The windows are frosted white. About curtain, maybe later since my windows are alrdy frosted. I am thinking of getting from indonesia if we want later. Cheaper All the wardrobe (master and common) are purchased, not built in, but we can choose the shelf design and door. Today, furniture will come in. As of now only the shelf in storeroom came

hi steelze, reno is going quite smoothly, except some hiccups on painting and wood door from yontat. The wood door installation is delayed a few days as I forgot to ask them earlier to come and do the measurement. Another coat will be painted over as the paint job is quite bad. This will be on Monday. Doors will come in on Thursday. Will post some pictures once the doors are up. The wall without plastering is quite bad, especially for 2yrs apt. Since I already decided not to spend the extra 1.8k, there is nothing to complain about. I hope once the furniture is in, the uneven wall will not be too obvious. How's your house? No more problems right? I guess it does not matter which best contractor or ID is doing the reno, there will be issues here and there. Sometimes issues on within our eyesight (like not even stuff) and sometimes issues arise when start using frequently (like your piping problems). So far, I only notice a few minor eye catching issues. Others still dunno yet, need to move in and see.

Congrats in your house purchase and welcome to RT. I have PMed you the contact. All the best.

Good... at least all problems rectified. I guess gotta used to having a house. Any thing can pop up any time. I am very happy with my window from Alex. So far tiling is moving, but I feel a bit slow. My contractor told me 2 weeks, maybe this is the standard time. Hopefully things will go smoothly. Out of good will, I informed my landlord early that I will be moving out mid of April (more than 1 month notice), now they are kan ciong, asking me to allow ppl to come in and view. I thought since my deposit will be gone as I broke the contract of 1 year, they will ask ppl to come and view after I move out. I guess not everyone is that nice. Sigh...

Hey bro... my reno up to now: new windows are up and wall tiles for kitchen and common bathroom are up. Nothing much other than that. Will post some pictures once more tiling works are done. How's your leaking problem? Is it solved? Did your ID come to help you patch up on the crack yet?

Hi Maxwell207, thanks for your advice. I will need to do daily check starting from tilings. Until now, still hacking last room and walls still yet to be hacked. Hopefully today can settle.
-
Hi Maxwell207, sorry I did not have time to visit my house last nite. Yesterday was the first day of major hacking. I will be there tomorrow morning to discuss some stuff with my contractor. I will update later. How about you? When will you start your reno?

Hello all RT Forumers, just want to wish you and your family a healthy, wealthy and happy new year. Best wishes for all of you in this Rabbit Year. My reno will start after CNY, will update when time comes. Huat Ah...

ARE YOU SERIOUS???? This is VERY BAD... I am getting worried now, and my reno have not even started... worst if ID did not answer call after reno... Why paying money to do reno has to be so painful... and the sum is not small...

Wow... all ard Yishun area... this is great, plus all our layout are the same... hahaha... mine is ard ave9 behind esso gas station.

Hi Errandz, welcome to RT and congratulations on getting a house. There are a few things I learned, some cost money some dont I will try to list all the things I can remember so far, but since my reno has not started, I am sure there will be more. - using rain shower, need to use tank heater instead of instant heater, as the pressure coming out of tank heater will be more powerful. cost: need to install hot pipes - I initially thought of reusing the aircons as they are only 1 year old, but need to redo aircon piping. Guess what, redo piping only cost 1k plus for system 3, where the system 3 aircon cost only 3k for inverter and 2k plus for non inverter. So decided to change aircon. - If you look at my floorplan, I intend to have an aircon in the study room as I am combining master bedroom and bedroom3. But the water piping for aircon in the study room needs to go to the balcony drainage (closest one). Initially thinking of after the pipe coming into the balcony, can bury the pipe, but contractor dont want to do for me. Still thinking of solution... - Initially thinking of having kitchen door (frosted glass panel), but drop it cause to save up as we dont cook that often. Can save $700!!! - Initially never think of changing bathroom window, but during the handover, the tenants told me the glass can fall down as the holder is made of plastic and after years in the sun, crocked alrdy... extra money spent... - there are lines in my house, if you look at my earlier post. My contractor will help me cover up, but since I am not going to plaster the wall, over the years there will be crack lines along the line. Plastering cost a lot of money... and building feature wall to cover it up also cost money... I will post some more as I think of... Only for me, I try to avoid built-ins if possible, as hacking is painful and costly.

@kotaaro, nice that you dont need to do too much. My house is last done 20 years back, so no choice, have to do all. It's ok, take it at your own pace. No need to force yourself. Best wishes to you and your wife. Feel free to ask any questions, RT forumers are quite friendly and helpful. @steelze, nice seeing you put your baby's photo. Hope to have a kid soon, i bet it is one of the most wonderful journey. Indeed our houses are 98% same layout. Will bug you a bit tonite

Wah so cheap... I have not looked at the door frame yet, but I called my contractor, he told me changing the door frames cost 200 plus each... Not sure yours is only the price of the frame itself or with labor. He told me need hacking and stuff... So I probably not changing them. Sigh...
-
Hi Steelze, you mentioned about door frame. Are the previous door frames from hdb ones (steel ones). Any suggestions on whether to change or not? Mine are all steel ones. Thanks

Yea... I am very happy for you and your family. I know this is the most amazing thing compared to the renting period... I am hoping all reno will go smoothly then I can move in end of March, no more renting... yeah...
