  1. got to be kidding. like the previous replies say.. designs always would change. your choices also would change. moreover, even if you say that the price of furniture would always increase. you need to see what you can do within this 2 years with that $. if within these 2 years, the market really pick up etc etc.. got good investment opportunities, you can easily make back that difference.
  2. i just did mine... stainless steel for 5 'walls' of the kitchen cabinet under the sink, change hindges, re-did laminate, for 1k. i'd pass you the contact later when i get home.
  3. no worries, the nails have been removed, its basically just to ward off evil. the Indian priest was saying, if i don't believe also no use. so no effects there.
  4. Hi everyone... just some quick questions. what height should a tv be placed? do you place a tv based on the height of the sofa/ bed which you are watching the tv from, or base it on the height of the console? my console is 50cm from ground to top. how much higher should i wall mount the tv? (haven't bought sofa yet) also about height of hanging lights. what should the height of a hanging light be in the living room area? does this differ from the height in the dining area? if you want to put those cluster of 3 hanging lights in the living area, what is the recommended height? my ceiling is 3m in height thanks for viewing/ suggestions.
  5. yes, think i'd do that. thanks for your concern, i also think its always better to play safe.
  6. I'm pretty new to RT, but i must say mahjongace, your place looks fantastic!!! your intial pic of the tv console showing that really very very little 2 wires, and you were complaining, i was thinking you very tiao ti.. but then i saw the finished product and i can now see why you so particular! very very nice! your place really went through quite a huge transformation, from the floor tiles not even being there to becoming very cosy/ classy.. i also must say, your wife's taste very nice, think can see that the glass partition really done with a lot of love.. i am now trying to do up my place, but headache headache.. too many choices, every day changing decision.. really tiring, but fun at the same time. anyway, enjoy your new place!!! i'd also start putting up my pics soon.. but i doing very minimal reno only...
  7. pagan practices huh... thats an alternate view. i never really thought about it. i'm not religious or superstitious (I think), so leaving it there doesn't really bother me too much, considering its quite discreet. but then, of course if there might be some negative connotations to it, i rather play it safe. other than that, think i'd just leave it there, considering most pple tend to think that its just for 'protection' and i guess there's no harm about more protection.
  8. thanks all for the comments and suggestions. personally, i'm not a religious person. However, i always try to thread on the safe side. i mean, why find trouble if trouble doesn't find you right? moreover, speaking about feng shui and geomancy.. i'm still a little skeptical. cos i've seen feng shui shops go out of business. etc etc. slightly worried about getting an indian geomancer's reading/ advise, might cost me a bomb. any idea how do they charge for such services? or if there are even services just for 'general consultation'?
  9. i'm also not addict, but i do try to play once a week.. most of the time always lacking one player..
  10. so you don't think this has anything to do with Vasthu? or Indian Geomancy?
  11. Hi Yummy, yeah.. i don't think that catholics belief in evil spirits. but i'm still quite puzzled. the other question is, can i remove it if thats the case? or is there some rights/ ritual i need to perform prior to removing those nails. the nails are found on each and every door frame. main door, masterbedroom door, guest room door...
  12. I recently purchased an apartment which was previously owned by an Indian Catholic. I noticed that at the top of every door frame, there is a nail, about 7cm-8cm in length embedded at the top right hand side of each doorframe. (on top of the door frame). I did consider if it was for hanging things out of reach of children.. but the nail is door frame is about 2.3m and the golden nail is embedded right at the top top of the frame, which would make hanging things even difficult for adults. I was wondering why the nail was there, and tried doing some research on Catholic beliefs/Vasthu (as the previous owner was an Indian), but to no avail. Any explanation why there's a nail on each and every doorframe of the apartment?
