  1. Still some outstanding works to be completed by yours truly. (Hari Raya) Clock is ticking! We still need a study table and side tables for the bedroom. Did I mention where our tv is right now? But all that has to take a backseat to this week's project. Check in at the weekend. Hopefully I can do a reveal by then (hopefully) .....
  2. In other news, I'm still very in love with my kitchen. After visiting some other BTO layouts - ours doesn't seem so bad after all. I don't think I can live with closed off kitchens anymore. Still requires 4 more bar stools which probably we will just get for IKEA. They'll be in storage most of the time unless we have guests. Otherwise the 2 seats are just perfect for our couple's breakfast every morning. I've been experimenting with the layout of the couches. With this layout, there's some space for another gathering area at the opposite corner. Also the seats allow guests to talk to each other. Yet the space looks so much smaller than with the couches side by side. Dilemma.
  3. hi guys, I'm back! After the long holiday and catching up with work and other pursuits, I finally have time to start on the house again. Hari Raya coming leh! My wife and I splurged on Song Cho's stainless steel range - $700+. The high cost is for peace of mind - I've seen stainless steel products in homes all rusted after just a few months of use. We had 8 items altogether - dishholder for the sink and a towel rail for outside the bathroom; two sets each of toilet roll holders, towel rail and shelf for our bathrooms. So our bathrooms finally have accessories. Before this my spare bathroom didn't even have a mirror. And my kitchen sink is just missing a LED strip just above the backsplash for lighting.
  4. Hi neighbor! Glad to see updates, seems your hues is coming along nicely.
  5. I've always looked out at those point blocks and thought how cool it would be to stay there. Views look as great as I had imagined
  6. My hair when long is curly - imagine Justin timberlake but without the looks, money, moves and voice and you get the idea Ps I also wanted to tell my wife I wanna buy a sword (kenshin's) but she laughed at my neighbor who bought a sword so I think that's out the window
  7. Simple and nice. Really appreciate your sharing, deserving of all the praises!
  8. Heh wow I cannot imagine coordinating a reno remotely - even though you are wife-assisted. So far so good - must especially thank your wife, without her we will all be without updates!
  9. Aiyoh sorry to hear about all the sicknesses going around. Get well soon everybody!
  10. Lol! Glad to see you are back with updates!
  11. The glass doors are very well done - looks clean and neat
  12. Wow love how your place is coming together! I think people into the Scandinavian look can definitely use your tblog as a resource. I love your toilets - my wife is not too keen on dark colours even though examples like yours show ephod they can work. Keep the updates coming!
  13. Cool! I can't wait to see what you have in store for the bottom kitchen. But the hacking of the bedroom wall really got me to sit up. Are you going to put glass there? It would be so cool and modern. Kudos to the idea - I love seeing brave designs and even braver owners making it a reality. Keep us updated yeah
  14. Argh so it's you who stole the couch! I was wondering who managed to buy it from the showroom.... had to save up for it but when I checked was told it was sold liao but it's a very good deal....i just loved the feel of the leather when you are sitting in it. Good buy. Did you get anything else from OM?
  15. Wah thanks for the compliments. Read your blog - hope things get better soon. I think once you move in you can release a big sigh of relief!
  16. Hi holy, I feel a connection to you because your layout is very close to mine save for that structural beam at your kitchen. Else I would have advised you to hack hack hack!! I agree with boy blunder - quality of materials are important. Make sure you get the right ones. Subsequently make sure you do regular visits on site. I think there is a very thin line between IDs and contractors but the price point between them is very far apart. A good reliable slightly ex contractor may be more than his weight in gold as compared to a cheap ID. Looking forward to your progress pictures! Best wishes
  17. Woot! Marble floors and walls for your bathroom? Can't wait to see how that turns out. Very inspiring to read about your HDB experience. Just sad to hear got such people, cos we know that countless house owners had accepted the units as-is and made replacements on their own cost. Hope your other house choices won't be as long as your tile-selection marathon though!
  18. Progress looks good - it's coming along nicely! Can't wait to see how the kitchen turns out. I designed my kitchen myself too so it'll be good to see another male-oriented kitchen design Best wishes on your reno!
  19. Hi Ashley thks for reviving my blog! Didn't think anyone was still viewing I replied to your email. Don't think it's fair to put the prices I was quoted on a public domain. Will update this blog and my wordpress in time - need to catch up with school and my other pursuits. Not much happening on the reno front - soon soon I promise!
  20. Hi blue, been away so have been slowly catching up on the blogs here. First thoughts was - eh your reno like major leh not minor! Seems you went through some heartache, don't think you've been unreasonable. You get what you pay for but I think you may be seriously overpaying them from your account! Best wishes on your completion - hope the final product would match your expectations.
  21. Hi arch, I know it's still early but your reno seems to be going well. I like to see how much thought and effort you put into your home - I also did the tape thingy for the floor and I used chalk to draw on the walls for heights and cabinet layouts (helps my wife visualize what to put where in her wardrobe and how big it should be). Love the tap too! Best wishes on your reno - keep the updates coming!
  22. wah I love your wordpress blog - very useful to all house owners! Can I link you up from mine?
  23. Seems you have had a long, tiring journey but keep your spirits up! Progress looks good - hopefully your defects will get rectified and you can move in soon. I also think your selection of bold dark colours with the lighter wood seems to be paying off - Keep us updated on your final product
