The one i bought are for false ceiling only. However, you can buy those box type, which can be install directly on concrete ceiling.

Hi All, I am in the midst of renovating the house and will need to do marble polishing to living room and wood varnishing to bedrooms. As the carpentry work will take about 2-3 weeks to fabricate before it can be installed. The question is should I do the polishing and varnishing before the wardrobe/cabinet/feature wall etc installed? Whats the market rate for doing such work and any recommended contractor? TIA.

I had previously bought LED downlights from JB (Starworld @ Tompoi), cost RM60 (exchange rate around 2.9x) for 18W LED, with 3 colours and remote (remote control cost RM15). The same light cost 70.80RMB from taobao (https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z0k.7385993.1997994373.d4919385.Ivq20j&id=45644732766&_u=peu3vn1d598). I prefer LED lights that can change 3 colours and with remote, thus slightly more expensive (without remote is about RM30+). I had just ordered 20 downlights (12W 3 colours https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.0.0.i0LvQJ&id=42488671786&_u=p1lq4rcna97f) from taobao. JB would have cost 30RM, taobao is RMB33. Anyway, just order from taobao and will only ship out this few days. Will know if it is ok when I collect it. It is very easy to change downlight even it is spoil, just buy spare one since it is not expensive in Taobao

Hi All, I am about to engage a renovation contractor to do some ceiling and carprentry work. What are the things to look out for when engaging the them to do wardrobe, cabinet, feature wall with TV console etc. The quotations only stated "supply and install full height cabinet c/w solid laminated ply at bedroom entrance". How do we ensure the material (wood, laminate) use is of certain quality?

Just realize electrical contractor can be quite expensive after getting a few quotes for my own lightings work. One of the contractor even quote "Provide labour and tools to install only for light fittings - $150" for each room and living room. This is on top of the $50 per lighting point, I would think the $50 per point should enough to cover labour tools. If you found any good contractor, do share with me too.

I am not a electrician but I do have some basic knowledge on these. I would think It is possible to do rewiring without taking down the false ceiling, though the job will be more difficult. The false ceiling need to be cut open with holes as the wiring will need to run in trunking and this trunking will need to be installed on top of false ceiling. The false ceiling can be cut open and patch back later. If your existing trunking on false ceiling can be reused (eg pull out all existing wiring and run the new wiring), then it may be easier. Is yr trunking that goes to the socket concealed? If not, the electrician may be able to tap from nearby socket and run the trunking across the skirting. Are you doing rewiring for the existing lights/sockets (replace old wiring with new wiring) or just adding new lighting point and sockets? 3k does sound like alot if just adding new point.

You will also need to plan for the switch. Does 1 switch turns on all light or different switch turns on different (section) lights. And do you need 2 way switch etc. Where will the electrician tap the electricity, will it overload... The electrician should plan for you but still good to know. Just sharing as I am also in the midst of finding contractor to do L Box and Cove light.
