  1. After 3 weeks of renovation and some delays due to changes and requests we made after reno started, the following has been done. Our entire master toilet tiles, common toilet floor tiles, kitchen floor tiles and balcony floor tiles. Toilet feature wall at shower area and custom-made tiled toiletry shelves. Reno guy says the tiled toiletry shelves is alot of hard work and doesn't want to show his future clients Balcony floor tile and Tiling of balcony floor
  2. no space for a ceiling fan, so it'll be a wall fan which means no more u-shaped WIW. I even wanted a fan in my master toilet! LOL However, the position of the WIW fan and the WIW is supposed to form a tunnel to allow the wind to blow directly into the toilet. We will be having fans in every single room; living, all 3 bedrooms, WIW and even kitchen. hahah my ID and electrician were shaking their head at me.
  3. hi and welcome to t-blog & singapore, look forward to your updates
  4. there are moar updates from you, wow! love your buys, i wanted a panasonic aircon system too but too bad they dont have system 4 so had no choice but to go with mitsubishi. i forgot to say this previously but i like your tile choices and of course your most expensive kitchen tiles my WIW ah? it's getting smaller due to changes being made to the layout of that room and me wanting to have a fan in that section since it will not have air-con.
  5. lol your rubbish chute post **** funny la!!!! to you for being brave and curious enough to post the photos! now then i realise your reno and my reno are sorta on the same time line, everything looks to be progressing well, you must be so happy and excited! keep posting updates yeah! if they dont meet your deadline them, hahah !
  6. wah yours is really taking a long time, from july till now, hope your lovely wife and yourself will be able to move in soon. btw will you be having a housewarming for our batch of reno kakis?
  7. of course yours is cheaper la at that time i didnt know of this aliexpress if not i would buy directly rather than buy from amazon since amazon buy from china
  8. i bought mine a couple of months back from amazon.com, it's a SVAT VIS300-7M2
  9. congrats on your completion, enjoy your new place after all the hard work !
  10. your place is shaping up nicely, hope you will be able to get the major issues rectified before hand over!
  11. wow! my first time inside your t-blog. your place is really beautiful and charmingly whimsical. love all the little attention to detail like the TV and set up of your mini mid century home area. Congrats!
  12. Went up to view the tiling on Wed night but only the kitchen tiles were done due to changes and requests to both toilets we made on Monday. Will be going again this coming Monday to discuss the electrical plans with the electrician and reno guy and hopefully have more to update then. The kitchen tiles look well laid without big gaps between them even though our whole house is slanted and the walls are curvy. With my hb out of town yet again , my mum and I decided last minute to head down with the boys to Adamas Balestier yesterday evening to finalize our purchases of our toilet bowls and other accessories. This is my master toilet wash basin set. I eventually chose this basin as I wanted a bigger and evenly deeper one and after going to a couple of other shops, I just decided to buy everything from this shop. I decided to go for a BauLoop Grohe tap so that I can test both brands out and know which one will be a better purchase in future, hahah! For the master toilet, we bought the TOTO OMNI CW868. For the common toilet, my mum stuck with the TOTO AVANTE CW821 and we also ordered 2 hand held sprays. Last items were a Joven 35 25 liter storage water heater and an instant heater.
  13. the fancy digital display of my current washing machine is always getting spoilt, caused by just a tiny contact point, and the repairman from the company that brings in these washing machines say that it is a common problem. so tell your mum not to fret and soon all can enjoy her goodies from her lovely new oven The feedback from my tiler when we were discussing some other tiling issues was he would prefer smaller tiles for kitchen and bathroom floor tiles as those are easier to lay for the slight sloping gradient for water to drain. LOL he shook his head and said in hokkien too big when he asked us if those were our kitchen and bathroom tiles (we chose the 30x 60 rectangle tiles). oh well, it's a good way to test his skill!
  14. you wont regret it since there will be less electronics to get spoilt these old-school dials should technically last you longer than the fancy digital display
  15. thanks timothy! is this the same one? http://www.scarabeoceramica.com/wash-basins/giove-gaia/lavabo-gaia-80.html, if so this is super long but quite shallow as compared to the toto?
  16. hi timothy, did you manage to purchase this toto from adamas balestier? I called them today and the girl told me it is discontinued, i am having a hard time looking for a suitably wide and deep basin for my MBR, alot of them may be wide but shallow. as for the gaia, do you remember which shop along balestier, issit near adamas?
  17. hi joyous, late to congratulate you on reno completion and moving in. your bathroom is astoundingly big and luxe! enjoy your new home
  18. wow, really a huge undertaking. welcome to t-blog and i enjoy your narration style
  19. Forgot to update that we bought our hansgrohe rainshower with PPS 25% discount sometime in the past two weeks. With having to meet the reno guy for frequent discussions and trying to shop for items between the hb's business trips, the days just keep blurring into each other. We got one of their recommended plumbers to check our water pressure before purchase. Raindance Showerpipe 180 Single Lever Mixer EcoSmart with 460mm shower arm, DN15, We also bought the PuraVida 150 3jet Hand Shower DN15, to use instead of the one that comes with the rainshower I'm still undecided on the master bathroom wash basin so have not purchased a faucet but to make it easier, it may be hansgrohe. My mother chose from KHK Asia, a kohler wall mounted basin and the $328 kohler package of their July range of shower mixer, basin mixer and 80cm adjustable slide bar, soap dish and slide shower bracket. We also ordered a Philips 46 inch PFL8605 LED TV from Audio House on Sunday, can't find info on the web as the info is all for the 3D ready, made in europe version. Our requirements are simple; 46 inches, reasonably priced, no need 3D, no need smart TV. We were initially set on Samsung but due to our preferences, the salesman recommended the Philips we bought. We've been contemplating on bringing our current set over (however it is 4 years old and we have used the 5 year extended warranty every year due to problems) or getting a new one. We were egged on by a certain someone on Saturday and decided to take the plunge, but sorry we disappoint since it's not 52 inches Yeah, we really love it here and also wish to upgrade to another place in sunset way but we can't afford it and even if we can, it's just too much money to plonk down on a hdb flat. I'm still not looking forward to moving away from such a convenient and beautiful location.
  20. yes it is a corner, we're still living here now, has a different layout from the usual 3 room too. we really love this place but since we need more space we have to move out. Wah kamong arang 3rooms are huge, that's the size of the 20+ year old 4As and new 5room flats. I hope to have more photos to post, hahah but it's quite tedious to get to especially with 2 young ones so we only go sporadically. Good luck with your reno !
  21. I guess criteria like with all things is based on individual preference and budget? haha not very helpful but if you like something who is to say if it is too cheap or too expensive. Quality is always important but unless you know people who have used that product for long term, it's quite hard to glean reviews otherwise. Even on this forum, people dont come back after eg a year to give a review on the products purchased and reno standard. About 2 years ago, I bought a generic handheld shower made by a European company from Hoe Kee Imm to replace my broken one which lasted 6 years and so far, it is doing well but of course quite early on it has the usual oxidization on the rod where it can slide up and down. You can also try Adamas at Balestier, look for a China girl called ming feng, friendly and good service without being pushy. Sounds expensive - is that under grohe? you can consider welmi (chicken brand) from song-cho for that price, about 2-3mth back I called to inquire on prices and was quoted $136.95 for http://www.welmi.com.tw/front/bin/ptdetail.phtml?Part=9310s
  22. thanks for sharing your story, wish you a smooth reno and look forward to your updates!
  23. We rented a car for the day to run errands for the new house 1. visit some completed homes, 2. buy boxes of drinks for the workers, 3. look for a wash basin for the master bathroom. I'm astounded that looking for a basin is the most difficult decision I cannot make so far!, 4. went to a light shop recommended by the reno guy but we decided it would be best for him to go with us so he can advise us if what we like would be suitable. We discovered that the very first owners overlaid the marble tiles over the original tiles and now I have a huge step up from the main door balcony area to living room and step down from living room area to kitchen! It made me think of hacking up everything and doing new tiles but that was just a passing thought in frustration, lol it would be way too much work + $$$ as the hacking and removal has been completed plus I won't be able to keep the carpentry in bedroom 3. Nothing much else happening at the place except an older guy was cementing up my master toilet. I wonder if he will work tomorrow too, it's quiet work so the neighbours won't be disturbed and shouldn't have anything to complain about. As our place is the only place that has been transacted in this block since the start of the year, the aunty internet has been heating up and we can feel them staring at us whenever we pass by since they seem to know each other very well.
  24. thanks mrdisco, still early days la for the reno, haha fingers and toes crossed though the kitchen is an ok size in comparison to the whole house but definitely much bigger than the kitchens of newer flats - as is the overall house. I think there are many screwed up people in HDB cos the A is not a 100% guarantee that the place is bigger than another in the same genre of a different notation. Eg. My current place is 3NG but is one of the bigger flats you can find for 3room flats, even in comparison to the As and some 4 rooms! We definitely appreciate and deliberately searched out for such a 5 room on the bigger end due to our current place being on the bigger end.
  25. it's been awhile congrats on the completion of reno and being able to move in, look forward to more photos from you!
