  1. Sorry for the long hiatus, guys - was down with a bad cold/flu, and then plagued with apathy. Haven't logged in for a bit and am seeing some new bloggers! Hope everyone's having a fine time and not in need of too much xanax or panadol. Hi Lady-R, at this point, it's still undetermined, but it's still in the planning! Shouldn't be too long now, would 2 weeks notice suffice? Hi Mae, Wow, thanks! It's a lot of clutter, yes, but I love the "American" clutter. It adds a lived-in look without the real mess Hope I get to see you during the housewarming as there's some things I would love to pick your sagacious mind about! Oh my dear May, apart from sneezing into kleenex and drinking cough syrup, haven't been anywhere near the moon. Am taking full advantage of weaker constitution to stuff face. Nom nom nom. Thank you, knownothing! Yeah, everyone has their own acquired taste and for now, I'm basking in the freedom before any little ones arrive. However, the two fur-kids keep me busy enough with the daily cleaning - omgah the fur!! Hi again, rayfox, haven't been doing much online shopping except for misc stuff like house slippers and bathrobes, and books. House is cluttered as it is, but we finally bit the bullet and got ourselves the Liefhiet Mop. Not sure if it's worth the $250+ but it does make mopping the floor a lot more efficient. Yeah, my cats in Australia were thoroughly spoilt through and through, and Bondi is still adapting being without his tunnel haha! Haven't had any interesting purchases - save for more blu-ray dvds, Blistex Lip Conditioner, and currently in the shopping bag, some gorgeous dresses from Urban Outfitters. Still am lazy about getting my prints done for the bedroom but will have pics once that's done. WIW is fully-blinged out for all-out glamour, and a special framed phrase for Sleek Pictures by the weekend, I hope. There's food shopping tomorrow as I tackle my domestic task of 4 home-cooked meals per week! <3 Ely
  2. Hi Sheelaa, Thanks for following the blog, and finally saying Hi! I love that one too - so apt for a kitchen, don't you think? With Brilliant Prints, you get an automatic 5% online discount plus another $10 off for registration, so go for it! Print on Canvas is another site that does free delivery, but the fee adds up to the same if you take into consideration the discounts. Hope this helps! - Ely - Ely
  3. Hi Sheelaa, Thanks for visiting! It's 24" by 24", with delivery, about S$170. Yeah, I love Rodney White's stuff, especially the vintage look and I'm keeping the kitsch strictly in the wet kitchen/laundry area ! They're very prompt and their colour reproduction is excellent. - Ely
  4. Nothing works better than fingernails when in shower without tools? I'm even colouring grout with my fingertips gawd dammit. When you come over, you can see the woeful tiles. Hate. - Ely
  5. Sorry about that, Marshy! All those long-winded posts lol! Clear your mailboxes so I can PM you the invites - Ely
  6. LOVE LOVE LOVE! The DIY holders really look awesome, and that feature wall reminds me of Katia M-something's (former Miss Greece) all white apartment with a quirky world map in the bathroom because of all the travelling she's doing. I wanted something similar, but of both our thumbprints interlocking in the shape of a heart for future baby room but scrapped it because it was too expensive. Now, you're simply missing the Illuminated Moon, which shows all phases of the moon! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Love your place, FF! <3 @ Strikingreality: You're right about the grout, half my time spent in the shower is using my fingernails to clean the f*cking grout! Hate. Gawd. @ Tim: Was schooled abroad, as is The Husband, but the WPP group is pretty tight I keep a VERY low profile though - Ely
  7. It's in the planning Don't worry, you're already on the guest list Ohhh, don't speak about weight! Still procrastinating with my workout plan...and there's a photoshoot coming up! AHH! Must.Stop.Scraping.Crap.Off.Floors.And.Walls.With.Fingernails. - Ely
  8. Awwww With my ratty t-shirts, PJ pants, unkempt hair and nerd glasses, I'm sure there's a striking resemblance~
  9. Hmm, odd, it shows up on my page, except for some which I changed permission settings and moved them to different sets. Let me know which page you can't view pics of - Ely
  10. Wow, Kobelala, coming along very nicely indeed!! Your hanging pendant is gorgeous, and that pole system wardrobe is yummy! I use LeGrand switches as well and they're great! Mine are in silver and rocket though, with the other hidden ones, in white. I have two undermount Elkay sinks like yours - just be very careful with cleaning omg. I've never used a scourer and only a soft sponge or cloth, but there's scratches EVERYWHERE! Most annoying. Also, wipe, wipe, wipe, or the water stains will be more evident - Ely
  11. Oooh, Houdini Marsh! Feel better soon k? Glad to see that you're back! The Husband and I are the same - we're so private that we wouldn't even our place featured (not that we were invited~) much lest, having our pictures in the paper ugh. - Ely
  12. Oh, don't apologise friends78. I feel for you!! Imagine the cleaning and prepping and having strangers move your stuff about and plug in crazy lights and staging opened books, strewn pillows, crockery with napkin rings and silverware and half-filled pitchers of lemonade etc. Ugh! All THAT for nothing?? They archive it, and may publish it later when there's space - they didn't pass you over for someone else's apartment, just that the whole "space" section was cut due to space constraints so they'll inform you again when they can run it. It also saves them the time and effort to go photograph and write up another place. I'm sure your place will be featured in time! Also, a huge congrats on being chosen to be featured! It means your place is definitely not uninteresting! - Ely
  13. Grr, you're a hard one to please! Spray a David in pink methinks! Here's a place that can do any colour for you! David, with all dangly bits, feautured in light pink here. Terra Cotta though. There's metallic ones too in marble. - Ely
  14. Psst... Print them yourself! I know it's terrible but that's what I do >< If you really want them poster quality, Snapfish etc offer very good prices. I just had a canvas done by Brilliant Prints, with a REALLY low resolution (like 64kb!!) but they colour perfected it incredibly. It's one of Rodney White's that I've always loved: Here, on art.com. Here is it in my laundry area: Otherwise, search allposters, art.com, key in either the name of the artist/or title of print and search on etsy, like "love poster" or more specific like "love pop art poster pink" etc. - Ely
  15. oh d.a.r.n, I clicked the link - halp!! Sooo WANT omg. Maxey has Princess Bed so that will have to suffice for now - Ely
  16. Expensive is relative I got my cowhide rugs at US$69 shipping, and the metal art was about US$80 a piece for shipping. Still considerably cheaper than buying direct from the gallery (the art pieces' gallery prices are about US$2K). I got my art within 4 days of payment though, so it can really be worth it. FYI, that Marcel D's Bicycle Wheel's shipping is only US$10 to Singapore (so d.a.m.n tempting) Really depends, which is why I often ask for quotes first before deciding to go the consignment merchant route. Amazon direct can be cheaper because they are soooo generous with their packaging, so it often would be a crazy charge for shipping, especially when Borderlinx repackages your items, like putting a 1" dog tag into a 12" DHL envelope and charging you for volume~ I've asked them not to repackage my items anymore and so far has been okay, but currently, no attractive promos from Borderlinx atm. Use the shipping calculators on the various consignment sites to decide if it's worth the postage - Ely
  17. I know **** is quite a popular spot for doors as well as door knobs. You can get the knobs separately and have them installed, as we did with our digital lock. There's Thye Seng (I think) for hinges and such, and Shanghai Tong Lee for more locks/knobs. Oh, if you want a laminate catalogue (Freedom), I'll be happy to pass it to you. P.S. If you want some of that Yamazaki, you better get to it soon... it's very quickly.. evaporating~ - Ely And rickoveron is right, the electrician will do the balancing for your fan
  18. I didn't see any feature in the Sunday papers? >< Did I so blindly miss it? I flipped through the whole thing like 5 times omg! - Ely
  19. Really nice pics and captions, Duchess Adi Such an informative and visual treat! Congrats on getting your keys! *poms poms* A word of advice though - don't stress yourself too much. I can see you're putting in lots of effort into building your home, and rightfully so, but I sense that you're obsessing a little too much. Relax k? With that amount of planning and research (I probably did only 1/8 of your efforts), it's going to be fabulous!! Just follow your gut, don't get too swayed by the ID (I still regret listening to the ID to lay the mosaic in strips round the bathroom - hate it!), stick to EVERYTHING you love, love, love, and don't give a rat's *** what others think. It's going to be gorgeous, I know it! When you come over, we can flip through pages of big white gowns and decide if we're summer brides or spring brides or whatever, I'm probably a not-very-bridey bride. >< - Ely
  20. So sorry to hear about this, Sleek. Sigh. Shall we mail-bomb that idiot? Hope the toes are better too... I can check with The Husband if he knows of a reasonably-priced lawyer - will keep you updated. Till then, I shall keep virus lab on stand-by *hugs* -Ely
  21. No nekkid David, but there's his head in red? Or how about a sequined mohawk? - Ely
  22. Ha! The Husband is more traditional, he had "Never to part" inscribed on mine. "Put It Back On!" was the first thing that came to my mind, then I tried to be more romantic and traditional, "The Small Key Is Lost" was next in line but it had too many characters - from Frau Ava's: I am yours. You are mine. Of this we are certain. You are lodged in my heart. The small key is lost. You must stay there forever. Then I thought we should have matchy-matchy verses, like "For I had Found Love" on one, and "And Love was You" on the other but when we were finally asked to confirm the inscriptions, I decided to go with my first, spontaneous pick. Even The Husband commented that it was more "me"~ (I'm sure he's referring to my wit and humor, and definitely not my lack of romantic gestures ) As for sculptures, it really depends what you love. I like dancers, for their grace and I love dance Something interesting for that bare wall: If either of you is a cycling enthusiast, then this would be pretty cool I think: Fan of Sons of Anarchy mabbe? Something for the stereo/entertainment room? Bronze apple mmmm. I love this for my Hollywood bedroom! And I totally heart Marcel Duchamp's 1913 'Bicycle Wheel'! If I had the space I would so get this!! If you can narrow it down to materials, type (figurines, etc), then it would a lot easier. Btw, that profile pic isn't of me - I love figurative art - this one is from Ramon Lombarte - Ely
  23. My ScrewPull finally died on me and I'm now a sad panda, relying on The Husband to open wine bottles with a waiter's cockscrew which I somehow have lost the knack to handle. Dependency, methinks. So, off to eBay again, and got a few buys Picked the Metrokane Houdini with stand this time: And an aerating pour for young reds: As well as some gemstone wine charms and reusable ice blocks. - Ely
  24. Hi ksa, I think it really depends on how much of the wall you're covering, as well as the original condition of the wall. If it's pretty streaky already, then I'd suggest plastering completely before. I still have paint left over from the door with that small can, even using it for my Ikea wooden chests etc, so a little will go a long way. I don't think my place is "darkened" since the door was already painted black~ Sounds pretty silly to me. Hope this helps! - Ely
