  1. i love all the hacking! can't wait to see how it all turns out. good call on the drain covers too
  2. Love the swing chair and mirror like rubbish chute cover! Your kitchen is also definitely different, but I like!
  3. *thinks* even if you were sick, i'm sure you were e-shopping right? welcome back, hope your germ-ridden days are over.
  4. hi dawn, welcome to renotalk! regarding the selection of fridge, you might want to consider your kitchen theme. I've seem some kitchens that look great...until they add the fridge. your kitchen doesn't have to be white or stainless steel (or both) but you can always keep in mind how much you want the fridge to pop or fade into the background depending on your preferences. secondly with our tiny kitchens (fellow BTO sufferer here) small is beautiful. hope that helps
  5. hahaha if you have to wear 3d glasses to appreciate the tiling effect, I would consider that as a hidden cost
  6. good carpentry and carpenters should always be appreciated! looking good bro
  7. hmmm maybe go for spacious when no guests then when got guests move the table for comfort? hahahaha but i would go for pretty
  8. i love the open concept toilet! how come punggol don't have fireworks one..... i miss staying at my old place in boon keng *reminisce*
  9. welcome back! the forum fengshui seems so wrong without you around
  10. hmm but...but..the marble is so shiny and cool at night jaskel! but i agree, if you keep the flooring thanks to the design must really be disciplined in terms of decor and theme. my friend's unit has blue tiles which he chose not to hack to save costs. but everytime i visit he complains that the blue tiles don't go with his black and silver modern furniture. so autumn, will YOU remove the marble flooring or not?
  11. sky, i think you mean frosted instead of transparent right? or am i missing something here... btw i opted for the frosted doors in the end as my relative's flat in linear green had the normal bifold doors. too flimsy for people like me who are very 'rough' with things. more ex but they definitely last longer. hope my 2 cents helps
  12. Hi corn, welcome to Renotalk! Hmm about price comparisons, I think very hard to compare prices cos it's not comparing apples to apples. Example combo meal in McD is say $6.50 and BK meal is $5.90, which is worth buying really depends. Hacking costs, carpentry, flooring etc fall into this category. Hope to see more updates!
  13. Agree I love th bathtub with the industrial walls - very good fit!
  14. display cases, display island in your wardrobe, game room..... *speechless*
  15. congrats cs! i am so envious of your sofa. if I had a sofa as big as that, i'd probably name it - like Willy the sofa or something. unfortunately i don't think furniture that size can even fit inside my door much less my living room. hope you are enjoying your place!
  16. heh i love EM renovation threads on renotalk, they are always massive undertakings. best wishes on your reno journey. remember to breathe!
  17. can't wait to see how your study turns out!
  18. lol blue! i really love your bathroom tiles
  19. May, ladyR >> we should petition mr khaw to have an opt in for open concept kitchens for HDB LadyR, mabari >> yeah I'm so glad my wife loves the lights. I still want to do more though, doesn't feel like DIY unless there's drilling involved! Adi >> aiyah sorry bro. My schedule got wrecked. My uncle was in an accident and got warded over the weekend. He's ok but I think my DIY is pushed back ah - really no time to do it over the rest of the weekends already. On the other hand, the time I got while waiting around really got some wild ideas in my head. I have huge plans for a one-of-a-kind tv console..... Just need to do another round of sub con corralling and coordination. Potatoes >> it's just shy of $100. Ikea cord lights and king and king Wong accents. Details at theartistandthegeek.wordpress.com Angel >> sure thing, I like building networks! pm you liao. Stardust >> thks! I am lurking around your blog too hehehe
  20. thanks striking for the japanese link *drools*
  21. the tiling works look good! *and i wished I had saved a slot for before and after too*
  22. bedroom photos are under approval by the wife. In the meantime, here's the budget kitchen island lights I finally got around to hanging up. yup wife approved and everything. details on cost and assembly (not a very good guide though) are on my blog. Next up - side tables and staging the bedroom.
  23. bcookie >> actually i was thinking the reverse - this arrangement is better for small groups as it feels more cosy and you get to talk more. In larger groups, the long arrangement works because we have the long bench (masquerading as a coffee table in the above picture) and single seats to face opposite the couches. either way i have to decide and stick to it - can't be bothered to move it around. so high chance the couches will stay where they are and i'll create another gathering point in that open space. blue >> hahah i love the sofas for the price. but i only wished I had got one or two more pieces to fill up the living room. As it is, I have to consider the colours. If I stick with the inline concept, the opposing seats would have to be small low seating (beanbags or ottomans). The pros of the inline is the whole length of the living is used and makes the space much much bigger. cons is like you said, weird if everyone just sits in a line. widdlep >> hahah no prob man. there are other resources here where the owners helpfully list down the shops worth visiting. helps fill up those days when you don't know what to do.
  24. Soooo much hacking done - I LIKE! **** it - your ceiling design is very close to what I designed for my feature wall in my living room. *back to the drawing board* can't wait to see your final product - keep the updates coming!
  25. i like your dining area - simple yet effect is very nice! I'm thinking of getting the laptop table for my living room too. I think furniture selection also plays a part in making the final look note-worthy. Good job
