or else what I think your theme is hehehe) you would need to fade the bold looks color of your sofa. Get a nice throw to soften the black. Neutral cushions. Get a nice looking rug and maybe consider wood grain flooring (parquet or laminate) to give it a softer Scandinavian touch. Do the opposite of the above, the idea is to fade away the sofas so that you appreciate the room as a whole. Ps I wish I had your budget for furnishings! All I have are my two cents
  10. I'll try and make it RB, keep it in the loop
  11. Oh my I love your sense of style from your inspiration pictures to your furnishings selection. You know what, your hacking plan would be exactly like mine if I were to do it. I think to realize your vision you have to think ahead - storage is key. Definitely hide whatever you can. The color scheme looks good finalized already. All that's left is to just bring the different elements together - simple eye-catching furnishings and choice of good quality materials. I agree with nimm, you might want to go with a good contractor instead of an ID. Make your selection based on quality workmanship and materials and your interactions (face to face) with him. I prefer to be objective but you are the right place to start looking for reliable ones. best wishes on your journey!
  12. Ah yes patterns... My wife was born 12th Jan (year censored), I was born 13th Feb. We don't really know Babbit's, our pet rabbit, birthday but I suspect it's on the 14th march. My first date with my wife was on the 15th April (forgot year, wife's gonna kill me) and we got married on the 16th May two years ago. there's a pattern everywhere if you look hard enough.... But Johnny boy let me be the first to welcome you to Renotalk! (first!)

  19. wah i like the table! interesting ritual - i've never seen that before (swaku). it's boiling water in the house for luck? I spied brownies there too.... *hungry* i should have taken my breakfast first..
  20. wah it looks so nice and clean! thanks mae for the updates. cs, I like your gate! hmm regarding lights, I like warm lights in the living room. at night it gives a very cosy and warm feel which I love. not surprisingly my bedroom also has warm lights. usually you use warm lights for mood. for reading in bedroom and living room, I was considering white light from task lighting e.g. side table lamp etc for functional purposes. my toilets and kitchen, bathroom and dresser table uses white light. downlights in my living room are warm, the DIY chandelier in my kitchen will also be warm.
  21. ok astute I am not. my competence is only up to connecting clearly labelled wires and buying an adapter to plug in my ipad to the tv. i felt so proud of myself until today RB i hereby crown you King of Networking and Cabling or full title King of Home Universal Groundbreaking Expansive Theatre, Infocomm and Technology Systems (See what i did there?)
  22. wah may your place looks fantastic! especially with simon's pro shots. but...but...but...how come you never invite me to see your adventurous bathroom !!?!? *hisk* *sad* neh mind I read ely's place is next so I will unashamedly invite myself to hers and any other subsequent house visits. but i am really envious of your kitchen island cum dining. and everything looks so sleek and modern with little touches here and there. the vignette at the small corner with the world clock? fabulous!
  23. The frameless doors and windows are a nice touch. It's the small things that make a huge difference. Keep the updates coming
