Ermm, not trying to be scarstic or something. Exactly like showroom doesn't really relates to real genuine cowhide...it may be just some PU which looks like leather. I saw some myself.

I really doubt you can get genuine full leather 3+2 sofa at this price... To upholster 3+2 sofa, how many cow hide you think they use? I think min 5 of them. So $1600 divided by 5 is =$ 300+ per cow hide. And I'm not even touching on the sofa frame, foams, labours and stands for it yet.... Why I say this? Cos I did ask my upholsterer about this too.... Just 2cts.

For my undestanding from my sofa maker, leather is not painted...but surface was 'grind' to make it smooth and layer of 'cant remember what' was stick on top of the leather. They also told me that climate in Singapore are not actually good to use leather as humidity is always high, so moisture are trap within the leather itself. It will be even worst if the leather sofa place is at direct sunlight. The only prevention is apply leather care product every 2-3months. After all hearing all these mentioned by my sofa maker, I passed on the thinking of using leather for mu sofa....lazy to do all those waxing and stuffs....hahaha. Cheers!

Exactly! That is why I stated in the other thread that I no longer buy stuffs from retailers especially sofa, dining chairs etc. I do my sofa direct from factory. Much solid build, design(You can even choose base/leg from wood, plastic or stainless steel) you really like and so much choices of materials to choose from like PU, Fabrics and real genuine leather. It's only a fraction more or even compatible on price when compared to those at retailers but at a far better quality. Cheers!

Just wanna share my new customized 3 seater sofa where the dimension just nice for my 'KTV' room....design proposed by designer of the factory. Going to do some small stools with them soon too....will upload again soon. Cheers!

I second this statement. Singapore high humidity level are not suitable for leather stuffs, leather last longer in dry conditions. provided you turn on your air-conditioning often enough to keep your space dry for your sofa? Anyway, it will be more 'economical' to use fabrics. You may even want to use removable covers so you can wash it. Just 2cts too...

I don't have camera with me, but this was what they send to me when my sofa was completed at their place. Paid $900 for changing of belts, foam and fabrics. Basically from bare bone....hahaha.

Well, I dont buy furniture from retails anymore. Cos most of the stuffs from them are lousy built and over price. I do most of my furnitures like sofa and dinning chairs with 1 of the factory I knew from friend. They do customized sofa etc. If you need contact, just let me know... Cheers!

Can consider customized sofa, or even re-upholstery your old ones. They cost only a bit more or even same price, and you can choose your own design, dimension and fabrics! Or even the leg of your sofa....if you need contact, just give me buzz.... Just 2 cents... Cheers!
