  1. This table is not entirely smooth. Undulating in fact, looks as if it was handmade, with imperfections here and there. So maybe film won't be too suited. Now hor.. the table is so WHITE... that it made my walls and tv console look so not white. lol
  2. Hehe.. think most mansionette owners will attest to this. Why so big? Stairs dangerous! Pregnant fall down how? Old ppl fall down how? See how u clean! etc etc. Ultimately... what matters is that the 2 of u LIKE it. =D
  3. Wired will be much more reliable. I run a single wired connection between lvl 1 and 2, and have 2 wireless routers - 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs. 2nd router upstairs will just act as a switch and now signal is still relatively good throughout the house.
  4. Its a choice to get the hook. My supplier provides at $5 per set. But I think can bargain to get for free la. Be careful though, its at the height where kids run around and stab their face at. I personally would not install it. Maybe think of other ways to DIY something... velcro? haha. Pelmet is a metal/plastic cover for the top part of the roller blinds. No picture, but thats the general gist?
  5. $159! Special price coz of the blemishes, its the only set. beds.sg has this at $229 I think, but out of stock right now. Agree, hard to find such designs at under $300. Most are marketed as "designer" and hence the heftier price tag. I'm a sucker for round edges too. keke
  6. Just a quick update... coffee table in! Has slight blemishes.. but got it cheap so can't complain. Quite big tho!
  7. Yeah MIO nothing to do with SCV point. Should work, but I'm not sure if the wireless signal is strong enough where you will be using the internet connection. If there are too many walls or beams in between, signal may be weak or unstable. For me, I found that the wireless router in living room with TV does not send a strong signal to the MBR. So I wired CAT6 cables from TV area to study room where the heavy usage is expected. Study room just beside MBR, so wireless not a problem there.
  8. hmmm, the $3k+ i mentioned includes the installation/wiring of all the lights, hood, aircon, bathroom fan, DB etc. I guess whether its expensive or not, depends on the per item cost. Some people have a socket at every corner of every room while some settle with 1 or 2 sockets only. Don't forget to wire your internet LAN points if any.
  9. Heyo $3090 for 12kbtu + 9kbtu X 2. 12kbtu is for the bigger room. You can ask your aircon guys for advice on the required btu to cool your room. Remember to ask for - 1/2 inch Armaflex class "1" insulation - G22 copper pipe - free 2 trips installation These are often add-on costs if you go to places like Gain City. So don't believe the advertised prices.. you may end up paying up to $300 more for the above. And cost of stainless steel tray if you need it. Usually costs about $100-120?
  10. Your floorplan looks almost exactly like mine, except that the balcony is connected to the kitchen, but mine is to the living room. Painting price can vary a lot. If its with your ID... u can probably negotiate to use more colours because you are already paying a premium. The painter may also do additional trips to your house should there be a need for touchups at a later stage. But if you go direct to some painters, its up to you to manage everything nicely. Have fun with the reno!
  11. Cost of rewiring the house depends on the number of power points and light points you ask for. My mansionette's rewiring cost me about $3k+. I think the price usually goes much higher once you have downlights, as you typically have more downlights than the traditional ceiling light. Usually... if your WC is a bottom discharge (S-trap), it should not be shifted. You can shift a few cm la.. but not to the other side of the room coz u need a big pipe to let your good stuff flow away effectively. But if your WC is a side discharge (P-trap) then you can probably have it anywhere. Ideally... it should be as close to the main waste pipe as possible. I did a new WC in level 1 and they linked a pipe from my new WC to the waste pipe. For kitchen.. u cannot change any of the pipes. Everyone's discharge flows through the same pipe leh.. you can't change the ceiling inlets or floor outlets. My kitchen virtually had a happening tree of pipes spreading here and there. Bopian just do boxups to hide them.
  12. hehe.. I don't frequent the forum that much la. This table is made from fibreglass, not sure if it is that prone to scratches, but I guess it would. My kitchen top already has some small scratches, but its white so not obvious la. Expecting the coffee table this Saturday... finally can eat in front of TV with a real table and not the bench... lol
  13. Heyooo.. long time no post. Things seem to be looking very good, so many pages and pontianak stories that its hard to find the actual progress other than to just look at pics. hehe. The roller blinds are nice. How much were they, in psf? I just ordered my roller blinds, 3 rooms half length and 1 full length, with pelmets. Total damage $2.8k. Think the lobang in center cannot be helped. Those I spoke to all said there's a limit. Good also la.. ah boh u cannot open half half. heh. And if the window is open and it gets windy, it may be dangerous when the blind catches the wind. Remember that the bar is solid, can whack anything in the way. You have to make sure the blinds are either secured at the bottom, or windows closed when blinds are pulled down. Love ur balcony btw. Mine is still bare. haha.. super slow progress. Or rather, we like it open and clean
  14. Long time since last update. Fiber broadband is ready, and I have the default wireless router (or residential gateway) in the living room with the TV, and cable-connected to my study upstairs where I have another wireless router. The 2nd router acts like a switch and lets the first router do most of the work. Otherwise, the signal from downstairs is not strong enough from the bedrooms. Shower glass door came loose, but got my contractor to get some guys to fix it yesterday. Guess I shouldn't have been scrubbing too hard? Still looking for some furniture to fill the house... Coffee Table - delivery next week, I hope Chose white to match all the whitey stuff in living room. Study Tables / Chairs / Shelves Been trying to figure this out.... can't find anything we like yet. Not even sure of the layout. lol. Too many considerations... don't want monitor to face windows coz of glare, don't want to face windows also coz of glare (will have blinds though). And don't really want screen to face the door, prefer some privacy. Will doodle some possible layouts and post again.
  15. I realize.. it is not rust but the smell of detergent (how'd I mix them up anyway). Oddly, there's a strong smell of my clothes detergent under the sink where I used to store the big pack. Now its stored elsewhere but the smell still stays and affects the water, even after airing it overnight. Have placed some charcoal there yesterday, hope it improves! Thanks for the advice anyway Thanks! Maybe tempered glass over the wooden top? Still has the woody feel.
  16. hehe. so long as all's fine. My bathroom door opens by itself sometimes in the middle of the night... suddenly. Probably due to the strong wind sometimes from the tiny louvre windows.
  17. My kitchen tap water smells and tastes like iron (rust). Haven't gone to smell the other taps yet, for this need to find plumber?
  18. Take care bro, try to lighten up too. Moving in will be a happy occasion, there are much more things to smile at than to argh at! Most impt thing to make the weekend stay-over a reality is the bed and toiletries! Bedsheets, quilt, etc.
  19. Hey thanks. Actually... the table/chairs beside my sofa is a breakfast dining set ($99). We're just moving it all over the place wherever we need it now because we haven't gotten most of the furniture. Right now the table is just beside the bed so I'd doodle on the iPad while sitting on the bed. ha. The actual bench we bought is not in the picture, a fat solid bench that is our temporary coffee table now.
  20. Your balcony floor looks cool! Feels resorty. haha. Does dirt get in between the pebbles easily? My balcony gets quite a lot of dirt every time it rains, but I just do a quick sweep and mop to clear it. Wonder how is yours done?
  21. Wah u knocking away the wall for one of the rooms? Making a window there? Thumbs up for all your effort in the before pics!
  22. Yes, I wanted the thick wooden ones with curved down edges. Posted the pics of those... hhaa.. but wife didn't like the ridges on the table surface, said that food may get stuck inside. The one we got eventually fits quite nicely to the room, just not as solid, cannot jump up and down on it. lol I didn't ask for discount, bad bargainers we are!!
  23. haha thanks, see my latest post, my dining set is from Koda! Which dining set did u get? Got pics?? I will probably go down again when their showroom is fully open. Already went there twice.
  24. Quick photo update... Dining Table Just arrived from KODA. We will get a bench on the left side. Actually.. we already have a bench but it is being used as coffee table now. Got it because the edges were all rounded. Good for clumsy people like me. TV Console Carpenter finished it some time ago, just didn't manage to take photos of it. Wanted it white, but not too sure now as it looked too raw. Laminate has a brushed texture but can't really see until u go really really close. Depth was a little too big too, should have just gone for 40cm instead of 50cm. Had tempered glass top, and see through section in middle so that we don't face too much dust and the remote can still go thru. Yes that's my OpenNet terminal on the left... not sure how to nicely connect the router over to the stuff inside. Will connect router to media player and to study room upstairs with a switch. Just bought ironing board, laundry rack, etc from Carrefour as well during their 12% off sale. But when I got home.... I realized that the laundry rack had a TINY label stating "FAULTY"..... dot dot dot... didn't have time to setup yet, gonna try assembling it maybe tmr.
