  1. 33 4444 empty. Just to light up the room. yup 1-1 tv and 2-2 sofa~~
  2. Yup, agree that the cabinets should have some contrast with the floor. We opted for a generally bright setting, so floor tiles are of lighter tone too and face of the cabinet with darker walnut colour. Errrrmmm!!! I dunno the laminate code/colour leh. We just visually point out the laminate we want and the carpenter settle the rest! Top should be cream/white, bottom walnut brown, solid top just white! The shop name ahhhh... u see my first post lo. Don't plan to make it too obvious, my first 2 purchases with them were excellent, very good. But I guess different person handling it this time... %#$^% We love the solid top! hehe
  3. Yup correct. 1-1 is the location of TV, I may not want both 1-1 and 2-2 on at the same time because of the TV lor, keep the TV area dark when watching TV. Actually got my contractor to correct the grouping to this: - 4 - 3 - 4 - 1 --------- 2 1 --------- 2 - 4 - 3 - 4 - For dim lighting, I would just switch on 3-3 or 2-2 when watching tv.
  4. I didn't really sit down to test yet, think more accurate when the sofa and coffee tables are there. Right now at most... got wind at my feet. lol
  5. Last lap! Kitchen top installed! Kitchen Island can double as table for breakfast, so it protrudes out abit more. My hob and hood certainly had alot of issues... first, delivered wrong hood colour, and told me the colour I ordered had no stock (didn't even bother to tell me!) then, when the supplier came to replace it with a colour of my choice, he found that the shop told him the wrong colour AGAIN *faint* and now, the hob is not the one I ordered. Ok la at least this one is acceptable, was our 2nd choice. The cutout size is different, so no way to change already since kitchen top had already been fabricated. I've funky ideas for my doorbell and walls.. hur hur
  6. wah so many! Don't think will do too many all over the kitchen, my aesthetics IC say ugly! lol. Will post updated pic of kitchen in a moment!
  7. I'll just post here instead, just no prices. Got my bedframe from International Furniture Mall (Sungei Kadut), Ackermann and Smith. It came cheaper because I bought a mattress from them as well. Generally, you can get a much better discount if you buy the bedframe together with the mattress. Their mattress was over $100 more expensive than what we saw at Robinsons... but if we bought the bedframe together from them, it would still be cheaper overall. You can always try to bargain. It applies to all shops.. at least they will tell me can negotiate the price whenever I walked away.
  8. I thought so initially. But its up on the ceiling... hardly noticeable as u can see in the pic above. Anyway nobody would stare at the lights.
  9. Haha I just had Pure Blond 2 weeks ago with wife. She said it's called Pure Blond because its easy to drink and for bimbos. lol. We're fans of Brothers Toffee Apple Cider, will probably bring them in the cartons. lol Yah, I already ordered TV though, just hope can connect. haha.. if not have to buy tuner.. zzz herm... actually also not that much space there. Unless I let it extrude out to the dining room but thats too ugly. haha. Will see how, maybe just have shorter bamboos and hang clothes on clothes hangers. Got bedsheet or bigger items then bring to balcony or living room.
  10. Jiayou! You sound low energy now, its just the start, stay positive!! At the end it will be worth it. =)
  11. To be honest... with demand still high above supply, the internals of your unit does not make that much of an influence in decision to buy your flat in the future. But... just plan according to how long you wish to stay there. With kids? Aged parents? etc? btw, standard doesn't mean bad. It is just the most common solution. Standard layout can't go wrong, just not unique. Sometimes there's really no benefit in being unique, how often do you go to your neighbours' flats to compare? And standard layout doesn't mean standard design. It can still look great if your ID is good, and not given as an excuse that since you don't want to hack a wall, the design will be "standard".
  12. Well, it looks safe but should not quote me on that
  13. Show to your contractor bah. Remember don't make yourself too pek chek, this is just the start! I also went to get the guidelines and checked with HDB myself before telling contractor to do some stuff. Sometimes they may just give you the answer that gives them easiest work or least trouble.
  14. Yah sounds like what you're doing! Which model of TV are u using ah? Can accept connect direct cable to TV with digital tuner? Right hand side is for my fridge and a side table. Right now only have the middle which is blocked by the light. Previous owner used to hang their bamboos all over the stairwell, super ugly! Yesh.. haha. Have never used big big fridges before, so this is ok la You should be the one with the humongous fridge! haha.
  15. heh, each choice has their merits. If you are confident with your aircon installers and will do frequent servicing, should be safe to put in L-box. Otherwise outside L box will be safest, but I think will be very ugly lo. L-Box supposed to hide stuff, a bit pointless to have trunking beside L box. Think it really depends on our lifestyles, I hate to keep too much stuff around (except for drinks maybe). Last time even made sure I cook whatever I buy on the same day. But then again.. next time will be like auntie.. see cheap then buy abit more and stock up.. bleh Yup should be around there. $100+ each. She had 2 compressors, I suppose will be 2 trays? Think can try to bargain! Bro, pls take a pic of your giant fridge filled with Heineken and show us ok? :)
  16. Hacking is usually the fastest, no need to hack to perfection mah. The rest really depends on your contractor's coordination skills already. Just make sure they don't rush the tiling, its the one thing that can have the most visible flaws if not done nicely.
  17. lol.... you got EM doesn't mean unlimited space wor, but at least you are prepared for a big family! Yes thats what my wife said. haha. I just thought its leh chey to take out and wash, when a leather one just needs a good wipe and proper protective wipes occasionally. Spill coffee also not scared! Yeah thought so. Sian, don't feel like getting starhub now but thats the only socket I have for now. Must consider when doing aircon trunking. Mine installed the trunking at where I was supposed to put curtains. Orhhh.. heh, ok, but u need to pay extra for the stainless steel tray for each compressor, at least $200 extra?
  18. Now still have some issues to iron out: 1) Internal area to hang clothes (when it rains) Ceiling not enough space in kitchen >.< 2) Fabric vs Leather Sofa? We don't like patterns on the sofa, but might opt for fabric coz scared that leather seats trap heat, is that true? 3) TV Wondering... if I don't have Starhub nor Singtel TV... can I still use Starhub cable socket to get digital channel 5, channel 8, etc? 4) Curtains The aircon guys installed the trunking too low, right above the window grilles. Only realized after everything done, too late to change. Are there any particular curtains that require minimal space to install, except for stick-ons?
  19. Thanks, 385L~ big enough for us Wah, so really cannot put at the corridor? HDB said cannot? Wash a football team's jerseys... lol
  20. Relax relax, only first few days of reno leh, no need to get so uptight! I think it is common for contractors to tell u that some things cannot do, without actually confirming so. Convenient answer mah. I went thru several rounds to get my WC converted to toilet also. The drop for my shower was very very short, 1 or 2cm only, not like the type of drop u see in kitchens, up to 10cm in some cases. Maybe your contractor was expecting a big drop? Did you tell him how deep a drop u wanted? Actually many things may not be approved by HDB, many eyes are closed. But *some* rules were made for a reason, so good to check with HDB again bah.
  21. heh think we can still live with 6.5kg. In any case, if I have sweaty clothes, will be made to wash them separately from the normal day to day clothes. Also can't do altogether! For drying of clothes, we only have a small area to hang, if it is raining. Of course, will try to put in balcony whenever possible coz we have morning sun to help. Last time used to have some space to hang on ceiling, but now light is repositioned, so I can't hang the clothes there anymore. Even if I do, need to saw the bamboo poles shorter -- which may not work for bedsheets.
  22. Haha, yah lor. Another consideration is... do you have enough space to dry your clothes if you wash that much? I know I don't. In fact I'm facing a little problem with that... will elaborate later.
  23. We got it coz it fits into our kitchen leh. Wife's family uses that size and she said its sufficient for them. They don't have king sized bedsheet, but family of 4 adults, seemed ok for them?
  24. Many LED bulbs come with multiple emitters in it. Note that you have to decide when to change the bulb as the emitters will die one by one. Sometimes abit waste to change whole bulb when only a few emitters are gone, just not as bright.
