Guess you have a point.. But I feel that classic themed is more suited when you have a huge home.. Small homes with classic theme will just make it look cluttered and messy.. In my opinion anyways..

Question: How many photos are you allowed to upload at one go?? ---------- Dining - before <Silly me did not take a photo of the dining prior to commencement of the reno. So this will do!! Dining - After ---------- Don't have a nice comparison for kitchen.. So just the after will do.. Kitchen - After ---------- And lastly, the outdoor jacuzzi area No 3D after pics though.. Oh, see the trench at the left side? That was previously covered by loose tiles.. Previous owner placed some pots on top of them.. When we went in, we removed the tiles and was shocked to see a few pieces of moldy, wet wooden planks in there, moss growing all over and also a cockroach!! Stupid ex-owners

I'm a little late on my reno photos.. Reno has already started (currently in electricals and tiling phase) and I have yet to post my 3D pictures.. Haha.. Work commitments and no thanks to my WTB.. (Yes!! YOU!!!! Time to start contributing to the thread!! I know you're reading this!!) Anyway, here are the before and supposedly after pics! Living room - before Living room - After ---------- Bedrooom - Before Bedroom - After

Original floor plan of my unit When I got the unit, it was in a REALLY shabby position. Previous owner and his family did not even maintain the unit at all. No renovation was done and it was VERY poorly maintained. Sigh. The whole kitchen cabinets are oil stained and falling apart! Marble flooring was slightly scratched up. On the day we got the keys, we realised things got worst! They did not even bother to clean the house at all. Toilet had stuffs growing in it. The planter in the roof garden was covered by some tiles and beneath it, it was wet and had rotten woods in it. WTH. But anyways, cleaned those up before the reno cos just couldn't stand the sight of it.. Lol Floor plan of my unit after reno <drawings not exactly up to scale due to my lack of floorplanner skills> Just a little teaser, the major renovation would be on the outside roof garden area which will be enclosed and subsequently converted into a walk in wardrobe. And then there's the renovation of the entire kitchen area. The floor tiles had black stains all over.. Was thinking of demolishing the kitchen toilet to put a washer and dryer in it. Any comments? Aside from that, there will be a mirrored feature wall by the dining, a living room tv feature wall, bedroom tv feature wall and feature wall as headboard. The balcony area will be decked with chengai wood. Lastly, of course false ceiling for mbr and living. 3D Pics will follow soon! Oh, on a side note, just proposed to my girl yesterday (22/2/2011) Guess what she said?

After months of researching and reading through the various blogs around, it's finally my turn to start one.. The journey started end August 2010 when my girlfriend and I signed the option to purchase. From then, the hunt for an interior designer began. My girl wanted a classic theme while I wanted a more modern theme. I shudder at the thought of returning home to a house full of curvy french furnitures with curvy corners and pink walls! (ok.. stereotype thinking).. So in the end we compromised and settled for a more modern classic theme.. Though, I think it's more modern than classic.. Yay me!! We went to a total of 6 ID Firms. • Interior Library - Too over the top. Plus, they charge a base of $3K just for the designing. Didn't follow up with them after that. • Earnest - ID gave us a confident aura.. However, their quotes were rather on the high side.. And somehow, the ID gave us a rather arrogant aura.. • Rheiss Interior - Had my reservations about the ID due to his rather aggressive/ salesman personality to him.. However, after a few more meetings, we got more comfortable with him. Also, reading other peoples experiences with him gave us more confident in his work. • ID Note - ID was friendly. But based on the first meeting, he doesn't seem to understand what we want. • Plush Living - one of our shortlisted ID's.. However, she wasn't able to deliver the quotations on time despite several reminders and herself committing to it.. Somehow doesn't seem as experienced either.. • Modern Home Interior Design - Passed by this ID on the way to our new place and decided to check it out.. ID seems knowledgeable .. However, he was also very young and does not seem to have many projects under him based on our discussion.. In the end, we decided to settle for the one whom we felt most comfortable with, i.e. Rheiss Interior. Hopefully the experience will be smooth.. Renovation work only expected to begin after CNY though.

Oooh.. What went wrong with the wallpaper? Go take some photos!! Anyways, the only part of the house with wallpapers would be the feature wall. Think it's pretty safe there? Your cables in the entertainment room, isn't there a hole behind your feature wall where you can connect your cables etc? OH crap.. My gal and I have the same idea too.. Let's hope red audi gets it clear this time.. hahaha
-
@lazybum: yea.. he drives a red audi.. Almost made me reconsider my career path.. @Blurhino: Agreed with you on the first point.. The 2nd point, i shall take note on that.. Thanks for the heads up! haha.. No comments on the 3rd one yet but I thought his sub-cons so far did great for you anyways? How bad was the soft close? What brand was it? So how did you hide your feature wall cables?
-
Nice house there.. Seems like it went pretty smoothly eh? Quite like the color theme.. Anyways, dont mind me asking, where did you get the coffee table from? Nice!

Electrolux Front Load Washers And Dryers
eggroe replied to adrian_john's topic in Electronics & Electricals
hey, what's the detergent and softener we can use for these front loads? i heard using the wrong detergent (those that produce alot of foam) will spoil the machine. understand i can use persil? but how abt for softener? -
Heard that your place has already been completed bro.. I demand pics!!! But hey, then again, take your time.. We'll just check your place out in person.. Nghahaha.. Think he was asking you today about bringing some customers over to see? lol
-
Renovation looking good.. But how comes deviate from your original plan (i.e. 3d imaging) by so much? Very bold choice for your MBR I must say.. Can't wait to see the finished product!
-
Lol.. You're not a very good sales person are you? Anyway, why is it not recommended? Anyways, don't mind just checking it out.. Might as well since we have to search for laminates soon either way.. No worries about the LED.. Thanks but anyway, my reno's only starting after CNY.. zzzz.. So for now, time to update your blog! An update is due from you bro!!
-
Ohh.. Thought when you paid downpayment, you already decided which product you want? Therefore, they should be providing the specific product.. Oh, btw, found a buyer of your laminates deposit yet? Might be interested.. But have to see the laminates first.. Scary the way you condemn those laminates.. Hahahaha.. Maybe can directly ask red audi to show us.. My girl and I just signed with red audi too.. Haha.. Hopefully our journey is as smooth as yours.. Should be happy you didn't spoil the LED lights in the process.. Haha.. I guess the main lighting for my place would be cove lightings.. The LED's are just to highlight certain areas like feature wall, mirrors etc.. Should be fine right? Oooh.. yea.. the one piece type.. What's that white color thing there?
-
Shucks. Sad to see your problem with the laminated floorings. But sometimes, it happens to the best of us.. Not possible to wait till they re-stock? Anyway, it is them (Supreme) who is unable to perform their part of their duty.. Are they still allowed to forfeit your deposit? Let's hope it will be cos we'll be going thru the same process as you!! What I meant was, it comes in a set (i.e. a box) where you can just plug and play immediately.. I heard that there are 2 types where you can use as downlights at home.. 1. A LED downlight which comes with a set (i.e. one piece with transformer etc within it) <if the LED fuses, the whole set needs to be changed> 2. Buying a separate LED light and a separate fitting <if the LED fuses, you can just change the LED> This is what I understood from a distributor.. How many LEDs do you have within a downlight? Still contemplating between PLCs and LEDs..
-
Hey BlurRhino, Glad to see your reno coming along nicely except for the air-cond blooper.. How is the carpentry going? Just wondering though, how many watts is your LED down-lights and how much did it cost ya? Is it a 1 set (incl transformer etc.)?
