Hello, my department needs some minor renovation work. So far we only received one quotation since it's really minor.. The job includes, 1. dismantle a build-in day bed 2. carpentry work to cover a rubbish chute 3. Some installation That's all. This one and only one contractor quoted me 800. Since there is no comparison, I don't know whether it's cheap or expensive. Can somebody give me some idea? Thx!

My personal favorite is Mediterranean style, which need a lot of soft decoration. I plan to buy them from China, then ship here. Still have no idea where to start. But got to find some very unique, beautiful and interesting soft decorations! 1. Calendar 2. Thermometer 3. Signboard 4. table lamp 5. book shelves!

3. Korea style furniture: white, wooden, usually decorated with flowers. You can see it in korean drama. Girls usually cannot resist this kind of style furniture.

2. Mediterranean style Use a lot of blue & white color; I never see any Mediterranean style furniture in Singapore. However, it's extremely popular in Chinese young family. I probably will ship some small item from China to do the soft deco part of my new home.

There are several type of country style. I am uploading the picture to explain. 1. Traditional American country style furniture: Dark in color, big in size. If your home is not big enough, I suggest you give up this style coz it will make your house looked more crowded.

oops! My bad! not urban style, should be country style. I love country style deco & furniture very much. They give me a very cozy and homey feeling. I ll try to find some pictures to upload later. However, it's not very popular in Singapore, which made our hunting for furniture is a very difficult experience. I can find some teak furniture of bali style. But our new home is not that big. Thus I prefer light color furniture. White wooden will be the best. Anyway, my family visited several country furniture stores & factory outlet this afternoon. Just share some experiences and location of those factory outlets: 1. Picket & Rail Factory Outlet 566 Woodlands Road S(728697) Tel:6362 2096 They claimed they are genuine American country style furniture which is made from Malaysia rubber tree. The price is ok, if the wood is really of at least 30 years old claimed by the sales person. In the factory outlet, there are also many home accessories in their factory outlet. 2. Scanteak 60 Sungei Kadut Drive, Singapore 729569 Phone: +65 6365 9121 It's a quite famous brand of teak furniture. However, their furniture are all in one color, which I think it's more suitable for outdoor patio. 3. Country furniture 62 Sungei Kadut Loop Singapore 729507. Tel (65) 6569 6988 They don't have any website. Only one showroom located at the 3rd level of IFC. They provide various color of country style furniture. I like their design and the price seems ok. It's just I never heard of this brand before so kinda worry their quality and service.

My family just paid a visit to IFC at Sungei Kadut. We were attracted by the collection from "country furniture". Their furniture are made of solid wood. The style is american country style. We love the white wooden furniture, which are very rarely seen in Singapore. Anyone heard of this brand? They claim they are singapore brand with factory in Malaysia. A solid wood dining table (1.6m*96cm) with 6 chairs got a promotion price of $1180. The bedroom set (a queen size bed frame + dressing table with miror + one stool + one side table) only $1388. Anyone heard of this brand? care to share your experience? According to the sales, they only have one showroom in Singapore

Hi Guys, I just bought a resale condo. The condition of the kitchen is fairly good. However, the color of the kitchen cabinet is horrible! To renovate my kitchen, there are several solutions, 1. Hack the existing cabinet completely and install brand new cabinet. The cost will be $$$$$$$$$$.. and not quite necessary since the condition of the cabinet is fairly good; 2. Change the table top & cabinet door only. But I heard it will only save up to 40% of cost and the effect will be kinda of weird. 3. Spray & coating. The cost is actually similar to changing of top&cabinet. I went to a contractor who provided spray&coating service. I would say the sample he showed me is not impressive. 4. Use a special paper (like wall paper) to cover all the surface of cabinet. There are many choices of color, design and the paper is both water proof and moisture proof. This is what I prefer to currently. I know in China there is such paper to sell. However, I am not sure whether in Singapore, it will work. This kind of paper sold in China: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=6855255018 http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=7414128418 http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=3739937170 Can anyone provide some suggestion?? much appreciate!

Spray Paint Wall Tiles
tongice replied to lambie's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
Hey guys, I just visit a spray & coating store last weekend and talked to Allan who claimed he is only one who can do spray and coating job in Singapore...gee... Ok the price I found out from him is S$2800 for 2 HDB toilet, including floor tiles and wall tiles. It's definitely cheaper than hacking and installing new tiles. However, when he showed me his work, I really feel it's not attractive..at all. Maybe because he got bad taste about the color choice. Heehee, anyway we decide to drop the idea of spraying and spend more. Anyway it's his website: http://www.primeworks.sg/products_spray.php hope it helps!
