Mich Clare, Yep! Found one that I'm happy with so far. Understands that "i'm just a poor person who wants a nice house". Like one of my friends said, I should find an ID whom I'll want to invite to my housewarming. Haaa! Nothing horrible up to date, so hopefully it continues..

actually if you're concerned about the budget, maybe you can tell the ID to help you think of ways to incorporate the tiles into a good design? isn't that what they're there for? to solve problems? for my case, i didn't like one of the kitchen wall because the previous owner use small mosaics. but since i don't have the budget to redo everything, my ID actually proposed a small "bar/breakfast table" thing that uses mosaics too.. and surprisingly it looks good!

yep, i agree with neubie. heard very bad stuff from friends who engaged IDs from those more 'popular' firms. at first promise this promise that, sign already different story. call never answer, got problems push here push there. i think the most important thing is to get an ID you feel good with and is responsible. of course let them know that you things to be transparent and u HATE surprises.. Up to this stage, we're happy with the ID we chose so far. waiting for renovation to start before I can tell you more la..

mich clare, i know what you mean. my wife and i get annoyed when the IDs we met don't give ideas. like that might as well find contractors. and the bochap ones are the worst. especially if you have a budget and then they give you one kind of look. i think if you cannot click with your ID then the whole process will be quite painful, since that's the person whom you'll be looking for almost everyday. we actually "kicked" a few out of our "possible" choices simply because we cannot stand their attitude, though their price not bad.

so how will we know what the VOs are? will they state it in the quotation? or usually verbally?

starlet newbie, heard the same thing from some friends too. They said that the ones who are always at the exhibition always have packages but in the end need to top up more money. Thought of going to CHEW but it seems that their feedback is quite horrible here leh. Can you recommend me some good ones? I was recommended by some friends to some IDs from smaller companies. Rave reviews about them and the price... Hopefully my quest for the "right one" is not as torturous as some of the rest here.

yah. seriously, when you look at some of the IDs you can tell that they not very "designer".. but i think you should just go to a few ID companies and check it out, since i heard some ID companies have quite competitive rates nowadays. also, some contractors not easy to handle.. cos they are not "into" customer service, just good pricing! ha! if cheap and got people to design and manage your site for you, better right?
