Thanks adidaem, Not really into dry/wet kitchen as the space is pretty limited. Unless if I can afford Bedok Court (22xx sq ft) ; p For that kind of size and lay-out, I will have both wet & dry kitchen ; p (+ lotsa entertainment space as well ; O ) thanks for the link, strike me with some good ideas ; )

wow, that's even better ; ) How old is U'r kids ? Already in the school ?
-
oic. nice. ; ) U familiar with that area ? That area shiok, most of the time windy one. Very near ECP, ride there, jog there, walk there all can ; ) basically for me, simply move from Ave 2 (my MIL place) => Ave 3. Good for me cause its just beside my kids school, so will be super duper convenient for them to go school.

Wah, sui sui sui... thanks for sharing this one... think i'm going to re-look into my long long island plan liao ; p + fine tuning ; O''''''''

For contractors, I would want to go to them last, cause i always feel like it is not very nice to approach them via referral and eventually not giving them the job. But of ID diff lar, they all out to want to meep people and give quotes, so I not so paisay talking to IDs ; p BTW, for your contractors, can you email me their contact? Thanks ; ) So far meetup 2 ID, 1 more next week. Want to have a view of their quotes before going to Contractors. So far on hand have 2 contractor. Want to have a gauge of the rate before moving on. Not too sure if it is realistic budget ($40K all in) - all kitchen cabinets (approx 40 ft) - solid surface + granite (approx 30 ft) - all kitchen hacking work = retain all existing flooring - entire house re-wiring - approx 37 power point - approx 27 lighting point (which mean will have 27 light switch) - 5 x telephone point - 5 x network point - replace existing piping - hacking of 1 toilet (to remove existing bath tub) - lighting (normal type with energy saving bulb, nothing really fanciful) - 4.3m study table top (dining area wall) - 4 x 4.3 m book shelf (dining area wall) I've shared with those ids that i'll not need their design work but only contracting work & project management etc. So far they do share some good ideas with me ; p

I like this one too, but a total of 9.1m of worktop is going to be costly lor. So far I'm still waiting for quotes so tt I can access how much each item cost and see what to do n what to change or drop. ; p
-
Possible, but with all those glass thinggy, will burst my budget ; p What I want is to have a good air-flow and natural light, hence the idea of open concept comes. Also those glass very troublesome, cleaning time siong, if don't clean, will have finger prints, stains etc. ; p

Oh cool . ; ) I will only be collecting key come Mid-may. So for me still have plenty of time to really work on it.
-
Ok.. done up with a prototype of my semi open concept kitchen. Think this should be the one we will go with. The worktop area will have a opening, (no glass etc) of 4 m. Hence it will open straight to the Living room & the walk-way.
-
For mine will be heavy cooking, minimum 2 meals a day (everyday) except Sunday. So after receiving feedback, think will drop the island concept but still maintain the semi open concept. ; ) Still working on the lay-out ; p
-
oh ya hor. didn't notice. Thanks thanks... ; )
-
This is my original plan. As you can see, the worktop is very long. Each is 3 m. so figure out it will cost a lot for granite and cabinet fabrication cost. Hence I'm now working on my 3rd layout. Concept is out, but drawing not yet, so will be doing the drawing soon. ; p

Wah power... Now I have 3 design in mind for my kitchen. 100% open concept with about 9 m of worktop (this will increase my reno cost) 100% open concept with island (cooking on the island), received many negative feedback as it will be messy (especially for chinese style cooking! i agree) 50% open concept with standard type of kitchen, cost will be slightly lower as the work top & cabinet will reduce. mmmmm..... ok ok, let me go arrange my thoughts and start my tblog ; p -

Wah, another lesson learn today ; ) ..... Thanks for the detail explanation. ; p My Mother-in-law's house toilet bowl was from previous owner (move in condition). hence didn't change anything. The seat height is really high (not comfortable) even for my height (1.79m). mmmm. okok, let me go read back u'r post to find the brand of toilet bowl you purchase as reference ; p -

Thanks NeoBY : ) Will research more into it to see if I really need it. Pretty true that if you keep the main door open most of the time, U won't need it. Especially for my new area, the current owner have bought over the recess area and have a large iron gate installed, with a 6m sq area of recess area, they have build a store, shoe cabinet, small seating area to wear shoe. For this, think might not be feasible to have digital lock since I will die die need to lock the iron gate... mmmmmmm.. -
Hey, this is a place I call home ; ) Happy Family ; ) Very nice of you sharing your recipe. (When my house is ready, sure to start doing more cooking over the weekend with your recipe) ; p

OIC. thanks thanks ; ) You must have spend a great deal of time researching and reading up to have such great vast of knowledge about reno ; ) Thank you very much for all the sharing. Shorten my learning curve. ; p -
Seriously I don't know how. The only thing I can do is check if there are any bad publicity about this firm, if don't have, will have to assume they are delivering quality stuff where no one complain ba. Think reno is like that. My last BTO, I uses the came ID coy as my friend, his ID design so so, but contractor work dam good. So I follow lor, uses different ID, ID design solid, dam good, love it, but suay, contractor work so so, quality not as good as my friend one. So a little luck plays ba. ; )

Anyone uses them before ? B M S Marble & Granite Specialist I was quoted $80 /fr (Indian black granite). Sure sounds cheap compare to lotsa other surface.

Hi edenstrauss, Can you share more info about this MF23 PVC Panel ? I tried google but can't seems to get any write up about his material. Yes, tamper glass is indeed very expensive. Hence if MF23 PVC is durable, not easily scratched (via normal cleaning to remove finger prints etc), I will be able to consider in future, design something that can close up my planned open concept kitchen. ; ) Thanks, have really learn a great deal from all your post. ; ) Cheers
