  5. I recetly logon to the HDB and it was indicated that I was not eligible to sublet out my flat i think it is because of the MOP does anyone know for MOP does it start from Date Of Application or Date Of Purchase? My requirement to sublet the whole flat is 3 years. Date Of Application 12 Mar 2008 Date Of Purchase 01 Jun 2008 Hope someone can advice.
  6. Omegard, Please feel free to give your recommendation and I have no intention to dispute as seriously we are very new to this kind of set-up. Frankly I did not even know what is AVR till I started reading from the internet. May i know if you can recommend a complete system or should I say a basic system that can be upgraded as the times goes by. Again I would like to stress your recommendation is based on my request so no right or wrong. (RELAX) Basic as in - 5.1 + AVR + Blu-ray + big sound (Cabling all done today) It would be appreciated if price of your recommendation can be added so we know how much more we need to come up with. PS - I got the Belden cable today, did not spend a single cent got about 24 meters from my colleague.
  7. Initially we only plan to spend about $500 - $800 but after some reading and thinking that this will be a family gathering place we have decided to increase the budget to about $1400. The $1400 should also include the Blue-Ray player.
  8. Cant have floor stand speakers my small boys will constantly relocate things that are not fixed to the ground.
  9. ynwa88, Thank you for the advice, will go down to Sim Lim during lunch time and try get the cables first.
  10. Living room size is something like this Height : 10ft (Floor to False Ceiling) Width : 14ft (Left to Right of Feature wall) Length : 18ft to 20ft (From feature wall to back of the room) PS - I dont really have walls as I have hacked all the surrounding walls and converted to glass bi-fold and sliding. What would a denon set-up cost?
  11. Hi Omegared, Me and the mrs has decided to get our first decent HT, main use will be for Movie and concert video. (Family Use) ONKYO - Exclude Blue Ray Player HTS3300B BLACK 5.1CH HOME THEATRE SYSTEM BLACK 4SA S$959.00 Pioneer PHS-100i - Include Blue ray Player * VSX-920-K * S-HS100 * BDP-330 S$1400.00 Appreciate some comments and advice. PS - We have to decide asap as our contractor need to seal up the false ceiling.
  12. To be fair I think we as enduser also need to know what we are buying. If my electrician recommends a place to buy items I would have asked him to come along but that does not mean I have to buy from them. I would still do price comparsion with my regular shop. PS - We are not born carrot, choice is always our. (Research + leg work = Save money) No offence intended.
  13. Dear Pastore23, I think Beds.sg would now need to send you a Thank you card because of their positve action to rectify problems they have now gain more new customers. To the management of Beds.sg, As a consumer I would strongly urge you to bear in mind customers are the one that make you, but if negelect your service deliverable the customer can also break you.
  14. It will depend on afew factor, Dept of Pond, Is the pond under direct sunlight, what is the pump you will be using (Using the correct pump is important) etc.. I have attach a link below hope it helps. http://www.arowanaclub.com/forum/showthrea...mp;pagenumber=1 PS : The investment is between SGD$12k to SGD$18k exclude future maintenance cost.
  15. If you simply just drain the water and fill it with sand, be prepared within 1 year you will find that the areas where the pond was will sink. What you need to do is fill the pond with gravel than with wire mesh, cement and finally with sand. I am currently converting the side of my house from graden to tiled flooring, really alot of work. Hope this helps
  16. Yukkeen, Your contribution is appreciated especially by SMALL consumer like myself. Thank you
  17. A good example for consumers, do not just depend on CASE if you want things done do it yourself. Thank you for sharing
  18. I have recently asked Tiler Seng/Ronald for a quote for my house renovation, which is a three storey house in Loyang. To be honest from the time I called him till the site survey the entire engagement was pleasant, plus the amount of advice given was appreciated. When i told him i needed the work to be completed by the 22nd December he told me that he could not do it due to time constraint, I can really feel that they are trying to do a honest business and try to meet owners expectation. If he was only after money he would have taken up the job knowing he cannot deliver on the date I wanted. (WHAT CAN I DO RIGHT) When I called to inform him that I have decided to award the project to another contractor he was very polite and even send me a sms after our coversation to feel free to call him if i needed any advice. He has also explained to me on the recent bad feedback given to him by a fellow forumer, I dont think it is right for us to judge anyone without hearing from both sides. I also feel that constant bashing on every thread is also uncessary, just make a clear and precise point and move on.
  19. hahaha too enross in reading did not realise the date.
  20. I will be meeting all the contractors in the next few days to make things more consistent I will be telling all of them the same requirement after which i will silently hear what they have to suggest. Most important we as home owners need to be comfortable with the people we are going to work with. Once I have finalise the contractors I will put down all their names and contact. PS - Wow cutting down three trees cost you about 1k, next time you have tree to cut let me know...lol The quote I have receive from my contractor is about $320 to cut and dispose of all three trees. (Each tree is more than 12ft)
  21. Really very impress with your determination. I have also just bought a three storey house and will also be starting to get quotation for the renovation and hope to complete before christmas. 1. Change Tiles for Living room and Dining room. 2. New feature wall for living room 3. Hack side wall for dining and living room and install Bi-Fold doors 4. Varnishing of Parquet for entire 2nd and 3rd floor 5. Change of 5 Toilet bowl and sink 6. Misc pluming works 7. Misc electrical works 8. Chopping down of 3 big palm tress 9. Convert grass patch to tiles for side of the house 10. Patio - Wooden deck with roof 11. Painting of whole house I think the list is not done yet as will only know once I have collected the keys from my lawyer this week. Will try the various contractor and will update this thread after the renovation.
  22. No need to kick butt. Always remember all you want is to get what you paid for and when there is a problem all you want is for them to fix the problem. Just talk to your contractor and get them to settle the matter with the carpentar. Problem not fix no payment loh. PS - Doing things in a calm and peaceful manner should always be the first approach.
