Hihi, Need some advice here. Recently just got a place (still waiting for 1st appt ). The seller has converted one room to a walk-in wardrobe and have built-in wardrobe at both side of the walls. I would like to convert the room back to a normal bedroom. Is it cheaper to dismantle and relocate one side of the buid-in wardrobe to another room, or build new one? Thanks in advance!

Embark On A New Renovation Journey After 8 Years.....

Hi, did wholesale-faucet get back to you? Wondering if you would recommend buying faucet from them (again)? Thanks. BTW, your renovation is looking good! -
Hi hi, How is the quality of the faucets from whole-sale-faucet? I just look at their website, their price is much lower than what I saw in the shops in Balestier. Do you recommend to buy from them? Thanks.

Any feedback on the quality of the faucets? Thanks.

Hi all, Previous owner has hacked away the 1m W x 1.8m L storeroom in the kitchen. But I probably need the storage place. Is it cheaper to construct back the storeroom (1.8m W x 1m L) or build a built-in ceiling-to-floor cabinets of the same size? Oh, this unit has high ceiling, ~2.9m tall. I plan to redo the whole kitchen after I get the keys. Thanks in advance.

Hi Yaolong, Your new place is looking good! Quite impressed with the amount of work done and only cost ~55K? Can you PM me all your contractors' contact as well as where you get your tiles from? Thanks in advance. Btw, do you know if your air-con contractor do trucking re-routing for existing air-con? I just got a place and the air-cons still look good, but the compressor unit is installed a bit higher such that the windows can only be the sliding type. Wondering if the contractor can reposition it lower.

Hi Jaskel, Been following this forum and I love what you did for your new home's lighting. I just got a place (now waiting for 1st appt) and is thinking of rewiring the whole place with energy saving lights or LED. Does LED lights cost lesser in long term? Or just stick to energy saving lights? Do you have any suggestions and know any good electrician who can do this job? Thanks!

How To Match Light Pink Marble Flooring To Earth Colors Wall?
renotm replied to renotm's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
Hi edenstrauss, Thanks for the comments! These colors I chose was based on the pink marbles flooring... my original plan was to hack the flooring when I get a place so that I can have more colors in different part of the apt to my liking... But since I bought this unit with a still-in-good-condition pink marbles, I will have to either bite the bullet and still go ahead with the hacking or be limited by the choice of wall colors. (and Pink is DEFINITELY not one of them. ) Current owner has one of the living room's wall sunflower-yellow which does brighten the area, and all the rooms white (guess they also find it hard to match colors to floor LOL). But since my current place is also light yellow/sunflower-yellow in the living room, I wanted a change. My last option is just paint the whole place (diff shades of) white. Can you PM me Cally's contact? At this point a professional help in color matching is a great idea! Actually do you think walnut colored furnishings matched the pink floor? -
How To Match Light Pink Marble Flooring To Earth Colors Wall?
renotm replied to renotm's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
Hi all, Thanks for the comments and suggestions! Personally I am not a "pink" person, but it is really a waste to hack away the nice marble floor. With that being said, this means any shades of blue, green is kinda out, right? Hi edenstrauss, I went to Nippon website, but dun seems to see the Lily white color? Anyway, I look at some of the colors that I may consider, what do you all think? Still wanting something darker but mostly can't with the pink floor. As for feature wall, I am considering but is thinking along the walnut color line. Current owner has a build-in shoe cabinet and full-length wardrobe that I intend to keep. Both are dark walnut color. Or do you have any suggestion? -
How To Match Light Pink Marble Flooring To Earth Colors Wall?

Here's the photo: Left taken at night with white light, Right taken in the day with normal daylight. Sorry can't show better picture, coz current owner still staying there, didn't want to invade their privacy. -
Hi all, Recently bought a 4rm hdb, now anxiously waiting for 1st appt. Couple questions regarding marble flooring and hope someone can give me advice. 1. Current flooring is light pink broken marble for the entire unit (except kitchen and toilets) and is in pretty good condition, but it doesn't seems fit my "dream" walls of earth colors. It's a pity to hack it too. Any suggestion on how to match the wall colors with the pink flooring? 2. Current owner has some built-in wardrobes and shoe cabinet that I intend to keep. Should I choose to overlay with laminates/tiles, can it be done with the cabinets in place? 3. If I keep the marble flooring, definitely need some polishing. Can the dry/wet polishing be done to with the built-in wooden cabinets? need extra protection? Appreciate all comments and suggestions!

Hi all, Recently just bite the bullet and bought a 4-rm resale. While the apt is in fairly good condition, I am thinking of changing all the windows. Reason because they looked fairly well-used but the main factor is 2 of the rooms and living room are facing the NW, hence some afternoon sun. Does anyone out here has any good window contractors to recommend? The windows are really big (~1.5m H x various W from ~2m to 2.7m)... which I loved but also reckon spending a bomb to replace them. I saw some discussion on double glazed windows (heat insulation + noise reduction). I do not have concerns with noise as the neighborhood is fairly quiet, I am looking more for heat insulation. Any recommendation? Anyone have installed the Low-E windows? Really appreciate all suggestions and recommendations (contractors and type of windows).

Thanks for all the suggestions! after re-looking at them again... I think version 2 is best (apart from the legs to door). Tmr going for 3rd viewing, most likely will place the OTP if no hiccups. Then your apt will be my reference for reno .
-
Wow... nice 3D drawings! Thanks! Version 1: Good - wake up first thing can see the sky... Bad - also wake up first thing can see the sky... What's the distance between the toilet wall and the lower left end of the bed? Version 2: Everyone I talked to say no bed facing door.. so no. Version 3: Huh... this is a layout that is most interesting... in the middle of the room. Definitely worth considering. Version 4: My family already commented the master toilet not very big... with this hacking, dun see much more space generated and also make the room's LO even more... odd?
-
Yes, the unit that I caught my eyes is also top floor, big long windows, high ceiling. I didn't measure when I was there, but I estimated the windows are ~1.5m tall? Yes, yes. I really appreciate any suggestions you have on the master room. Hacking? I am fine with hacking but hopefully still can maintain 3 bedrooms? Thanks a lot!!!

Hi, Really like what u did to your place. I am in the apt hunting phase and I recently saw an exact same LO as your unit. Like the feel of the unit but initially dunno how to do the reno considering the unique LO (hence haven't place the OTP yet). Your t-blog gave me many new ideas and now I am seriously considering getting it. Couple of questions: 1. The master bedroom's LO seems a bit "difficult" to place the bed and furnitures... may I ask how do u do that? Current owner converted it into a walk-in wardrobe but I would like to keep it as a bedroom. 2. Your windows looks big (tall)! May I ask what the height of the windows and if it is difficult to clean (considering the height). =P Thanks in advance for your advice!

Hi, Does anyone know how much it cost to remove the existing L-box ceiling in a typical 4-rm HDB living room (without much damage to the existing reno)? Maybe also include some electrical re-routing cost? The previous owner has done up the place quite nicely, but they have too many halogen lights in the L-box, make the place hot. Thinking of replacing it with simple cornices. Many Thanks.
