  1. Cheap and Good is really depend on how you look at. Do research online, you can find more selection. Look for the best quality floors because you are going to step on it, walk on it for the next 10 to 20 years. Hope you can find the right one. Cheers
  2. Kronotex, is one of the oldest company in Singapore. It is happy to see them embracing new innovation especially to compete in today's market.
  3. It may not be possible with HDB power regulation. However, if can write to them to request for it.
  4. To find a good interior designer is not easy, you need to see if the he or she is looking at giving your home or workplace the best design you like. Or simply looking at how much money they could generate from you. I have been advising my friends to always check with CASE, to see if there is any blacklisted contractors or ID firms that still have outstanding issues with their unsatisfied clients. If have, it is best avoid to such companies. Other than that, choosing a good ID, is really up to guy feeling and whether you like the designer or not.
  5. Wow, it's a pretty modern and cool wall clock. Maybe shops around Orchard Road may have. But definitely will be at a higher end price.
  6. Hi Cool Down Guys, please don't get disturbed by "Renotalk Are Fakes". A few of my associates received genuine good clients feedback on Renotalk as well. Renotalk is a good resource for the buyers to research before they decide to buy any company product. The customers in the end, make their own decision. We can influence their decision but can't tell them what to buy or what not to buy. I have seen Allure test report. It is genuine. If any client or same industry people has doubts, they can ask the company for verification of Allure floors. Cheer up guys.
  7. I totally agreed with devion's advice. Definitely there will be little allowances that invite dust for the push open drawers.
  8. In my opinion, these 2 companies are ok lah. It's the designers and contractors you are dealing with. Make sure you like them. All the best for your renovation.
  9. I also went to Expo on monday to see one of the organisers. While at the Evorich booth, I was told that they just got this Allure floor brand distributorship recently.. So far to my knowledge, they are the sole Singapore distributor holding this Allure brand. Was shown the video presentation of the product. I have very high confidence that this Allure brand will be a hit in Singapore market soon. Its pretty easy to use, I think my kid will also know how to install these floors. Evorich guys, please quickly intergrate this Allure brand into your website and good luck!
  10. Congrats on Getting the Key to Your New Home. Getting a reliable and reasonable contractor for your home renovation is never easy. Please take your time to choose from a few contractors you shortlisted. Ask them for their quotation. Wait a bit longer for negotiations and then decide on your contractor. There are many good renovation contractors in Singapore. However, there are also a few "scapegoats". So you need to be very careful in selecting your contractor. Do a check with CASE to see if the company is on the complaint list or not. Hope this advice is good for you.
  11. You make your own decision lah. Most importantly, you need to find out if the brand or comapny has a good reputation or not. And when you finally bought it, be happy with it. Cheers.
  12. If possible, Do-It-Yourself. If not, you can try to look for this friend of mine who do flooring for a living, Dennis from Evorich. Cheers.
  13. Hey Leeman, to find an honest shop, you really need to spend time shopping around first. Take down the product and brand name of a selection of ceiling fans that you liked and do your due diligence on the internet. See what the price other people sell first hand and second hand. If the fan is selling higher than the retail price you checked online then it's too bad for you. It's all about price negotiations and a lot of bargaining. You can always bargain one especially in exhibitions like this. Moreover, honest shops are hard to judged. To find whether a shop is honest or not, go to CASE and enquire. Many reasons things are a bit expensive, maybe is quality or maybe it is because the shop has little profit margin or maybe because they want to make a lot out of you. They also want to feed their family and so forth. We also may know that cheap things are not always the best. Make your own buying decision depend on your wisdom and guts. And remember to negotiate. If you feel price too high, don't buy lor. It's your money, not mine. We will learn along the way.
  14. No offense and bias to anyone on this forum. Let's not speak bad about our competition without any concrete evidence. It does not look good at all. Fight a fair competition. Prospects can always go to check with CASE on the companies before they make any buying decisions.
  15. There is only one particular area you will need to see while finding a good painter. That is whether if they have done what they have promised. Make sure your painter is not lazy and do not add too much water to their paint. Another common complaint with CASE about painters is that many clients said their paints are not 'thick' as what their contractors or ID promised. Normally, they are promised with 2 layer of thick paint in order to let the walls look fresh and new. However, some IDs firms, which consist the minority of the industry, sad to say again, did not fulfil what they promised to their clients, causing people to be angry with people in our industry. These minority will argue back said they had painted 2 coats on the wall. It's just that the clients do not know how to see. Hence, to prevent this, especially you are engaging a new contractor. Tell them when is their first painting day. The first thing you must check is whether they use the exact paint brand and paint type you and your contractor have both agreed and signed. If your house need 3 different types of color, make sure you ask the painters to paint 2 coats of each color for you to see. Tell them to paint on a small portion of your walls. If you feel two coats are 'thin', ask for another coat. Do not mind payin a bit extra for better work. Price will never be an issue if you are looking for quality work for your home. Take pictures of your three walls after they are done. Hence in case of dispute, these pictures will be your evidence. It's a bit tiring for you. However, if you don't do that, your home paintings may not be what you want in the first place. The best approach is to engage a credible and trustworthy painting contractor, which there are plenty in Singapore as well. Anyone has any better idea in how to prevent this ongoing issue? Cheers.
  16. Yup. You're right. Tarkett has developed its own self-locking mechanism to joint floors together without glue or fasteners. On top of that it has good surfaces treatment, that is to prevent dirt, fading, scratches and moisture.
  17. You need to have certification for tempered glass. Genuine tempered glass must go through detailed heat testings. Those that cannot make it will be destroyed. Those can make it will be marketed and sold. These approved tempered glass will usually have a seal on it to certify its genuinity. Why I have to emphasize that is because a common complaint with CASE is that consumer kitchen tempered glass shattered because of heat. Where it should be heat resistant. This is because some IDs and contractors use "uncertified" tempered glass for their consumers. Sadly to say, they are still doing it now. Hence when you make your buying decisions on tempered glass, ask for the glass company's background and make sure you do your due diligence on the them and their finished product. Or best get a lifetime warranty on it to protect your interests. Cheers
  18. I think for the benefit of clients who have seen this thread and they are not in this industry. It will be better for them to go to their floor contractors, see, feel and decide the flooring brand for themselves. Recommendations on the forum may not be 100% right. It really depends on individual preferences and interests. Remember, you are going to be living with the flooring for the next 5, 10 years or even forever. You can look at the recommendations online in an objective way but make your own decision. This is your hardearned money so use it wisely. The other thing I realise is there is a lot of 'fightings' going on in many threads.... For a fair writeout, I hope people in the same industry could compete in a fair contest. Let's talk good about own products and not talk bad about competitors' products. This way, we will let the consumers decide better. The market is very huge. Cheers.
  19. Hi Devion, at this time, if you think the price is quoted too high by your ID. You should tell him to hold on to the renovation and you may wish to get a few aircon contractors to quote first. If you found the contractors gave you a better pricing, then you can tell your ID whether he can match the pricing or not. If he can, stick with your ID. Give some room for your ID as well. At the end of the day, make it a win-win situation for both parties.
  20. Excessive moisture are the main reason for premature deterioration of parquet wood which will then invite the small 'six-legged friends' to stay at the home. Here are ways to quickly settle your moisture issue. 1) Don't leave things around on the floor. Put them in well portable storage spaces. 2) Buy dehumidifiers for your individual rooms. 3) Complain to your building contractor. (HDB / Condo Management), if this is the cause of your neighbour's aircon condenser. 4) This thing may stay for quite some time before the problem really disappear so bear with it! 5) When the problem is settle, apply a new coat of wax on your parquet. And maintain every 3 -6 months if possible. I hope these will help you.
  21. I went to their showroom at woodlands with one of my contractors a few months ago. They have pretty good portfolios and works. The thing about them is shortage of manpower and no website. ID Note is a promising company one should look into.
  22. How to increase your luck? Umm... I think it is the number games, preparation and also you need to have good attitude. For people who are doing sales, see more people. For people who are looking for promotion, come early to work everyday. For people who are looking for love, you need to start to dressed up, For people who are looking for fertility, you need to *ahem* (you know what I mean) Cheers!
